Went for a Sunday brunch and don't think I'll be back for another. It wasn't that crowded for a late Sunday breakfast when we first arrived , but you wouldn't know that with the staff. Was asked whether I ordered a coffee with my brunch three times by three different servers and in the end, never really knew who was our real server. I figured they might have not been able to hear me due to the blaring salsa music flooding out of the kitchen with the percussion of plates and glasses being thrown into the sink. With the first few sips of weak coffee, the morning rush started to flow in through the front doors and I felt it was imperative to get our orders in before the masses. Ordered the Eggs Florentine, a standard wild wheat breakfast, half a blintz , and chicken sausage patties on the side. When we received our food everything just looked below average. Wheat bread was cold (asked for it to be toasted) and not very 'wild', eggs had no flavor and not 'my way'. I do recall asking for them to be scrambled but fail to remember asking for parsley to be mixed in. Chives if you got them, but parsley? ....If you are going to be creative , lets start with a pinch of salt. Now their introduction mentions Wild Wheat as a family restaurant where they 'don't cut corners' ,but that's literally all I received with my home fries. Plate was crowded with potatoes skins and burnt edges. Once again, a total lack of flavor. Finally the low point of it all was the chicken breakfast patties. They looked like crab cakes and tasted like meatloaf with the huge chucks of onion. Don't get them. All this side plate will do is leave you confused with a weird taste in your mouth and out the extra 5 bucks. One plus is that the booths toward the back have massage seats,.... or come to think of it, I don't remember adding quarters anywhere.... Might have just been the frequent trains shaking the back walls every 10 minutes. The overall experience kept me from further checking out the baked goods and spending more at the counter. I decided to give this place a try with all the good reviews. Went in at 11:30am and as soon as I walked in I didn't like the vibe. It was sort of busy and it took awhile for someone to greet us at the door to be seated. A young teenager finally pointed to a table and said we could sit there. Didn't walk us to the table, didn't give us a menu or assure us someone would be right with us. I had to tell someone at the counter that we were ready to order. We weren't sure if it was still breakfast because the menu says breakfast is served until 11, but there was a sign near the front door that said breakfast was until11:30. When a waitress (I think the manager on duty) took our order we asked if we could have the onion rings and she said it was still breakfast at 11:50 and that they were "too busy " to make lunch stuff. Didn't really make sense as it was nearly noon. While we waited for our food we could see that there was no organization with the customer service. There were a bunch of teenagers running around with what seemed like no customer service skills by the way they talked to the way they worked in general. A little training would go a long way. When I we got our food the biscuits and gravy were underwhelming. My omelette wasn't bad. Before the we left I checked the pasties and picked up two cookies and one cinnamon roll. Neither were impressive. Needless to say, I don't think I'll be back. I really want to like this place. read more

Stopped in about 1:00 on a Sunday afternoon and found the place busy and crowded. Being alone, got a table within about ten minutes. A nice breakfast menu, featuring the usual morning fare, and ordered a very tasty and generously portioned omelette with white cheddar, onion, and portabella mushrooms, priced at $14.50. The overall price - about $22/person with coffee and tip - makes it a little spendy for everyday but the quality of the ingredients makes it a weekend treat. I had lunch with a friend here on Tuesday and we both enjoyed it very much. I had the hot chicken club sandwich. It has grilled chicken and white cheddar along with bacon, lettuce, and tomato. It was delicious. I had the pasta salad as my side and it was good too. It has quite a tang. I bought two cookies from their bakery case to take home: the vanilla/chocolate swirl and the Russian tea cake. Both were very good! They also had pies, individual fruit tarts, and cheese cake among other delicious looking sweets. They also sell many wonderful breads. We were served a basket of sliced bread and rolls when we sat down. My friend had their Ruben sandwich and her side was mushroom soup. Used to be great! Something has changed, and not for the better. Brought out of town friends here early Sat morning. Place literally had screaming kids! Ddebated leaving, but stayed. Ordered normal food. Took a while to get food. Eggs were cold, toast was hard as a rock, and freezer jam was watered down to the point of being syrup. By the time we left they were 6 screaming kids. Can't even hold a conversation. The noise level is horrible here. Used to love this place, now it's horrible and not worth it anymore, so bye. Gonna find a new breakfast place. read more

