Tons of healthy-ish smooth options too! After a long day of riding, my boyfriend and I were looking for quality eats. We both ordered the Watauga burger and it did not disappoint. I wish I could've tried everything on the menu! If you're riding through Boone, this restaurant is a must try. They even had moto parking at the front! Since it's not fair to give a restaurant a negative review because I was annoyed with the women at the table next to mine (think lock-jawed Gloria Upson in Auntie Mame), Hob Nob gets four solid stars! I had a hard time picking something out because everything sounded so good (and because I'm generally indecisive when it comes to huge menus). So, my husband and I decided to split an appetizer, soup, and a sandwich for dinner, and everything was really, really good. We got the plantains, which was like having dessert first; the tomato smoked Gouda chipotle soup, which was the star of the show; and the avocado tempeh melt, which was a good contender. The runner also brought out two different hot sauces, but the blackberry one was so thick, it got stuck in the dispenser and then spontaneously exploded in the middle of dinner. Fortunately, it landed on my food and my skin, and not my clothing. Our waitress was a bit slow (some folks near us left because of it) but the vibe of the place made that kind of expected. On a recent trip to Boone a group of us ended up here for lunch. It wasn't actually our first pick, but I was glad our first choice had too long of a wait. Having gone to school at ASU I've seen a number of places take up residence in this location so I was intrigued to see what the latest occupant had to offer. A little bit of everything is the answer. Some southwestern fare, some thai, a little caribbean, italian, etc. While the genres are all over the map, the common piece seemed to be the use of local and organic ingredients. Our group got a sampling of various things including the fish tacos, jamaican jerk plate, and kaeng daeng noodle bowl. Everyone enjoyed what they got. I went with the Burrito Montezuma. Very tasty and very filling. Everyone else got dessert (I was too full to go there) of which the flourless chocolate tort was a favorite. My one complaint was that it was rather slow. It took probably 45mins. to get our food from the time we ordered and getting drink refills was a little hit or miss. Thankfully it was a nice day out and we weren't in any hurry. Hopefully this was just an extra busy day and not the norm. The staff were very friendly and the food really good, so I would definitely go back. One last note: bring cash. Me likey. Was it the crisp mountain air and cool local vibe that caused me to dig this place? Absolutely. Was it the farm fresh ingredients, organic, vegan and vegetarian options? No doubt. Hubby got a burger that was awesome, grass-fed beef, juicy, cooked to order, bacon and cheese on top, totally scrumptious and I got a curry dish with fresh veggies, mango and added chicken. It was spicy but good! The side order options are a little weak but that is my only complaint. We had plenty to choose from for our meal---brunch items, sandwiches, salads, Mexican type dishes, seafood, tons of vegetarian options, etc. We wrapped up our experience with a Peanut Butter and Jelly Smoothie. That pretty much sealed the deal for a 2nd visit....and a 3rd, a 4th, etc... It consisted of strawberries, bananas, peanut butter and coconut milk. I think I drank it all in one clean slurp. My friend and I did a daytrip to Boone and came here for lunch based on a friend's recommendation. We loved it so much that we came back for dinner! I ordered the cusco cakes and the avocado tempeh toast and both were really good. The place features some good locally or regionally grown veggies, and some local meats and eggs and such. They're all spun into some awesome dishes, with very eclectic and cross-cultural origins. I had the Chiang Mai noodle bowl with chicken, and was very pleased. (How could I resist? I spent a week in Chang Mai....) The mixture of many different veggies was quite satisfying. I had a tasty smoothie before I left- though for one with pear in the name, there wasn't too strong a hint of pear. (But again, still very tasty.) The atmosphere is quite casual- with salt & pepper shakers that are different at every table, feeling a bit like they may have been acquired at a thrift store. I didn't get a good look at the dishes at other tables to find out if they would also give the same feel. It really made me feel quite comfortable and at home. My server was the intensely cute Annierae C., who was good-natured and seemed quite happy, even on a busy afternoon. She even took time out for a short discussion of windmills. The Not so Good: It was hot as the blazes in there, the brocolli something or another soup had no taste even after I loaded it down with salt, and the salad sort of looked bagged. Was visiting a friend in Boone who kept raving about Hob Nob since the first day I got there. Sure enough Hob Nob is rad! But seriously, chill atmosphere, great music, food and drinks were spectacular, and our waiter was cool! Had a dark and stormy (drink) the start and it was perfection! Ordered the curry, and they made it as spicy as I wanted it. So flavorful, and nicely portioned! So many vegan choices on the menu it's hard to feel bad about anything you eat at this place. Our new favorite in Boone NC. Wild Craft's menu has so many