A cozy coffee shop with a great selection of caffeinated drinks: think iced chai and matcha, frozen "cremes", plenty of fun flavored iced lattes, hot chocolate, and more. A solid collection of pastries and bagels, too. If you try anything, get the Frozen Chai. It's not explicitly on the menu, but it's fiiiire. Such a nostalgic place! Upon the recommendation of a friend, my wife and swung over from Mount Vernon to check out Wiggin Street Coffee. It was alright. The menu and coffee are quite good (probably 4 stars), but the atmosphere needs a touch up. The lighting was cool, and there is plenty of seating, but the booth seats are cracking, and there is a surprising lack of aesthetic warmth with so much light. Maybe everything just felt too yellow and drab. This shop could be super cute, but for now it is just a good place for a drink and a study break. read more

The prices are pretty expensive, even for a place off of a college campus. The prices do not reflect the quality of the drinks, which is so-so at best. I got an Italian soda, which was almost $6. I asked if they had any gluten free options and they didn't have anything (not even a fruit?). I was surprised that there was not an effort made to include anything, especially when the website specifically lists gluten free pastries (which is why we chose to go here). I don't think it's worth it to go back and try again, especially if their website isn't accurate. read more

Wiggin Street Coffee is pretty much it when it comes to hot beverages in Gambier. It doesn't have to worry about competition. That means they can put out average product and they'll be okay. It's not bad or anything. It's just not that impressive and there's nowhere else to go to. It seems like a regular Starbucks kind of inside. It doesn't exactly have an independent coffee shop feel. There's way too much of a corporate look. It's coffee is about the same price. The regular is about $3 and most other coffee items are more. It has stuff to eat too. The selections weren't exactly anything worth getting. It has stuff like to go cups of carrots and hummus. There isn't much good for vegetarians. At least nothing that was an actual meal. The deli would be a better option if you're hungry and it's better and cheaper. I like there's a coffee shop in Gambier but Wiggin Street Coffee should be better. It could use some competition. They most likely won't get any so they can keep doing things the way they are there. read more

I want to love this place given both our kids attend and have graduated from Kenyon. Order a cappuccino at $3.25. Awesome. Ask for oat milk instead of regular milk, $1.70 surcharge. Charging anything more than $.25 for the substitution is robbery. I can live with $.50. Won't buy at $1.00. But $1.70? That kind of service is reserved for the united federation of proctologists. This place was a huge disappointment. The staff was excessively rude - never once greeting us or asking if they can help us. They were too busy taking to each other to even let us know our drinks were ready. They gave us the wrong pastries (asked for pineapple upside down doughnut holes and they gave us cinnamon instead) which once consumed had little to no flavor. My cappuccino was salty and lacked any of the traditional froth and my partner's coffee tasted like what I can only assume battery acid does. Both drinks were bad enough we didn't have more than a third of them before throwing them out. Very sad. We love river road in granville and this location could be great too if it weren't for the overwhelming apathy of the staff. read more

Buzzing, bright and bustling. The vibe at Wiggins matches what happens to me when drinking the sweet nectar of the the coffee bean. Friendly service, a plethora of coffee options as well as some non complicated food options to compliment your beverage. I love popping into Gambier. I was disappointed to find that Middle Ground is now Wiggin Street Coffee. The place has been cleaned up, which is good, but certainly the ambience is different and lacking the homey feel it had before as Middle Ground. It was deserted and lacking student presence. We were told that the focus is coffee, not on food. As much as I love coffee, I was expecting a place that serves decent food with vegetarian options. We were told that the only veg thing on the tiny little unimpressive menu was hummus and pita chips. Wow! How imaginative. I can get a tub of hummus and some pita chips at the grocery down the road. We were annoyed so we left, not trying the coffee. Can't say whether or not it is good, but given that Wiggin Street is apparently owned by the same people who own Riverroad Coffee, my guess is that the coffee is atrocious. No reason to visit Gambier any more. read more

