Lettuce eat some awesome, make-your-own Salad! I'm so happy this concept is starting to pick up more traction in Memphis. Lettuce Eat is like Subway for Salad, except you check off your ingredients while you wait in line and then they make it for you. I've been to this place twice and I might just go for lunch today. Here are a few tips based on my experience: - This place gets busy during lunch. Go Early! - If you're planning on going late in the day before they close, they might be out of ingredients (this happened when I strolled in 20 min before closing) The one gripe I have about this place is that it's a little slow. If they just picked up the efficiency a bit, then this place would be great! I've had a number of instances where I drove up, the line was long, and I drove away. Hey, it's lunch and I work, so I don't have time to wait in line for 30 min to get a salad. Not happening. The ingredients are super fresh. You can definitely go crazy and load up your salad, but it will cost you! The last few times, I've ended up spending over $10 for my salad, but I was pleased with the end result each time and it was most certainly filling. read more

The salads are pretty good. Never a problem with any of them except I find very few with beets in them. My problem is the plastic waste this restaurant produces. They hand out salads with tops on them in recyclable plastic containers for in store orders but provide no separate waste container for these bowls. Once I asked for no top but got one anyway. It's an irresponsible thing to have going on in this day and age. Use a washable aluminum bowl for in store orders. I'd pay a quarter more for that. Or provide a recycle bin for those big plastic bowls and lids used for all of twenty minutes. The rep who sells them the plastic was in there one day and I spoke with him about it. He said it all about the cost of the salad. And in my opinion the cost of their future. He was young enough and I'm old. Why do old people care more about this than young people? read more

This is my favorite lunch spot during the work week. My personal favorite is the Steakhouse (hold the fried onions, add bacon + avocado) and that Ginger Soy Vinaigrette is amazing! But they have so many options, everything is great. It gets busy quick during lunch rush, so I suggest going early (11-11:30) or around 1pm. Online ordering can be hit or miss, the system goes down a lot or Uber Eats gets turned off, but that doesn't deter me too much. read more

