We recently ate at Metro Diner after attending a local event with our daughter and daughter-n-law. While I typically prefer eating at locally owned, non-chain establishments, this was convenient and we had not tried it. The diner is huge with a plethora of seating, and we were seated immediately. Our server arrived within several minutes to get our order and returned in a timely manner with the drinks. Everyone in our party opted for breakfast options, despite it being mid-afternoon when we arrived. My review can only speak to the breakfast options. Everyone was pleased with their food, and I would compare the quality to that of the average diner experience. The portions were huge. One person in our party got the mimosa flight and they were just okay in my opinion. Our server was attentive, keeping our drinks topped off regularly. It appears that Metro is a well-loved spot as it remained very busy during our entire visit. Parking is plentiful as the diner is located in a strip mall.

Metro Diner never disappoints! I ordered the San Francisco Benedict and it was fantastic, perfectly cooked eggs, rich hollandaise, and great flavor all around. The portion was generous and everything came out hot and fresh. On top of that, our waitress was amazing, friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Great food and great service make this a place I'll definitely be coming back to. Highly recommend.

We stopped into this diner after The PUG FEST at the Kentucky Fairgrounds to grab dinner. As per my usual, I had breakfast for dinner (gravy w/ biscuit, eggs, hash browns, sausage). Right up there with the Waffle House albeit a bit more $$$. My daughter-in-law opted to include a Mimosa flight with her entree. Chicken and waffles seemed to be the most ordered entree judging from the tables nearby. Clean restaurant with comfortable seating and prompt service.

We had a really good time during our very first trip to Metro Diner. The service was friendly and super efficient. We didn't wait very long to order and our food came out pretty quickly as well. I ordered the Avocado Bowl (minus Hollandaise Sauce) and it was DELICIOUS! My husband and I shared the Cinnamon Roll Pancakes to boot, mainly because I just HAD TO give those a try. They were also extremely scrumptious! The ambience is very reminiscent of old fashioned diners. We will definitely be back!

Roast turkey dinner and pot roast.

Since we were nearby at the Preston 16 Cinema this was a perfect stop for dinner. Reasonable prices and no nonsense home cooked meals is their forte. Service was very good and food was filling. My wife ordered the pot roast special and I went with the roast turkey dinner. Of course my wife came home with leftovers. Unfortunately there wasn't room for dessert.

Special board.

You order at the window, take a buzzer, get your drinks and find somewhere to sit. We (a party of 4) showed up around 11 on a Sunday morning and the line was already out the door. We had a hard time deciding what to order because everything we saw coming out before us looked just as delicious as the last. After the owner greeted us and gave a run down while in line, we settled on the shrimp and grits, steak and eggs, bread pudding french toast with a side of bacon, and a chicken and bacon croissant sandwich. (I wanted to order the biscuits and gravy weekend feature but they were already sold out.) The girl at the register was polite but very soft spoken so we had trouble hearing what she said. The coffee was the perfect temperature for drinking immediately without scalding yourself, and the different flavorings and types of milk/cream to choose from was a major plus! There were no complaints about any of our food except the steak was a bit under seasoned. I had the french toast, and, in my opinion, is enough for 2 people. There was a bit too much whipped buttercream for me but I was able to rake off majority, and the fruit that came on top was so fresh! The bacon was thick sliced and 3 of my 4 pieces were cooked perfectly to my liking - not too crispy, not too soft! We all were part of the clean plate club after eating because the food was that good! I wished now we would have taken pics of our food before eating! It's a shame it came up as #16 on my Yelp search because it wasn't even the least bit on my radar for our breakfast spot. But luckily, the tag line, "The second best thing you can do in the morning", caught the attention of one our male guests Definitely will be back when the chance arises!

