Alan came by to give me a quote for an insulated patio cover. 20ft x 13ft., 4 LED lights, an outdoor ceiling fan, with a corbel cut on the rafter tails. I decided to go with Wickens Construction because they put up a non-insulated patio cover for my neighbor's house 5 years ago and the finished product came out great. Hector and his coworker started on a Thursday and completed the patio by Friday. I must say, Hector does good work. I get a lot of compliments from family and friends on how the patio really added to the look of the backyard. Thanks again, Alan and Hector! I definitely recommend these guys.

Alan and his team are the best. Great honest hardworking people. Will definitely recommend them. Thank you Wickens!

I hired Wickens Construction in July 2018 to remodel the bathroom in my small mobile home. This involved removing the old bathtub, toilet, and vinyl flooring, and replacing with upgraded bath tub, bath surround and handicapped toilet. Wickens had done previous remodel work for me in 2011, and I felt that I could trust them with this job. My mistake! I am a senior citizen, on a limited budget, and am most unhappy with the subsequent result, which was that the toilet leaked, and the underfloor and vinyl were damaged due to their negligence in not installing a proper seal between the toilet and floor. It was a slow leak, and took a few years to manifest the damage, which was discovered on an inspection of my home prior to its sale. In July 2021 contacted Wickens estimator Bruce Palestini to give me a bid of what it would take to repair the damage, at the time not realizing it was their error that caused it. He quoted me $4100 for the job. My realtor suggested I use her handyman, George, for the job. He took out the toilet on October 27, 2021, and found that that the seal described above was missing, and the subfloor had also been damaged by dry rot. In addition, two pieces of bracing underneath had been tied together with a flimsy metal plate, allowing the floor to subside underneath. I reported this to Bruce Wickens, who became very defensive and swore that his people would not have messed up, and I realized he was not going to discuss this with me with any respect. My late husband and I were in the building trade for 10 years, so I know what I am talking about. So George documented everything, as seen in the photos below. It took 3 him three days, as we had to allow the floor to dry, and the reconstruction of the framing under the toilet and bracing to be done, as well as new vinyl flooring installed by a flooring contractor. His fee for the total job was only $1800! On November 2, 2021 I requested that Bruce Wickens pay me this amount, plus a prorated refund of $1500 from the previous job, for a total of $3300. I gave him a full week, until November 9, to do so. As of today, November 12, I have not had a reply or seen a check. I am also reporting him to the Contractor's Licensing Board, and letting my friends and neighbors know not to use the services of Wickens Construction. I feel that his lack of response is clearly Elder Abuse is NOT acceptable!

    Just starting the project.....

Bruce Palestini came and gave me an estimate and then the crew they sent out was absolutely wonderful! Everything was done in a very professional way. The quote included the permit cost and they obtained the permit as well. Very clean, quick and they cleaned up every little remnant of the project. I highly recommend Wickens Construction for your mobile home awning or porch needs.

Ignacio, who came for the site visit and identified himself as the owner, was very easy to communicate with both in person and over the phone. However, Jackie, (not clear to me if she's the co-owner or Ignacio's wife) finalizes pricing and pretty much runs the show. For our project, we had picked IVS to do the work, but the price kept increasing by thousands of dollars. I asked to speak with Ignacio since these changes were inconsistent with what I discussed with him and put them week above our other quotes, but Jackie said that's not necessary since she decides the pricing. They also charge tax on materials, which no other fencers do (since they're already paying tax to Home Depot, etc.). These business practices felt disingenuous to me and like bait and switch. I've had issues in the past with businesses like this that once the work begins they'll change order you again and ask for more money. So we did not use them. For this fence, we received multiple quotes. Two companies were in the $9-10K range and IVS was around $12K. All were licensed and bonded. We went with the lowest quote and are extremely happy with our fence.

The initial consult was professionally conducted, and we were happy to sign right then and there to get things moving. Everything, start to finish, went like clockwork. Communication was good, cleanliness was maintained from demo to last touches, and the employees were top of the line in their professionalism. We had Aleksei Alaev do the construction and installation work and he was just the best. Handled everything really well, and his work is top shelf. Clean lines everywhere, nothing rushed or half-done. Highly recommend anyone thinking of a bathroom remodel - call Rose! Edited to add photograph and also add that we did the painting ourselves, after Rose's team were done. So any imperfections in the paint are on us! LOL PS: We call this room the Bath Cave because it was built into one part of a framed in porch on our very old (1890) house. The window is just for light and will be covered with a privacy film too.

Would not recommend Rose Remodeling - we met with this company at the Home show and set up an appointment- the sales rep (Eric) came out on the 4th in the evening, took measurements, we went over what we wanted and he said he would get us an estimate - haven't heard a peep - don't waste your time as they will waste yours and not communicate - he also kept saying "this is going to be expensive" without even knowing our budget. My husband was concerned that the sales guy didnt act like he knew what he was doing when talking through what we wanted, measuring - then we sat our our table for 15 minutes while he scrolled home depot site showing us shower heads -- I told him he could just send us something as I was losing patience -- so he said he would send us an estimate and left - that was 10 days ago - not an email saying working on it, not a can't do it -- nothing. I appreciate small businesses and want to support them but not to my time and expense. I also understand (from my past experince being a home show participant) that there may be an influx of sales calls, etc..however that is not an excuse for zero communcations after an inperson sales meeting. Poor leadership, sales and attention to detail which unfortunately for the team doing the work could cause more problems. Recommend to owners to be honest - if your sales team doesn't want to do the work or can't - just say so - don't say you're going to do something and never deliver!!! Also, why waste your money at the home show if this is how your sales team operates? If they don't communicate before the project, imagine the lack of communication during the project!!! RED FLAGS! I'm leaving two stars as the sales rep did provide a good picture of work Rose has done in the past that now I can use to show other companies what I want.
