I made a reservation online and arrived there on time, but we still had to wait about 30 minutes before being seated. That was a bit disappointing. From the outside, the restaurant looks somewhat older, but the inside feels cozy and comfortable. The atmosphere was pleasant overall. It seemed quite busy, which may explain why it took some time for our server to come by and for the food to arrive. The staff was polite, just a little stretched. The food itself was average. Just a heads-up, the entrance can be a bit tricky, and parking can be a challenge since it's quite crowded. Try entering from different sides of the street--you might have some luck! The food is fantastic. But, you know, you have to see it for yourself. I'm a big fan of all the Eggs Benedict plates, having tried them all at some point. They really take pride in their food, and it's almost perfect. Parking can be a bit of a pain, especially on weekends and holidays, so be ready to wait. The Potato Head casserole is amazing. I told my excellent server that I usually don't order the same thing twice at restaurants, but I would order it again. He commented that it has tasty flavor profiles, and he is right. I finished off my meal with a blueberry muffin which came with delicious, light whipped butter, and it was perhaps the best blueberry muffin I have ever had. The server was fun and friendly and used an handheld electronic ordering device to input each customization and read them back to the group. All 14 of us got just what we wanted and ordered!! Breakfast yesterday here with a friend. I had biscuits and gravy and two eggs on the side over hard. The biscuits and gravy come with either a bacon gravy, which is like a traditional white sausage, type gravy or a chorizo gravy and I got half-and-half. I thought that it would come one gravy poured over one biscuit and the other gravy poured over the other biscuit, but it was The biscuits mixed on one plate and the sauce was poured over half of the plate and the other half on the other half of the plate. I'm one of those people that don't like certain things to touch, so I should have been more clear and asked specifically, now that I think about it for the gravy on the side, but I was able to eat my meal happily half down the plate and then I turned and ate the other half of the plate. The biscuits were good. I think there were three in total under the gravy and I like both gravy choices, but I do actually prefer the more traditional bacon gravy. The eggs over hard were cooked perfectly. My friend had the loco hash and she loved it and I think that was the first time she had tried that one. Service was terrific!! Coffee is always great here. Since we were close by for a medical procedure recently Wild Eggs was the closest place to get breakfast. We were seated immediately and given water and menus. We ordered our drinks, however, it took several minutes to get our drinks and place our food order. Then it was a while before the food arrived. The food was average at best this visit. My server Amy was wonderful and gave great, fast service. My breakfast burrito was good as always. I only took off a star because this location DESPERATELY needs to be updated. The sign on top of the building looks like it caught on fire and never got replaced. There's multiple places where paint has chipped on the walls. There's mold on some of the ceiling tiles. When you park out back you get out and the first thing you see is a ratty swivel chair in a shed beside the dumpster. I know this is probably the oldest location of the ones in Louisville but it used to be so much nicer. Shame the appearance has gotten so run down. read more

The wifey and I were feeling some breakfast with the family. We saw some good reviews for this location and decided to give it a shot. We got right in and got seated. Ambiance was pretty good, not crazy loud and nice enough to not have to yell at each other. It was nice to be able to speak to my father in law that is losing his hearing! When we got seated, it did take time to get our drinks. After we ordered our food, it also took a good chunk of time to receive the food. We waited for ours to get cold as we didn't get any silverware. (Not a major deal I guess. Food was nice to look at. Would have been nice to eat though!) after 3 minutes we got our silverware and we were in there like swimwear. I would say overall the food was ok. I wouldn't say it was a game changer, but it wasn't bad. Maybe I just got the wrong food? I tried the potato head casserole. After looking at the bill, I felt that it was overpriced for the smaller breakfast portions. This turned me off from the place personally. Even though he had to work super early on New Year's Day, he was so chipper! Everyone who worked there was great!! Very casual place. Plenty of free parking. The great thing about Wild Eggs is you can pretty much get a half order of anything! They're very