This was way more fun than I thought it would be. I'm so glad I didn't miss this. I only did it because it was included in the Vienna pass. But this is something I would pay full price for. Apparently you can even eat a meal in one of the cars. We saw a car fully set up for a meal! What a fun thing to do. It didn't seem that high but there is a great view from the top and you can open the small top window and take pictures out of it. Lines were not Long. You don't have to have your pictures taken on the way in. Just tell them you don't want a picture ( 10 euro) and walk on by to the line for this ride. The cute exhibit cars on the way in were fun to take pictures of. Take the blue hop on hop off bus out here if you are riding these.

a little history thing about the ferris wheel before you ride

Took the subway station to Prater, which is like Vienna's version of Golden Gate Park in SF and…read moreCentral Park in NY, and they have a free amusement park you can walk through with a famous giant ferris wheel. I mainly just walked around and enjoyed the sights and sounds of the amusement park, and took a bunch of photos of my surroundings. There were uniformed school marching bands that marched and performed thorughout the park during the afternoon I visited, ranging from elementary-aged children up to high school. I ate a Hungarian flatbread called langos for the first time! Enjoyed a very nice couple of hours just walking around as a tourist.

Ah, the Prater. This is a decently sized amusement park that is fun for both kids and adults! You…read morewill see everything a typical park has, from a shooting gallery to flying swings and a ferris wheel. Prices are reasonable, and you pay at each ride. It's also a neat place just to walk through, as there is no admission fee. The soda vending machines were cheap compared to other places, with a bottle of coke for just 1 Euro! At night the rides are all lit up making for a really cool ambiance. It's fun to listen to the screams and try to figure out which ride they're coming from! Yeah, yeah, yeah, you're in Vienna for the culture, the history, the romance of it all. You still need a little time to break away and experience the fun side, and the Prater will give you that...just go! 43/2025
