Frederick's Cafe was a dandy little diner we found during our recent trip. It had a decent sized menu of mostly breakfast items. I tried their Pork Tenderloin sandwich came with a fried hard egg on the sandwich as well. It was a simple and delicious sandwich as the pork was cooked perfectly as was the egg. The service was fine and the restaurant looked good too. I don't have too awful much more to say about it but our experience was good and I'd go again. read more

Stopped in on my way to an appointment, so was rushing. They were very accommodating, even making a fresh pot of decaf. The restaurant seemed cute, but I had to take my order to go, so can't really speak to the ambience. The food was nothing fancy, but delicious! Food is not good. I got a BLT but the bacon was so thin that all I tasted was lettuce and the copious amounts of mayonnaise they slathered on the bread (made it soggy). From the casino we were on our way to the Indiana caverns and wanted to grab some breakfast. Found this spot along the way and decided to make this our spot. Small spot in a cute small town. Inside the waitress greeted us and we sat wherever. It was a little toasty inside with stagnant air. Menu prices were good. I ordered the French toast which was okay. It was lacking in flavor, I'm not sure if it just wasn't cooked fully or what was going on, just was off. The bacon I ordered was amazing, best restaurant bacon I've had. Very crispy and just tasted good. The side of hash browns were also good. Service was great, prices were great, food was alright. Probably won't be back because we're not from the state, but if I did come through the small town again, I'd be willing to give it another go. read more

The food was amazing. We ordered the breakfast platter with eggs, bacon, french toast, and hash browns. The service was top notch and even catered to some of our special requests. I must be missing something based on the other reviews. We stopped for breakfast. I was immediately surprised by the prices. $9.49 for an omelette which only includes toast? Our server came to the table and told us they were out of country gravy and bread, and so my husband confirmed that also meant French toast? Yes. My husband ordered an orange juice which he said tasted more like Tang. My omelette was fine but certainly not worth close to $10 after tax. My husband ordered scrambled eggs, ham and hash browns w/cheese and onions. She even repeated it back to us. What he got was scrambled eggs with onions and cheese, no hash browns. As we left, we noticed our server bringing food out to another table which included an order of French toast. So we actually stopped and asked her (because now the hubs is really peeved) and she said, "yeah, must've been the last order". Huh. read more

In Corydon for the Autumn Extravaganza and thanks to Yelpers decided to try Frederick's for lunch. Definitely a locals type joint, good crowd of folks who did not look like tourists. We were seated right away. Waitstaff was hustling around clearing tables and setting them back up. The menu is not extensive. It's diner food. Breakfast sounded amazing but unfortunately, we were there after 11 am and it was lunch only at that point. I ordered the grilled ham and cheese on housemade bread. My companions had the BLT, the patty melt and the grilled chicken sandwich. Everyone enjoyed their food. It's nothing fancy and nothing special, just good, solid diner food. I had a cup of coffee that was very good. Our server was new, he was training and he was great. Nice guy. The woman training him was serious and focused but was also on top of everything and very efficient. The owner came by our table to ask how our meal was. She was very nice and for me, it's always great when the owner checks in with their guests. You don't get that at enough restaurants. Breakfast is extra tasty with fried sliced potatoes with grilled onions along side a BLT on home made bread that was tasty thick and opted for untoasted, making this sandwich a great choice. This is the best for any meal. The service is awesome and food is delicious. We loved the small town feel and historic location. A must stop whether you are just taking a leisurely country drive and stop in or a local resident. We especially loved the fact that they use a variety of coffee mugs and plates. Stopped in for breakfast before touring the town square and old Capitol building. It was about 8:30 on a Saturday and the place was full. Service was a bit slow and it took aver 30 mins to get our food. But when the food finally arrived...wow. That had to be one of the best breakfasts that I have ever had. The western omelette was packed with ham and veggies. The toast was a thick, homemade bread with a nice smear of butter. The biscuits and gravy were tasty with plenty of pepper, and the pancake was the size of a very large plate. If you aren't in a rush, check it out. Visiting from Northern Indiana to attend the Mid America Truck show. Cindy Elliott, owner of Fanio Services, brought us to Fredericks Cafe as this was a place she and her late husband frequented over last 20 years. Breakfast was very delicious. Everything was cooked as ordered and sausage gravy was amazing. Home type restaurant, and staff was very friendly. Food came out quickly for our group of 6. The restaurant was very clean, including the restroom. Restroom was extremely small barely big enough for 1 person, and sink was located outside of restroom, but overall I was very pleased and would recommend this place. read more

Fredericks café, has good food, good portions and good prices. I would have given it 5 stars for the food alone. Now for the bad news, the place need cleaned up, mirrors behind the register are filthy, the carpet is disgusting, who has carpet in a restaurant. The old glass block partition is ok but in desperate need of wooden top plate. The bathrooms are so dark an scary, the shared sink on the out side is dirty. This is a great small town diner with amazing breakfast. I always get a cup of coffee with eggs, bacon, and biscuit. The servers are always very nice and pleasant. It's a must to stop here. Homemade food at a good price. Excellent portion sizes. I had the hamburger patty and eggs. The burger was average in size, the eggs were cooked perfectly to order, and a delicious homemade biscuit. I also managed to snag some bites of my husband's biscuits and gravy. So good! Our server stated that you had to get there early for the biscuits and gravy because once it's gone, it's gone. Buyer beware. This place has displayed a level of arrogance and rued offensive behavior on more than one occasion that included management. Ill spare the details for time. I tipped $10 on $30 bill the first time because I thought the waitress was having a bad day. I will not return unless there is a turnover in staff. This is a serious pattern I observed over several trips and most recently with my children, who were shocked. I am sure they can produce positive reviews as I see, but our few experiences reflect that of one star, which honestly, I think I only had to go out of my way to write a few times in my life. I hope you get lucky and leave with at minimum of a descent customer service experience, otherwise I truly recommend avoiding if possible. The food is a greasy spoon average. Nothing that seems like good down home flavors. More Sysco cost saving products that are profitable with little attentionto rich basic or smart flavors. Ill monitor reviews and the staff turnover or lack of and provide updates if my experience improves. I am a local in love with the wonderful high standards of other nearby establishments providing outstanding customer service and delicious thoughtful food. I want the best for our community and this dissapoints to an embarrassing degree. Get it together Fredrick's. If less than one were available I would have chosen that! Well I figured out today why I have never stepped foot in Fredericks cafe before today.. our friends from Indy are in town with their kiddos and we decided to meet up for lunch and then tour Corydon. They wanted to eat somewhere local and since we were already on the square we chose Frederick's since we hadn't eaten there either. First, they sat us down and made our older kids sit across from us because their couldn't be more than 7 at a table, then they made an adult go over there. If that wasn't enough, they didn't want the kids to have menus. So, when one got up to walk over to our table to read a menu the manager or owner said very rude and loud that we needed to keep our kids in their seats now because her waitresses don't need to be tripping over kids. Mind you there were 7 kiddos but they were all in their seat except for one that had come to her mom to read the menu. When our friend explained that the lady became extremely rude and we decided to leave. Bottom line..don't waste your money at such a rude establishment ! read more