The restaurant has a back parking lot and on street parking - the restaurant is quite large with two indoor seating areas and outdoor patio seating. The menu is large with a big brunch menu, lunch and entree options and kid's menu. We started with the s'mores hot chocolate and apple cider mimosas. The hot chocolate was pipping hot and delicious topped with toasted marshmallows. The apple cider mimosas had a weird flavor, I would recommend going with another fruit juice option. We ordered the kids buttered noodles with waffle on the side - big wide noodles that were swimming in butter. My son thought it was too much butter but loved the type of noodles. The waffle was good - not very sweet but he enjoyed it. My daughter loved the chicken and waffles entree, but I thought the portion was a bit small for an adult entree. The chicken was freshly breaded but the waffle was on the smaller side. The sandwiches and soups were delicious - we had the club which was filled with ham and turkey and the perfect amount of mayo. The tomato soup was creamy and so satisfying. The Ruben was a good size and stuffed with corned beef and melty cheese! Overall we had a great experience- a bit on the pricey side. It was $94 before tip at lunch.

Our server came to us in under a minute very fast, professional, and attentive. I ordered the cinnamon roll as an appetizer, and for my main breakfast I had the banana bread French toast, biscuits with eggs and cheese, and orange juice. The orange juice was amazing super fresh, natural, and sweet. The cinnamon roll was good (not the best I've ever had, but still enjoyable). The food overall was solid. The banana bread French toast was really good, the eggs were cooked well, and the biscuits and gravy were also very tasty. On the downside, one of the plates came out a little dirty, which wasn't great to see. Other than that, the place itself was clean, the staff was friendly, and the experience was enjoyable overall. When it's said "they don't make them like this anymore", this place is what they mean. Ornate, elaborate and straight out of another era. I didn't stay at the Brown, so don't know what the rooms are like but if the lobby is an indication, I think it would be pretty cool. Stopped into J. Graham's on a Weds afternoon at 12:30. It was about half full. Service is quick and friendly. From looking around the room, it seemed that most people ordered the Hot Brown even though there is an extensive menu of other options. The Hot Brown is an open-faced turkey sandwich. A thick slice of turkey is served over thick-sliced bread. The turkey is covered with mornay (béchamel with Gruyère cheese), topped with bacon, sprinkled with parmasean and broiled in a gratin-dish, served with a roasted tomato. It's gooey and cheesy, turkey moist and tender, bacon crisp. Very hearty, very filling. Unique, definitely worth trying. Not sure I'm having another one, but glad I experienced it.

I almost always get the Wake Up Burrito, which is loaded and satisfying, but I've heard great things about the breakfast sando, chilaquiles, and pancakes from friends too. The space has a cool, artistic vibe, the staff is welcoming, and it's the kind of place you want to linger at with a second cup of coffee. Whether you're a local or visiting, put this on your list!

I went to Foko after hearing nonstop hype about it being one of the absolute best breakfast spots…read morein Louisville. The place is positioned as this incredible Mexican breakfast destination, so I figured it had to be something special. Turns out it's just standard Mexican food and drinks. Even if they were using using "the freshest most highest quality ingredients", it doesn't show in the final product at all. Heres what i got: The Espresso Martini ($14) was actually decent--nice and foamy with a solid chocolate note. The Carajillo ($8), on the other hand, was weak. It tasted like plain iced coffee with zero detectable alcohol. I wouldn't order it again. The Wake Up Burrito $14: their biggest hype item. I got it and added chorizo for $3.50, bringing the total to nearly $17.50. It's sausage, cheese, eggs, and beans wrapped up--pretty good, but nothing groundbreaking. Without their green sauce it's completely average, no different from any regular breakfast burrito at a diner. The green sauce itself is what really the only saving grace, but they serve it in tiny thimble-size portions like they're guarding some secret recipe. So for $18 you get a medium-size burrito plus a couple of fried tortillas with cheese on the side. Compare that to mexican spot like Bandito, where the burritos are twice the size and cost much less. This one is seriously overrated. The Chilaquiles - I got the side order of these with the burrito, and were average at best. Just fried tortillas with cheese and a little sauce that had a slightly sour edge. Not bad, but nothing I'd call amazing. I thought to myself, if these had egg and beans(what the main dish has) , would I have been glad to pay $17? The answer is no. Ive had better at the airport. Bottom line: Foko is incredibly overrated. It feels like a tourist trap built for people for those Luisville people who who don't eat much Mexican food and think this is the pinnacle. I get it, the decor is nice and gives that "premium" feel but the prices are way too high for what you actually get. I won't be back.
