We were mistaken; there were no iPhone 3G(s) phones anywhere in Ontario -- could not get them for love nor money. We weren't about to purchase phones we didn't want, since we'd only qualify for the promotional price for the phones once, so we left unsatisfied. Found a pay-phone and called our new landlord, who met us at the house. After a walkthrough of our new premises, after settling the cats in with litter-box and water, after hastily unloading the car, we took our exhausted selves off to find someplace open for dinner at 9:30 at night. The shopping mall a couple of blocks from our house had a bar/grill called "Shoeless Joe's" that was open; the bar was crowded, so we opted to eat in the quiet dining room. Our waitress was pleasant, personable and efficient; she was also, apparently, being given a hard time by some drunkies in the bar next door (we overheard her conversing with the manager about refusing service to someone). Well, we weren't going to give anyone any trouble, tired and hungry as we were. I got the lobster fettuccine with tomato cream sauce; His Goatness got the meaty-meat platter with hickory smoked BBQ ribs and chicken wings with a smoked jalapeño honey sauce. We ordered the Sleeman's Honey Ale, which a friend of ours declaimed as her favorite beer -- it arrived in a can that was so plain and cheap-looking as to appear generic. The taste: flat as a pre-teen training bra. No complexity, no real flavor. What a disappointment! Dinner: late-night bar food chain standard, like what could be found in any Chile's or TGI Friday's. (HG liked his meaty-meat better than I liked my entree. What I tasted of the lobster suggested that it was better I not really taste it through the heavy sauce.) Not bad with a decent tasting dressing. The main was a blacken chicken burger ($24.00) with a side of fries. The fries were the dusted ones & they're not my favourite. The chicken Sammy was good but missing flavour. Our server was a young lady named Lilah. She was delightful & funny & we enjoyed her table service. I'd go here again.

Then it shifted to screaming "CHEAP"! We sat at the bar as the hostess said the seating was full but it looked FAR from full. It also didn't fill up during the time we were there either. Then I looked closer & many things fell apart. The service was slow, the food was both mediocre and had super small portion size. The draft beer size LOOKED big but in reality it was more like a 12oz pint with a really big mug. It was Taco Tuesday. The Tacos were $3.49/taco, beef or chicken. They were a decent size but virtually tasteless & the meat on both was completely dried out completely. I ordered the house signature wings, xtra saucy ($18.99) for a Pound. They should have been embarrassed by what they turned out! They were exactly opposite to what the menu said. They were TINY & almost devoid of sauce! I'm unclear as to what the obstacle is for saucy wings!? All in all...this is definitely NOT a do over or a recommend.

Review of The Canadian Brewhouse - Kitchener Location…read more Overall Rating: 1 out of 5 stars (Poor/Inedible) Our recent experience at the Kitchener location was extremely disappointing, marked by logistical issues, slow service, and significant quality problems with the food. First Impressions & Seating Upon arrival, the entrance area was poorly managed. With a party of five, there was literally no space to stand while waiting, which created an immediate bottleneck and awkward experience for both our group and others entering/exiting. Service & Drinks Once seated, we ordered drinks promptly. While the Diet Pepsi, Lemonade, and water were fine, the Club Soda was noticeably flat. Our food order took an excessive 45 minutes to arrive, and only after our server proactively checked on the kitchen's status. Food Quality - Major Issues The most critical issue was the quality of the food across multiple dishes. It was unacceptable. Items ordered: Spicy Hickory Burger: WAY overcooked/burnt. The taste of char dominated the flavour. The accompanying fries were the only saving grace. Canadian Burgers with cheese and bacon: The burger itself was burnt, and the bacon was burnt crispy. The sweet potato fries were soggy. Creamy Chicken Alfredo with mushrooms: Minimal chicken (only 1 sliver initially). When a replacement chicken breast was provided, it was burnt. Creamy Chicken Alfredo (no mushrooms): The pasta itself was mediocre ("meh"), but the portion of chicken was generous, receiving the fewest complaints from our party. Chorizo Mac and Cheese (new menu item): Inedible. The flavour was utterly appalling--metallic and burnt, tasting like "dirt sautéed in a dirty pan." I had to spit it out. The pasta also featured pieces of unmelted cheese, indicating poor preparation. We also signed up for the app (before we got our food) to get the free appetizer which was a cheesy garlic bread. We got it with marinara for take home. After you peel off the burned bacon and cheese layer, you're left with a decent pizza dough to dip in decent marinara. Conclusion The pervasive issue of burnt food (affecting three out of five entrées) and the truly inedible quality of the new Chorizo Mac and Cheese indicates a severe breakdown in the kitchen. Combined with the cramped waiting area and slow service, we cannot recommend this location and hope management addresses these fundamental quality control issues immediately. On the bright side, our waitress was nice. We will never eat here again.

*Shameful service leaving two 90+yr olds without a Christmas dinner*…read moreWe called Milestones at the Boardwalk first, detailing our wish to have a nice steak dinner delivered to two nonagenarians (as a treat for them from the bland Meals on Wheels dinners, they usually get). We live out of town and could not deliver ourselves. They told us to pre-order with Skip The Dishes. We filled out the online form with 'Skip' on December 22nd, with a 4:45 to 5:15 pm delivery window. Gave explicit detailed instructions for delivery including their phone number for building access, reference to them being elderly and added a good tip. Total bill was $135.90 We rec'd a phone call from the Skip driver at 8:15 pm on the 24th. Saying he could not get them to answer their phone to let him in. Well guess why? That was 3 hours later than the pre-determined delivery window. He then told us he had just received the delivery notice from Milestones 20 minutes earlier!! Huh?? Well, by that time they had eaten a self-prepared simple meal and the woman had gone to bed. The man was on his way to bed. We started calling their apartment ourselves, and finally the 93-year old man buzzed the driver in. He was pretty upset and disappointed. Too late to try and eat it, he had a peak at the food and was surprised to see such a small offering of food. The "mixed grill" of vegetables was according to him - a raw carrot and a couple of peas. He told us that he would have to make a side dish himself in order to make the meal enough to eat. When they attempted to eat the dinner the next day described the steak as "black" on the outside and "raw" on the inside, and incredibly tough to chew. Over the next 3 days, we tried to call Milestones and speak to the manager "Gavin". We were repeatedly assured he would call us "the next day". On the 3rd day, we spoke to someone identifying himself as the head cook, and he told us to call 'Skip', but that he would still have Gavin call on the 27th. Surprise, surprise - no call. An online chat with a 'Skip' employee (Nicole B.) resulted in many apologies and a whopping refund of $57.00. I was repeatedly told by Nicole that Skip's company policy did not allow her to give back a full refund. And only food costs are covered. I asked to escalate to Admin, and she ended the chat window. And we just finally got through to a managerial assistant at Milestones, who denies any responsiblity (even for the poor quality of the food) blaming it all on 'Skip'. Kept telling us to call them. I kept telling her we had. And reminded her that it was Milestones who told us to use 'Skip' in the first place. Bah Humbug both to Milestones and to Skip the Dishes.