We got seated immediately but it took at least 20 minutes for our order to get taken. While we were waiting, we noticed the tables were sticky, there were flies everywhere, and there was a dead fly on the table. When we got our order taken, the staff was nice and accommodating and at least our drinks came out quickly. The orange juice and apple juice was freshly squeezed and really quite good. When we got our food it was very good! It was also fairly priced. The french toast had the right amount of sweet and saltiness. The Egg Florentine was just what we expected, delicious! Time for an update! I brought my mom here for her birthday a few weeks ago. I had low expectations but wanted to go somewhere nice and close. I'm happy to say that I had the best experience that I'd ever had here! We ordered the eggs florentine and blueberry blintzes. Both dishes were quite good! My eggs florentine was tasty with a nice hollandaise sauce and well-cooked potatoes. The eggs could've been a little more runny, but the dish as a whole was still good. I appreciated the bread that my eggs sat on. It wasn't rock hard like it has been in the past. This was our first time trying blintzes and we're fans! Love that it comes with sour cream and that the blintzes are not overly sweet. It wasn't hard to finish the plate at all. So, food is good, service was fine, but the restaurant could definitely use a deep cleaning. We were seated by the windows and there were tons of giant flies buzzing around us. Around the windows you could see some dust and what appears to be mold. Every time a busser came by with a cleaning rag I got a huge whiff of wet dog lol. read more

I came in off a very quiet downtown Kent street into a lively breakfast eatery. Staff was quick to seat us and quick to get to us with beverages. I was freezing so I wanted a mocha quickly to warm me innards. Eats for us consisted of a couple of omelettes and the buckwheat pancakes. Now I really wanted to give this place 4 stars, but my pancakes had hardly any blueberries with them and while the eggs were great, they had more onions than anything else. Still, service with a smile and pretty good food. If I could, this would have been a 3 1/2 star place. Kent has a Historic District. Did you know that? I did not know that. But it does. Down by the train tracks. Wild Wheat is in that Kent Historic District. It's a charming place to laze away a Sunday morning. It's a big corner space with lots of windows that go almost floor to ceiling. There are tons of booths and tables, including a couple of fairly large communal tables--clearly, they're no strangers to families and other large gatherings among their clientele. The staff is young, chipper, and on top of everything. The coffee's good, and the breakfasts are delicious and hearty. It's the usual panoply of omelets, scrambles, home fries, toasts, and other delights, along with some pancakes and other shining envoys from the starch group. What I didn't get to try was the huge selection of baked goods. Where some places have a list of dozens of tea or shake flavors on the back of a laminated menu, this place a list of muffins and pastries and other things that keep wheat farmers in business. Everything smelled amazing, and there was always a long line. I'm thinking this is the place to hit for breakfast in the southland. read more

I can't remember the last time I paid that much for a salad, but I must say it was extremely satisfying. Surprisingly it was actually a large portion. I ordered a large and got a large, very good very good. Also the proportion of dressing to greens was on point. Home made croutons were delicious and no complaints about the salmon. My dad ordered a sandwich with fries. I tried the fries and they were definitely steal-worthy! My mom had this eggplant/butter squash linguine dish and my mom really liked it. However, I didn't find anything special about it. Although lunch was better than I had expected, I wouldn't recommend this place for lunch. I eat out to treat my taste buds to something real special, but there wasn't anything I'd consider trying or coming back again for. There is street parking or you can park at a parking lot about one block away from the restaurant. I came here with a friend on a late Friday morning. The restaurant was surprisingly very busy, but luckily there was a table available so we didn't have to wait. I ordered a hazelnut latte and I loved it! I would go back just for the coffee in the future. I also got the eggs florentine which I also enjoyed eating. My friend has been there many times and always gets the eggs Benedict. Great experience for breakfast this morning on the way to Northwest Trek. Three of us had omelettes, and my granddaughter had the Mickey Mouse pancake. The pancake quickly disappeared from our view. I happened to be in the Kent area so I searched for breakfast places. Wild Wheat Bakery Café and Restaurant popped up as the first result. It had over 100 reviews and 4 stars so I wanted to try it. Street parking was easy to find. The wait time was about 5-10 minutes. We were seated near the door so my fam member and I felt the cold draft every time customers walked in and out. I built my own omelette. While we waited I watched two Sounder trains packed with Seahawks fans roll on by towards Kent station. Service was good. Omelette was good. Fruit was good. Taters were good. I wanted so badly to fall in love with Wild Wheat, because it's absolutely adorable! However, we came and had just an average dining experience. We grabbed a little table by the window for breakfast this morning. Our server was pleasant and everything came out fast. I started my morning with a hot mocha, which was absolutely delicious. I would come back just to get that mocha! The price was reasonable at $3.50 for a 16 oz. For breakfast I ordered the Quiche Lorraine. It came with a side of potatoes and choice of toast (they have about 8 varieties; I chose raisin). The quiche was wonderful, aside from the crust. I enjoyed the bottom of the crust, but the edge was too thick and too sweet - almost like a shortbread. The raisin bread was tasty. The potatoes were bland and underseasoned so I left them. The portions were huge and the meal could have been shared by 2. My fiancé ordered the create-your-own omelet with sausage, peppers, and onions. It was tasty but the price added up since there is a charge for each topping. Also a very large portion. He also left the potatoes and didn't enjoy his sourdough toast - it was bland and didn't taste like much or anything. If I were to come back, we'd just share the quiche and have a mocha. I have loved this place for years. A few of the delicious things I've had: eggs Benedict, kalamata olive loaf bread, vegetable tempura, giant onion rings, roasted pear and gorgonzola salad, smoked chicken salad with goat cheese toast, tandoori chicken sandwich, wild wheat vegetarian sandwich, wild smoked salmon reuben sandwich, vegetarian grinder, too many scratch made soups to name, ALL of their giant cookies, key lime pie, marjolene cake, creme brûlée, fruit tarts, chocolate mousse cake, coconut cake. Nothing has disappointed me...everything has been flavorful and obviously cooked/baked with attention to flavor and detail. I feel like they are one of the last few standing local, dependable, non-chain restaurants. I'm pretty sure the owners are new-ish within the last couple of years and they have done a fantastic job of carrying over the attention to detail and focus on quality, flavorful food and excellent customer service. I wish I knew the manager's name (I know she is the owner's sister), but she goes above and beyond consistently. She's been there the last couple of times I've visited for pick-up orders and she, as well as the other staff members I communicated with are just on it. Love this place so much! The key lime pies I ordered today were by far the best key lime pie I've ever had. My 11 co-workers agreed. The pie was not green in color but a light yellow with flecks of key lime rind, just the right amount of tartness. The crust was thick and flaky. The whipped cream cut the tartness perfectly. I make the drive down here from Seattle because I love the pastries and food here so much. I've been here a handful of times and experienced decent customer service, until this last Sunday when I visited. My friend and I arrived around 2:00 and was told that they were closing in "25 minutes" but it was okay and would be able to order with "no rush". We decided pretty quickly what we wanted, but when my friend asked the waitress what toast options were available, she stayed silent and only pointed at the list on the menu, looking annoyed that he even asked. Second, we were in the middle of our meals and were interrupted by a busboy who asked if we were "done using our ketchup and hot sauce" so he could clear them off the table. I didn't realize that we had a time limit on using our condiments. Third, our waitress came by only once, completely ignoring us the majority of the time. However we witnessed her spending lots of time chatting with other customers that she was familiar with. Guess you only get treated like you aren't inconveniencing them if they know you personally? Needless to say, if you say you close at 2:30pm, don't begin clearing dishes off at 2:15pm, let alone while customers are still eating. If you have an issue with getting customers out of the door quickly, maybe just consider closing at an earlier time. Obviously that's all the kids that work here care about. read more