After six years of actively going to this coffee shop when it went by the name "Middle Grounds", I couldn't help but walk through the doors with a bit of skepticism. But all fears were quickly dismissed as the renovated space has the same skeleton and vibe with only moderate changes. A much cleaner setup and light array of wood bars and seating, Wiggin Street provides a great space for a meeting or afternoon read. The space lost a bit of its warmth, but it feels huge and it's less of a greasy college lunch spot like it used to be. Their coffee has significantly upgraded since the relaunch, thanks to a move to One Line Coffee roasters. in regards to food, I didn't try anything out but the Umpqua Oatmeal looked amazing. I found myself eager to pout about the lack of chicken tenders, sweet potato fries, and the wide array of dipping sauces, but memory served correct that VIllage Inn was the same owner, so a quick trip next door and all of my needs were satisfied. read more

Apparently they sell One Line coffees here. So if you like One Line coffee then you will like this place because they're essentially the same thing only they are separated by a number of miles worth of rural Ohio. I'm told by my Kenyon friend that this is pretty much the only game in town for coffee and if that's true then you're not doing too bad. read more

I downloaded yelp simply to review this coffee shop. I've essentially been here 8+ hours a day for the past few weeks studying for the bar exam. Pretty sure a few people in the community think I am homeless and just hang out here, but I truly don't mind. This place is pretty incredible. Let's start with the name. Wiggin Street Coffee. It's a coffee shop on Wiggin Street. Fantastic. No fluff. Perfectly descriptive. Spent the last three years in Lawrence, Kansas where they had coffee shops named alchemy, decade, and the bourgeois pig. Nonsense. Next, the coffee. I've only had their iced coffee (at least 50 of them) and it's fantastic. Would recommend. One line coffee is phenomenal. Additionally, The atmosphere is great. It can get loud which adds some beneficial stressors to improve performance on practice tests. The booths are very spacious and outlets are easily accessible for computer needs. Finally, The entire staff is exceptional. They are professional, friendly, and efficient. It's pretty remarkable because they often have to entertain some pretty strange patrons. Take yesterday, for example. After receiving his coffee, a guy said "thanks a latte," (in such a rehearsed manner that you can tell he's been using that line for years) and the barista faked a laugh for the atrocious dad joke. It was Impressive. However, I wish they were open 24/7 and had a punch card system, but this is due to the obnoxious amount of iced coffee I have been drinking to fuel the demanding study requirements. Completely irrelevant to this review. Regardless, top quality place. Instagram needs updated though. Update: i feel that I have let everyone down, including myself. The price of Iced coffee has increased 30 cents. Maybe it was due to the demand increase from my consumption. Wiggin Street seems to be struggling to find a cohesive identity. I'm not a coffee drinker, but I have heard mixed reviews. Their hot chocolate and other coffee-free drinks are so-so and priced comparably to big bad S'bucks. As Zeph mentioned, they scaled back the menu significantly from what Middle Ground previously served in the same location. The stromboli is surprisingly pretty good, but I'm generally opposed to purchasing something that was made previously and re-heated in a microwave. This is a great little coffee shop! I love the ambiance here. It's very cozy and relaxing yet there's ample seating. The booths allow you to have a little more privacy. The latte I had was very good as well as the bagel. They have some pastries as well but that was about it for breakfast foods. The staff was friendly and the prices are reasonable. I am so annoyed at all the negative reviews about this place. Wiggin St. coffee makes AMAZING espresso, and that's what it is a COFFEE house. Middle ground could not make decent coffee no matter how expensive the cup was (trust me, I would know after years of going there). I am beyond thankful to actually be able to get a decent cappuccino on this campus and if you can't realize how much better the coffee is, and that what they serve IS coffee as opposed to the mud that was served by Middle Ground, then I'm not sure what you're doing even going to a coffee house since you obviously have zero appreciation for the Italian commodity. read more

Wiggin Street is quite generic compared to its predecessor, Middle Ground. The vibe is more corporate, despite being owned by a company with only 3 locations. I don't really feel like this place fits in with the rest of the Kenyon/Gambier area, it just seems out of place. There's also no wifi unless you have a Kenyon wireless account, so that's a drag. It's a nice place to people-watch, although at times the students can get more obnoxious than entertaining. As a local, I've found in my many stops that their coffee is a lot like that old Goldilocks story..seems like depending on who made it, it's either too strong, too weak, or if you're lucky, just right. They offer some limited snack options, but for a quick bite their selection is fine....bagels, carrot sticks and hummus, muffins and cookies..nothing to write home about. Good place for a quick stop and a caffeine hit but nothing spectacular. read more
