First, I am surprised there are some good reviews on here for this company because our experience has been very bad. We bought a new build home for 2.3 million. This company did the landscaping. It took me 2-3 weeks to get these guys to send me the original plans so we could make edits. It was like pulling teeth to get them to respond or listen to problems and they have been very unreliable. I did tell them we were interested in more work and they gave me quotes but were supposed to get back to me with more information and never did. They gave me the excuse multiple times that they were on vacation, but after hearing this multiple times from multiple different people, it gets old. Not a good way to run a business. workmanship issues on existing systems: Our lawn has been dead since original placement and you can see sod lines from where it was first laid which means it has been failing since the start. I have been attempting to revive it and found out when I aerated it that there is rock directly below the sod, so not enough soil was placed. The company did supposedly attempt to put fertilizer on it when this was brought up during home inspections/sale, to no avail, with no follow up. We noticed house across the street, same landscaper, has large brown spots also. We have had multiple (4-5) leaks with the drip systems (I understand this is common but it shouldn't be in a brand new system). We even had some dead plants because they apparently ran the line to it and then forgot to insert a dripper into the line at the plants. There was a leak in the sprinkler backflow which we had to fix ourselves because the company wouldn't get back to me. During the repair we saw they used incorrect materials, pipe dope on PVC pipe for example. It also appeared they did not use primer when they bonded the PVC which is probably what lead to the leak in the first place (or just a sloppy application) as it was leaking from an above ground elbow under PVC tape. Worse yet we also discovered no drain for the sprinklers was ever installed, so come winter this system would have frozen and broken pipes, but now I have to dig it up and do the job correctly. read more

Some (but not all) of the Issues with Wild Desert Landscaping doing our Landscaping Install: 1. Landscaping Plan, and the Somersett Guidelines requires trees to have a minimum of a 2" caliper. Most of the trees installed by WDL were significantly thinner than 2". WDL refused to replace them. I had Seth, the Somersett Engineer, do a final inspection and he was easily able to determine the trees were not 2" thick. He wrote a letter that the AGC sent to me. Once I forwarded the letter to WDL, they reluctantly agreed to replace the trees. 2. Landscaping Plan called for 6-8 boulders to be 3' - 4' in diameter. They brought in 8 boulders that averaged 24" in diameter with one of them 30" in diameter. After bringing this to their attention, they agreed to bring some more in, but only one was at least 3' in diameter and the rest were less than 3' in diameter. 3. Landscaping Plan called for a yard hydrant to be installed. They forgot to install it when the work was done, so they did it after the fact. It was installed on the wrong side of the property and the hydrant was not installed correctly. It was leaning when it was installed and started leaning more during the winter with the freezing/thawing of the dirt. It finally fell over in the spring when the ground thawed out. When it fell over, it caused a severe water leak in the pipe that fed it. I had to cap the pipe until I can reinstall the hydrant correctly. I could tell when digging up the hydrant it was not anchored correctly by referring to the manufacturer's installation guide. 4. The rough excavation of the dirt for the patio had the dirt slope towards the house instead of away from the house. I could tell due to a hard rain occurred a couple of days after this excavation. Water pooled next to our existing patio instead of draining away from the patio. When I sent pictures to WDL showing the water pooling in the wrong place, Tony said they will correct it by have the base material slope away from the house. Then, he said I was over-analyzing it. After talking to other landscapers, and some engineers, they all said the dirt is always to slope away from the house and not towards the house. 5. I had eight arborvitae installed that were to be a certain size, but none to be the smaller ones. They installed six of the correct height and two of the smaller ones. Since they were all lined up in a row, the last two looked really bad. I had to ask WDL if anything looked wrong with the last two trees. 6. Towards the tail-end of the project, WDL was demanding final payment. I kept saying the contract states final payment is due after the project is completed and a walkthrough is performed. There were many things that needed to be redone or corrected before I considered the project to be completed. WDL did not see it that way. They threatened to void all warranty work and also threatened to put a lien on our property. Luckily, I have email documentation from WDL about these threats. 7. Landscaping plan called for specific trees and shrubs to be installed. Many of the plants and trees installed were not on the list. Luckily, they replaced the trees with the ones we picked out at Moana Nursery. They left many of the plants that were not on the list. 8. All paver companies' website documentation states the ground is to be excavated with the dirt to slope away from the house. Base is to be installed and compacted as to manufacturer's guidelines. Sand is to be installed and compacted right before pavers are to be installed. After the base was installed and compacted, they put down the sand and compacted that. They didn't install the pavers for at least two weeks after all of this compaction. In addition, they dug up the sand, base and dirt to install a new drain that they missed, so the base and sand was mixed together when they recompacted that area. They also dug up the sand and base, along with dirt, to install part of our trampoline frame (after all of the initial compaction), so that dirt, base and sand were also mixed together when that was recompacted. So, a year later, some of the pavers are not even and some have sunken from not having the base installed correctly. 9. Landscaping Plan called for an optional wall behind the bocce ball court in case the dirt would slope to steeply behind the court. This was at WDL's discretion to install. They opted to not install it. When Seth came out to inspect the trees, we were written up for having the dirt grade be too steep. The dirt dropped off at least 6' behind the bocce ball court which was a severe hazard if someone fell off the court. I had to install a new wall behind the court to comply with the Somersett AGC requirements - which I gladly did - since it would make the bocce ball court safer. However, it was a lot more work since everything was already done. These are many of the issues. I have extensive videos and photos of everything. read more

I hired Wild Desert Landscaping to install my paver patio in November 2016. I thought it was great they had a two-year warranty on their work. I started noticing this last fall that some of the pavers were raising up all over my patio and were a tripping hazard. I have been calling and emailing for two months and cannot get them out to re-level my paver patio. I do not recommend you use them because they don't stand by their warranty. Wild Desert Landscaping came highly recommended by many of our neighbors in the area we live. We are extremely happy with our landscaping and the job that Wild Desert did! The owner, Tony, worked with our ideas as well as had some better suggestions knowing what useful materials to work with. My husband wanted concrete curbing to separate the different rock and DG areas, but I didn't particularly think it would look good. I spoke with Tony and he suggested a different approach and was perfect in that we both love the look. They were very flexible in accommodating our changes along the way. They built a fantastic fire pit and seating area, added a water feature, patio and more pavers than were originally done at the house we bought. They also added more drip tubing and plants to original landscaping. I believe it was a harder job than starting from scratch, but came out just beautiful.