By Far the best breakfast in Kent!!! GREAT FOOD, Friendly staff, quick service, good atmosphere. I had the Eggs Benedict and I can honestly say it was up there with the best I've ever had. The only reason I didn't give 5 Stars were, that I wished there would have been a little more ham with the Benedict. For $15 it felt a bit skimpy the ham was fantastic so layer it on! Also the large open floor plan makes for a slightly above average ambient noise level but nothing that would be unexpected. I went here a few weeks ago because of the good reviews on Yelp. We are new in the area and we're looking for a good place to take my in-laws. We arrived on a Sunday morning around 9:30 and were seated right away. When we left around 11, the place was packed and had a pretty good amount of people waiting to sit down. The wait staff were prompt and polite. My menu could have used a little wipe down, as it had some residue on it. However, I was pleased with the selections and everyone in my party tried something different. I really wanted to try to crab and asparagus omelette but I just couldn't bring myself to pay $20 for it. Maybe next time! I ordered the chai tea latte and for some reason it seemed like it had 5 extra shots of expresso in it. Although not my flavor, it was good and I didn't say anything because I was fine with it. I first stumbled upon this cute restaurant when I was walking my dog in downtown Kent, which is a very small, quiet, and quaint area that is 2 blocks away from Kent Station. I really enjoyed the vibe of the entire restaurant--very positive, close neighborhood, and very friendly. I really liked the very tall windows of the restaurant because it allows so much light to be let in the restaurant. I look at the menu and I quickly notice that they specialize in baked goods and breakfast foods, PERFECT! I got the dungenous crab and asparagus omelet with wheat toast and roasted potatoes. The potatoes were most likely the BEST roasted potatoes I've ever had. They were seasoned so well and had alot of delicious flavors. The omelet was very yummy too! The eggs were cooked perfectly and when I bit into the crab meat and asparagus I was happy with what I ordered. My brother got the pancakes, and I concur with him saying that they were the best pancakes he ever had. They were so fluffy and scrumptious!! I got the orange juice and it tasted good too!! If you walk over to the display case of some of the baked goods, you can also order from there too. They had a wide variety of scones, croissants, rolls, and cakes! My husband and I found ourselves driving at an ungodly hour to Sea-Tac Airport from Portland Airport due to a storm that prevented our flight from going out in Portland and our desire to escape to the sunshine of Arizona.