intriguing dishes we look forward to each visit. We've enjoyed two different curry dishes, the nachos, and the souper special with great cheddar cheese toast. We'd gladly repeat any of these but can't wait to first try more of the tasty items from the menu. Can you judge a restaurant by the customers it attracts? Sometimes, yes. On that count Wild Craft is the ONE place we're happy to visit and recommend. I had lost my wedding band sometime during our evening out but had no idea where. Sent an email to a couple of places we'd visited. Within an hour I heard back from Wild Craft's co-owner, "We have it". Customers seated after us at our table found and turned in my wedding band. I very much enjoyed my visit to the Hob Nob Farm Cafe. First, the restaurant itself is quaint, logical, spacious, and well-decorated. There isn't much parking, and the lot is tight-tight-tight; but then, the cafe is smack-dab in the middle of downtown, so its small parking lot is actually quite generous, relatively speaking. Second, the mariposa enchilada I ordered was absolutely delicious, thoughtfully presented, and quite reasonably priced. Even better, the coffee was high-quality, locally roasted, and organic (and, also, not at all expensive). Third, my meal was served by a friendly, attractive, and attentive server who earned herself a nice tip. Last, the restaurant had a sedate, calm atmosphere, despite being located right along a somewhat busy street. I was quite comfortable having a long, relaxing lunch. Had a great dinner tonight on the patio with our dog. They have an interesting selection of wine, and we chose something different, a Tempranillo, which was very smooth and drinkable. I had their pot pie, a twist on the old favorite, it was amazing, the most comforting of comfort foods! My husband had a rice noodle dish topped with mahi-mahi, and loved it. We stopped by for a early dinner after a day of sight seeing and hiking at Grandfather Mountain. I saw the great reviews on Yelp and the location seemed fun. I was worried upon being seated because when I mentioned to the waitress that we were starving she suggested appetizers because "the food can take a bit". We did order an appetizer, chips and queso, which arrived promptly and was pretty good. The menu itself is fun and eclectic with choices for every palate and lifestyle (veggie, vegan, carnivore). Great kids menu. The food did take a little longer than I had hoped, but the wait was not horrible and the waitress kept us updated and our water glasses were always full. They were not terribly busy when we were there. I can imagine a long wait for food if they are busy. The food was really, really good. I had a crab cake, bacon and Brie panini that was among the most memorable things I've eaten - ever. Just delicious. Tomato soup was okay, but needed seasoning. The other food at the table was good also. I did have major plate envy watching the waitress carry plates by. Would love to try more menu items. With all of that said, and as great as the food was, I doubt I would go back if they were slammed and running a wait. I bet the kitchen really jams up on getting the food out and with two kids that just sounds miserable. I'll gladly go back if it's not busy. How I wish Hob Nob weren't 100 miles away. We've eaten there dozens of times and despite unpredictable service (whether unreasonable wait times for food or servers who are a little off their game), we'll keep coming back. Hmmm... where to start? Let's just say that we were very excited about this restaurant when we got here ( good rating on yelp (most be from older posts), quirky feel, farm fresh organic food, and a menu that goes on and on with a list of foods that SOUND delicious). I agree with the other reviewers that the wait after placing the order is much too long. I will also say that, while I was waiting and waiting for our food, I noticed that the presentation of most of meals is very nice (however, the burritos look very lonely on the plate, because they are the only thing on there-- I've never seen a burrito without any garnishing). I ordered the Mariposa enchilada and my husband had the Cuzco cakes - we liked our meals "ok, fine", but we were not nearly as impressed as we hoped to be. Our children ordered two of the burritos off of the menu. Neither one of them liked their burritos at all. Thinking it was just "kids being finicky kids", we both tried their burritos and had to agree with the children- the burritos were not good at all... even with a multitude of ingredients, both burritos were bland. Its a shame that a restaurant with so many of the "right ingredients" (from a marketing/presentation standpoint and from the way the menu READS).... ends up being just, "meh". read more

I had the noodle bowl with one modification, hold the mushrooms, and it came out 10 minutes later. Maybe they forgot the first time around and had to redo it? There was a sign posted that they need kitchen help, so maybe it will get better. All of the servers were kind and knowledgeable. Regardless, the food was tasty, looked beautiful (except for the child's quesadilla), plentiful and advertised as local. The drinks available were fun, including Blue Sky Sodas (yay!) and mango lassies. We were comfortable being here with our children, but be warned, it can be noisy inside and there is a good chance you will be seated next to a bunch of pretentious people who like to hear themselves talk.
