I rarely take on tours of any kind because they are often restricted and present a linear experience but the one I took with Giovanni on the wine and bike tour was absolutely amazing! He gives Pedal Power the biggest reason why I would rebook another tour. We saw vineyards and a cellar that there is absolute no way I could have discovered on my own. As an Embryologist, I research almost everything I do and I would give this tour, if you request Giovanni my highest recommendation. It truly represents everything that is beautiful about Austria from the people, culture, food, and history on one bike ride!

    Biking round Vienna

You could call me a bike tour addict. You'd be exaggerating, but you could. Whenever I'm in a new city I like to go on a quick bike tour to get my bearings and work out the best things to go and see in more detail later on. So I like to think I know a good tour when I see it. Unfortunately this wasn't a particularly good tour. Firstly, we booked through a different company and found ourselves with Pedal Power. Not a problem but it meant every single bike tourist in Vienna was on the same tour. We were split into groups but there were still 15 of us following one guide. Not great in terms of safety, sticking together, or being able to hear or ask questions. Secondly, I don't think we did too well with our guide. She kept shouting information as we were cycling along meaning only the first 3-4 people could hear. She also kept starting her segments as soon as she'd stopped rather than waiting for everyone to be there. I think most people missed half the tour. There was also an odd moment where we stopped at the gates of the park with the golden statue of Strauss, we could see him in the distance, but she hurried us all along rather than stopping to have a look. Finally, there were no helmets offered, so if safety is a big thing for you, I'd probably avoid. Having said that, I did enjoy the tour and it was lovely to spend time in the sun and enjoy Vienna's cycle paths. If I were going again though, I'd consider taking a guidebook, hiring one of the city bikes available on the streets, and taking my time.

My son and husband rented bikes here for a ride around the Danube in Vienna. Friendly folks, well cared-for bikes. A great experience.

I was a bit dubious about this tour company given the reviews, but we did the hop on hop off tour…read morearound the city and had a great time. We initially got on at a stop without tickets but the bus driver just let us on, gave us headphones, and told us to pay whenever someone selling tickets got on the bus (which happened about 6 stops later). Unfortunately the upstairs was very hard to access if you're on crutches (especially if the bus is moving), and the "guided tour" is a location-based audio tour. We were stuck in traffic for a really long time between stops so we got a lot of Strauss piped to us while we waited but no information. Not the company's fault though. The other thing was that the upstairs windows don't open so they fogged up a lot with the Vienna winter air so in order to see anything at night we had to constantly wipe the condensation off. When we arrived at the opera house we also asked the guide there about the night tour, and he offered us a free ride on it which was super cool!

**Salzburg Day Trip**…read more Of the 13 hours of the trip, 10 were on the bus. While technically a day trip from Vienna, I would recommend doing the trip to Salzburg on your own if you're adventurous. Salzburg is pretty compact, with most of the sights in the old partod the town. During this time of year, the town is decked out for the holiday and the Christmas market is fantastic! There were two parts of the tour: the part on the bus and the part with a local guide. Our guide on the bus led the Spanish speaking tourists while we English speaking ones had a local guide (Hans), who was awaiting us at Salzburg. While I understand Hans was probably trying to maximize our free time, I felt the tour was a bit rushed. I also felt like he was okay with losing half the group over the course of the tour. We started out with 19 and ended with 9 in the group. I wasn't sure if the others left and did their own thing or were lost. We started at the Mirabell Palace and ended in old town. At the end, we had about two hours. This was enough time to have a snack and tour the Christmas market. There wasn't enough time to go see the fortress or the Mozart museum. This tour was a good one if you need a way to get out to Salzburg and don't want to deal with the travel logistics. Next time, we will take the train and do our own thing. Not sure if this tour was worth $300 (for two people).
