So, after going to Mirabellgarten in Salzburg, this garden couldn't compare. But, that doesn't mean that this was a waste. In fact, it was a great morning. We walked from Pension Nossek - which means we saw the Opera House and other beautiful sites - to the garden entrance. The view from the lower palace to the upper palace was breathtaking.
Thankfully, we arrived while all the fountains were running, when we got to the upper palace, the fountains were turned off. The fountains and the statues around the gardens were stunning.
Our favorite part were the hidden spaces to just sit down and rest for a moment. They were shaded, quiet and just what we needed after the walk around the garden.
The only negative I have to say about this experience is that the upper garden was either under construction or they are not going to be planting anything there. There were green shrubs, but the places were the flowers were supposed to be was covered with gravel.
We did not go into the museum. The garden was free and it was enough. read more
