The wait can be very long, but the food is oh so good! The restaurant, itself, is also charming. A very unique atmosphere!

What has happened to this once interesting and delicious restaurant? My family and I walked away the other night shocked by how terrible the customer service has become. And the food.....don't waste your money! You can make a tomato pie at home for 1/2 the cost. I got a pasta dish - maybe 1/4 cup of angel hair? Give me a break. And they are serving everything on paper plates and plastic cups! What a waste! However, the service is what's really bad - that hostess (and I've gathered this after two visits to the restaurant) I think she's been misguided in thinking she has the option of allowing people to eat there. She treats her job as though she's running a nightclub and they are only allowing certain people past the velvet rope. SMH!if Wildflower wants to hold onto any semblance of their once stellar reputation, get new management and fire the hostess. Just being real! read more

It's lovely here - really - shabby chic, eclectic, interesting - a very neat place to have Sunday Brunch. We ordered the brunch sampler for two - and had the most delicious chicken curry soup! It was a cold, rainy morning and this soup was fantastic. Then the rest of the food came - all of it on one dinner plate. There was a small cup of mashed potatoes with two slices of roast beef on top. There were four pieces of squash also in the cup. On the plate was a strawberry crepe, a small serving of cut fruit and a piece of ham and cheese quiche to share. The tab was $50 - I don't feel we got our money's worth in terms of the food, but we did enjoy the experience. Next time, rather than the sampler, we may choose meals. Rachel and I had a great time at the Wildflower Cafe. I enjoyed a Greek salad and the loaded shrimp and grits. Yes; I recommend both. Rachel had the vegetable plate with blackened chicken, and was very happy with both! Somehow, as great as the food was, the ambience was even better. Also - MAKE RESERVATIONS. Oh boy where to start... so we are staying in fort Payne- nothing restaurant wise is good around there. So decided to take a trip up to Mentone. Called and made reservation for 7:15. Get there early just to hear the lady state, "we are booked, you didn't call here." I pulled my phone out to prove it to her. Then told her the entire conversation I had- she looked at me crazy. Then, thankfully, the other lady came out and corrected her. We sat down and we're greeted by a very flustered waitress- who did not at all seem interested in being bothered by anyone including the staff... she was demanding the hostess to help her- it was awkward to sit there. Now for the food, it was terrible. I even overheard a customer tell the owner or maybe manager how bad it tasted... we should have went to jacks- yuck. Way overrated. read more

Been here twice and the first time I'd have to go all in with 5 stars, Came back again and brought more people with us and it was a 3 star. Going with the benefit of the doubt and giving them a 4 star, but that being said, at the menu prices they should really strive to be 4 plus stars every time. The first time we came they weren't crowded at all and we were seated immediately in the back area. Nice views from the windows and tons of local art line the walls (for sale) if you see something you like. One thing to know is that they are listed as one of the top 100 places to eat before you die. Pretty good classification to have. That time I had a burger and fries and was very pleased. Also, we had the tomato pie app which was really good too! Service was really good too, which made us really look forward to coming back. Fast forward to our next visit, and totally no fault of the restaurant, at 1:42 there was a 2 hour wait to be seated. We put our names down and left to explore for a bit (snack and local waterfall). We came back at about 3:15 and we were seated pretty quickly. Once we were seated (they really weren't very busy now) it took forever to get our drink orders to someone who happened to notice we still hadn't been helped (not our server). Once our drinks came out we waited 10 to 15 min for our server to come by and let us know he was our server, we had a couple questions, but otherwise were ready to order. Drink refills were slow and our food took quite awhile (we were pre-warned burgers would take a little bit). Burgers were good, but the Chicken Salad Sampler had some issues. We would have told our server, but once we caught his attention to get ketchup he disappeared. My gf liked the chicken salad as well as the crepe. The Tomato Pie however, tasted like it was literally the bottom of the barrel, heat lamp warmed for the past several hours and she was very unhappy with it, especially since she had been looking forward to this since we planned on coming here. For the price of a meal ($75 for lunch for 4) they need to have far better service and the food needs to be spot on. Waiters/Waitresses shouldn't be complaining about the fact that they are busy and don't like it (at least wait until you are in back and out of ear shot of customers). We would come back here, but this was a let down and we felt like the experience didn't match the price point. Very disappointed with this visit. read more

I've been to quite a few tourist traps and my visit to Wildflowers was another one added to the list. Mediocre food at fine dining prices, not sure if that's a recipe for success. read more

We went there for dinner last night and had the best time! Restaurant is a super cute, cozy and romantic atmosphere . Every table has little notes written from patrons before slid under the glass with dates commemorating anniversaries, birthdays or just when they were there. Food was OUT OF THIS WORLD. I got the tomato pie meal and my god, I need this recipe. My boyfriend got the smothered chicken which was equally as good. I also recommend the Parmesan dipping sauce and anything that involves their homemade ranch. read more

The food was nothing like we'd had in the past. The tomato pie was a presented on a paper plate unrecognizable as the described menu item. The tomatoes were tasteless and dough uncooked. The shrimp and grits had a shrimp like taste but no shrimp visible in the dish. The carrot cake was dry, tasteless and did not taste at all fresh, it appeared to have been previously frozen. I'd like to think we came on an off day and that would explain our experience. Arrived with a party of 4 and told it would be a thirty minute wait. Not a problem. A few minutes later our buzzer goes off. We go inside to be seated and were told we were a liar because we told them we only had two in our party. Not off to a great start. We are finally seated outside in a run down "patio" area. The flies and bugs were awful! We waited almost 45 minutes for our food. The prime rib sandwich was good but not for the money. Kids had $7 noodles and turned out to be a cup of noodles from the store. It's a shame because they are monopolizing on being the only restaurant near by. read more

