I saw on my Instagram feed that this Wild Wing location in Stouffville was celebrating its grand re-opening. There was a wing special going on. I love wings. No, really, I LOVE wings. The fact that there was a deal made me flag it.
Markham has three Wild Wing locations. Have I been to any of them? No. There's also a Wild Wing roughly seven minutes away from my home in northern Scarborough (sounds exotic saying northern... haha), steps away from Cinnaholic. Have I been there? Nope.
It occurred to me that I have only been to Wild Wing in the States. Yesterday, my visit to this location is my first in Canada.
This Wild Wing is located in a plaza, across from a Japanese restaurant that I have flagged for eons. There was plenty of parking at around 3 pm. I parked and walked in.
I was immediately greeted my a nice man behind the bar. I asked if I could sit anywhere. He said yes and I found a nice table that faces two television screens. One had the Blue Jays losing badly to the Yankees. The other had the Florida Gators demolishing the Tennessee Volunteeers in NCAA football. I like the effect that I have on lopsided outcomes.
I looked at the drink specials. It was Saturday and classic cocktails were going for $6. I asked the man, who was highly attentive, what the classic cocktails were. He showed me a list. I went with a long island iced tea.
Moments later, he came with my cocktail in a mason jar, with a lemon slice. Nice! It was good. I was happy.
With the wing special, you get a pound of wings at 50% off the regular price when you purchase a beverage. This drink detail wasn't mentioned in the Instagram account. When you think about it, you need a drink anyway when you down wings.
I went with unbreaded wings in mango chipotle dry rub. The pound of wings come with fries. I upgraded to poutine for an extra $2.50. I am still on a poutine kick. It also comes with celery and carrot sticks, with ranch dip.
My meal came pretty quickly, probably because there was me and a couple dining at this hour. My food looked good.
The poutine gravy was good. It had more pepper in it than I was expecting, but I loved it. The gravy was hot enough to melt the cheese curds. At one stage, I had the best cheese pulls happening. I was happy and it was fun playing with the cheese pull creations that I was making. The fries were what you typically expect, but definitely tasted better with gravy and cheese curds.
I loved my wings. The mango chipotle had a mild kick to them. The wings were large and yummy.
The veggies offered a nice contrast to my meal. I dipped them in the ranch dressing. I loved it all.
This restaurant offers two flavours of The Cheesecake Factory cheesecakes. Part of me wanted to bring a slice of the white chocolate raspberry cheesecake home. I decided not to, as I was so stuffed and didn't think that I could down it later on in the day. I'll do it next time.
I paid using a credit card. Cash and debit cards are accepted. Another server came over and helped run my transaction through the machine. All went well.
The women's washroom was clean. I liked the red paper towel and black soap dispensers. It looked so modern. Both have sensors when you put your hands under them.
I liked dining here. I rarely take the time to eat in Stouffville, as I tend to run errands. Service was stellar!
Congrats on your grand re-opening, Wild Wing! I had a great experience.
