I bet it's gorgeous in the summer with all the greenery, and colorful flower beds. It's perfect for a nice stroll or enjoying some quiet time away from the city's hustle. Loved the famous Johann Strauss monument and the small ponds with ducks. There are plenty of benches to sit and a nice playground if you have children.

Gorgeous foliage of the Gingko trees glow even in the overcast weather and were a perfect autumn show stopper. Strolling through this lovely park takes you back to simpler times when you actually see an occasional jogger and couples holding hands as they stoll amongst the trees and glorious sculptures. It is fun to stand on the bridge above the train rail way and watch the train come in and stop of the station. This park is huge and you could probably spend all day here.

Honestly I knew nothing about Friedensreich Hundertwasser (born Friedrich Stowasser) until I took a…read moretour of Vienna, which included a stop at the famous Hundertwasser Haus. However, one look at this building and I was hooked. Fascinating I must say. This painter, architecture doctor, ecological activist and philosopher had the goal of connecting human architecture with nature and color. The Hunderwasser Haus is quite colorful with less than straight lines, covered in various plants. There is a spiral stairway leading up to one entrance, and overgrown balcony on an upper level. Just so many interesting details to see here. Be careful though while you are admiring the building, watch out when you are walking. The entire sidewalk looks like it is buckled, but it is designed with those hills and valleys and loads of trees. So, please watch your step. Fun part is that a few shops have adapted to the same concept and have a similar style. Very neat. Definitely visit this apartment building when in Vienna.

A wonderful park in Vienna!…read more The park is massive, and I know there is a wide path that runs through the park, and is just over 4km long. This is the only place where I have been, well, that and the amusement park. I know that there are plenty of wide open green spaces to picnic, sunbathe, or whatever else people do in wide open green spaces. Pretty much there is something for everyone. There is a playground, a skate park, a bowling alley, some restaurants, a lake?, and some sports facilities, and of course benches.(which are conveniently located on the side paths - not the main "road".) No vehicles aside from human powered, Segways, buggies, and the occasional emergency vehicle. There is a road that runs perpendicular, but aside from a bus and occasional car, it is not very busy. Aside from fresh manure from our horse friends, the park is kept very clean. I am thrilled that people respect it enough not to litter! I also know there's a cute train called the Liliputbahn that runs through the park. My only criticisms right now are that I would like there to be a city-bike station closer to the other end (there's two near the amusement park end), and a few maps along the main path.

The Prater Hauptallee is an auto-free linear park in Vienna's 2nd district. It is straight as an…read morearrow and 2.8 miles in length. It is mostly shaded and paved and well used by Vienna locals all year round. The amusement park with the giant Ferris wheel is at one end and the Lusthaus cafe is at the other. It is beautiful and pleasure to go running on.