accommodating! We got a Big Stack ($9.99) to share. I wasn't a huge fan of the pancakes and I actually wouldn't get them again. They weren't cakey enough for me. I got the Surfer Girl Omelet ($12.99). It was good! The potatoes were perfectly crispy! I got a blueberry muffin with it and that was delicious! Others got Zax I Am Fried Eggs with Bacon ($8.99 + $3.49), Farmers Market Skillet ($12.99), Chicken & Waffles ($14.99), and two people split The Mad Platter ($15.99). Everyone enjoyed theirs! My wife and I stopped in for breakfast yesterday. We've eaten at a few different Wild Eggs restaurants in Louisville, this one was about the same. The eggs are usually cooked the way we like them. The service is pretty good. The atmosphere is ok. In my opinion the Wild Eggs are mediocre at best. Not a great experience! The only redeeming qualities were our server, freshly squeezed orange juice, and the breakfast tots. My party of 3 ordered the Eggs Bennie, Bloody Mary Grilled Cheese, and the seasonal Cowboy Skillet. The bennie came out with over cooked poached eggs and stale potatoes. We asked our server to re-fire the eggs. This took about 10 minutes and everyone had finished eating by the time they came out. The manager took this off our bill. My grilled cheese was wet and soggy. Flavor was there but the eatability was not. One bite made the whole thing fall apart. Would love a golden brown crispy exterior! The Cowboy Skillet was good! The cup of grits with whipped butter satisfied my craving for southern food. (At least for this morning). Yum! The spinach was also not overcooked. Very healthy. I'd definitely order this again. Wild eggs is a super popular and always crowded breakfast and brunch establishment in the hospital district of the st Mathews portion of Louisville Kentucky just off Dutchman's lane. I've made a few trips here in the past and stopped by for another visit today with my oldest and youngest daughters after a doctor appointment for them today. Seeing as this is a popular spot locally it is probably fitting that this is my 1,000th yelp review. As mentioned a few times already I've never seen this establishment not absolutely slammed packed. If you show up on a Friday Saturday or Sunday I'd expect an hour or so wait. I've found that a weekday (not Friday) after 9am is the best bet. I arrived today with my daughters today which is a Thursday at 930am and we were lucky enough to get the last remaining table open. The decor of this establishment is very "homey" as it has the southern farm style type setup. Very clean place and I'd say it is medium sized on the inside. Service here is always top notch and the workers are always friendly. I've sampled a few different things over the years here. They have a good stuffed fresh toast and a solid breakfast quesadilla. My personal favorite is the Kelly's hot brown which is there take on a famed local dish known as a Kentucky hot brown. Except they make it a breakfast dish (they add an egg to it). It is a very good meal. The Bacon and Mornay sauce in it is very good and the sourdough toasted bread is great as well. On this recent visit my daughter got a "Sammy" sandwich which is just an ordinary breakfast sandwich. She liked it a lot but was jealous of my meal. She evidently didn't realize they had other food options on the back. She did get an iced latte that they had to remove Alcohol from. They evidently have an extensive liquor coffee menu to go with mimosas. So when she ordered it the waiter joked "how strong do you want your liquor?". But he said they can serve it without the alcohol in it for her. The baby got a scrambled egg and seemed to like it but not as much as she liked my oldest daughters side of grits. Overall they have a pretty expansive menu with interesting and yummy choices. My biggest issue is they are pretty high. I'd say about 3-4 bucks more a plate compared to other comparable local places. But they do have really good food and service so I'm ok coming here every now and then assuming it is not a Friday-Sunday. Overall I really do enjoy this place. And like I said the hot brown breakfast dish is top notch. I'd come more often if it weren't for 3 things. One I'm not a big fan of waiting long times for breakfast or brunch (a good problem for them to have). Two there parking lot is an absolute mess and very tight and small. With a place this popular it causes traffic jams to maneuver in and out of and it never fails to frustrate me. 3rd and final is as mentioned they are on the high end price was. They do have a few more locations in other popular spots of Louisville. I need to check those out soon so I can compare And contrast locations. I do like the connivence of this location though because it is right where all the hospitals and a lot of doctor offices are. So it works good when I book my kids an early dr apt and running around for a late breakfast before taking them back to school. read more