I visited this place for lunch one and I was quite pleased. I ordered the Cobb salad and added baked chicken and crumbled egg. I also got ranch dressing instead of the suggested blue cheese. The salad was delicious and very filling. I love the containers they come in because it makes it easy to take your leftovers with you instead of having to get back in line and ask for a lid. I read previous reviews that talked about poor customer service. I didn't experience that. The crew making the salads didn't say much to me but I didn't take it as disrespect. Healthy option that leaves you ACTUALLY full? Yes, please. I ordered the West Coast salad and added egg to it. The salad comes in a giant cube-like box which could easily have been two meals for me if I wasn't so hungry that day. All the ingredients I got were very fresh and crisp, so that was a huge plus. The salad also comes with two slices of tortilla-like bread. You can also choose how much dressing you want to add to the salad. If you're unsure what kind of dressing you want, ask for a sample! The workers are super friendly and will make sure you know what you're doing if it's your first time there. I also really liked that they have no soda machines in their store (way to really promote healthy eating here!). Oh, and they have punch cards! I find the prices to be good. You can get a build your own for $7. The concept is a little different. You make your selections on a slip of paper and turn it in- you do not go down the line telling them what you want nor do you go down a line building your own and then have it weighed at the end. You check off the ingredients you want and the salad is prepared for you. The ingredients are fresh and the employees are friendly. Sometimes the wait is oddly long. Friendly staff and very clean prep area that's completely visible. Enjoyed watching them make the salads. Utensils and prep areas (removable) are exchanged for every salad. Unfortunately the ingredients are stored in open containers and the employees don't change gloves with every salad made, so if your like me and have food allergies, this is a big concern. I can tell the owner is committed to making it a good experience - the attention to quality shows. We have had the wraps with Chipotle and Asian dressings and they are delicious - we crave them! It was... fine. I got a cobb salad and that is pretty hard to screw up. For the price you might as well go to one of the other many places with the same types of salad within walking distance. Pimentos for example has the same salads for the same price, and while it takes a bit longer there you get an actual meal sized salad and not the half filled smaller box here. I got there and was the only person in line, but they were much more concerned with the online orders. Didn't so much as acknowledge me for 5-10 minutes. I finally got someone to take my order. She said she thought I already ordered even though I was literally standing in front of her the entire time trying to make eye contact. Didn't think I'd have to tell her to pay attention. As I got to the end of the line the 6 employees there each took turns asking me what kind of wrap I got, which shows they had paid no attention when I asked for a cobb salad only. Then the cashier basically ignored me and kept talking to her co-worker while I tried to tell her I wanted a drink. She turned her head away and held out her hand for money instead of asking if I wanted anything else. The owner/manager of the store probably doesn't want the employees just assuming the customer has paid all they want to pay. Nothing drives me crazier than employees at a restaurant failing to acknowledge a customer like that. It's rude and I didn't appreciate being ignored despite being literally the only person not sitting down at a table in the entire place. I stood there wondering if I really had to be aggressive in order to get their attention. 6 employees all saw me, the only person standing in front of them, but did not so much as say we'll be with you in a minute. Clearly they had some important things to talk about with each other first. Probably explains why I was the only one in line. The salad itself was literally thrown together with no attention paid to how much of anything was going in there. There is a clear preference for speed over quality. People are getting more or less food for the same price. How many times have they put in way too little and charged the same anyway? My salad was chopped to oblivion so that the dressing and other ingredients made the whole thing mush. They gave me the dregs of the apples. The employee putting the salad together stuck her hand in and filled her hand mostly with juice and threw it directly into the lettuce. I only got maybe three to five little slices versus a now soggy salad. It tasted okay but that was the main redeeming quality here and the only reason I am giving 2 stars instead of 1. The speed I guess is nice but I'm willing to wait 5 minutes for better quality. I ended up waiting longer than that anyway just to get my order in, so it sort of nullified the speed. I really enjoyed this spot! Memphis doesn't have enough healthy options! I ordered one of the menu salads but the beauty of this place is that you could make your own. What keeps it from being different from a regular salad bar are the dressings and the way they chop everything up at the end and toss it with dressing. I loved that they also had healthy ingredients like Kale and Spinach and Avocado. Not all "salad places" actually have anything other than romaine and iceberg lettuce. I would definitely recommend this place and stop in again. It would also be a good place to stop for dinner on the way home if you don't feel like cooking. Portions are large, I could only finish half of my salad in one sitting. Note: My one recommendation is that they invest in a juicer and also serve fresh juice and veggie shots! The top ones in my opinion are: The Southwest, Kale Yeah and the Steakhouse. I like adding Cajun chicken to salads that don't have a protein. They have punch cards here. You can also order ahead of time for a big group if you need too. Great for me and my coworkers for working lunches. First I have to say that the salads at Wild Beet are my very favorite. The salads are very large and the variety of dressings are great. All salads are finely chopped so there are never any large bulky pieces of lettuce to deal with. One of my favorite dressings is the Maple Dijon Vinaigrette. My co-workers and I order from Wild Beet weekly. The issues we have run into with Wild Beet is the lack of structure and consistency as a business. I am still at a loss as to how they have stayed open. It's a common occurrence that they either don't participate in Uber Eats or they have to be prompted to. They hardly ever answer the phone. One day we wanted to order but noticed they were not an option on Uber Eats so we called. The person who answered explained that they were not participating in Uber Eats that particular day due to their iPad being dead and not having a charger. Other days when we call they answer and say "oh, yeah. I guess we'll turn it on". How is this good business? I eat here maybe twice a week. They're a bit expensive, but I like all the options. I do have a couple of complaints though. The first one is that the salad orders are not handled in the order that they are received sometimes. I got skipped by 2 customers behind me when the girl grabbing my ingredients was slower than the other guy. They need better organization. I'm also a little dubious about the hygiene when they are busy. I think they are supposed to swap out boards and knives between orders, but I saw the salad next to mine being made on a dirty board. This could be a problem with allergies and cross contamination. And finally, they need to check orders more carefully. I've been shorted an ingredient twice. I've also had a wrap order that was made without the wrap. And a couple of times my request for dressing on the side was completely ignored. The guy said sorry and shrugged his shoulders.