You make it sound like I was writing this review. So disappointed in the paper plates, bowls and cups. One would think paying for a high price meal, it would be on real dishes, the potatoes would be warm (at least) and the kettle fried potatoes wouldn't be coming from a bag! So disappointed! I love this place. Very unique. If the prime rib is on the menu I really love to eat there. One of the best things about this place is being able to bring your own adult beverage and with no fee! The live music is usually very entertaining. Fun vibe. Reservations highly recommended. read more

Go here. Enjoy the live music. Find some interesting handmade finds in the gift shop. Eat tomato pie. Explore DeSoto falls after. Warning- your data on your phone probably will not work. I have Verizon and did not have data here in the mountains but they did give out the wifi password and give us directions to the falls. read more

Cute little place, but I wouldn't go back. Because we had our dog with us we sat out on the patio, I just placed a to- go order to carry out to the patio. The order took forever, if we hadn't already paid we would have left. We each got a small burger and it was pricey for the small sandwich and homemade potato chips. Sadly the burgers were also over cooked and dry. Maybe we just got a bad order, it happens. They had people waiting to get in, and more than willing to wait, quite a few locals, so there's that. There were three of us who were passing through Mentone about lunchtime. Yelp reviews led us to Wildflower where we arrived just before the doors open at 11 a.m. There was a crowd of Red Hat ladies waiting, but we went in an registered even though we were afraid that service would be slow. We were assured that there was extra staff and that they had pre-ordered so we took a chance. I am glad we did as the food was good, service was fine, and the sweet tea was excellent. And, the bathrooms were more than adequate. We had chicken salads and a crepe and we were plenty full when finished. The place is cutesy, but the servings are large enough to be satisfying. So BAD!!! COMICAL HOW BAD IT IS. $135 for cheap food from the store. Nothing against Sister Schubert rolls. They're good for Spaghetti night. Oh, how far we have fallen. used to be THE place to dine in Mentone, but no longer. Paper plates and plastic cups at this price point?!? Adding insult to injury, nothing on our plates was hot. if I'm paying almost $60 (!) for a filet, do I not deserve stoneware, metal utensils and hot sides? Try the Hatter cafe just down the road for fresh, hot food in a cozy environment and excellent service. Dinners are only served on Friday and Saturday, but they're open other days for breakfast and lunch. And bring your own wine, if you want! And if you must have a great filet mignon, mosey on down to Fort Payne where Santa Fe will consistently serve you a tender, perfectly-cooked steak for less money. read more

I can't believe I'm 46 years old and have just heard about this place recently. It is seriously the best kept secret in Alabama. There is absolutely no cell service so you're forced to communicate with your love. Our service was amazing, our server had an amazing accent and was attentive without being overbearing. The ambiance reminds me of some of the quaint restaurants we've eaten at in NYC. It's an old rustic building with all kinds of decor that I truly can't even put into words. Eclectic, and kinda reminds me of Serendipity 3 in NYC. Each section of the restaurant is in smaller areas. We sat in what appeared to be a sunroom of sorts. The room reminded me of a little Italian restaurant we love in NYC. We were there on Sunday afternoon and there was a man with a guitar standing in the center room gently strumming and singing soothing songs. I'm not even kidding when I say it was amazing. My new favorite local place to eat! The food... yummy! We had the kettle chips & ranch dressing as our appetizer. Hubs had a filet and I had shrimp scampi. It was amazing! Hubby also had a piece of peanut butter pie and raved about how yummy it was. We will be back and frequently! I just hope it's this relaxing and yummy every time! We took a motorcycle ride up to Mentone this past weekend - the farmer's market was awesome. We'd heard about Wildflower and it seemed like a can't miss place - especially after reading reviews on Yelp! First off, the atmosphere, and the staff, are awesome - very comfortable - and they really make you feel at home. My wife and I split a tomato pie (my wife makes a tomato pie that is out of this world) - this one was not. The tomatoes were good, but the dish itself was kind of a glob of cheese and tomatoes with some cold parmesan thrown on top - to be a "pie" I was hoping for a crust - did not find it. We also split a chicken salad sandwich - the chicken salad was just overly strained- had the consistency of baby food - the ingredients in it were good, but it was just too mushy. For dessert, we split a piece of hummingbird cake. This was fresh out of the refrigerator - cold, the cream cheese frosting just stuck to the roof of my mouth and could feel the fat separating - additionally, the cake itself was very dry - just not good at all. Our table was near the kitchen, and my wife observed one of the cooks warming up crepes, several times, with a microwave - fortunately we didn't order crepes. For our meal, one appetizer, one entree, and one dessert, our bill was $33. The Wildflower no longer has indoor dining. Not due to COVID but due to septic issues. I wish this had been mentioned on their website. We got off our vacation route to go here and probably wouldn't have if I'd know about their issues. We waited outside on a chilly fall day over an hour for our food. The food was good but not hot or even warm. We dinned outside amongst many yellow jackets and a port a potty. I will not be back till the septic issues are resolved. read more
