The best catfish I'd ever had was at Paula Dean's in Tennessee -- that is until I had this catfish. OMGGGG! Unreal. I love these hole-in-the-wall places like this that just make the best food. You'd never assume this would be the best meal I had all trip by looking at the pictures, but it certainly was. Fairly priced. Friendly staff. Super clean. 10/10 experience! My only complaint if I HAD to say something: I wish they had a house-made tartar sauce. The little packet they give you was lackluster. But otherwise incredible meal!!!!

But the counter service is quick and you won't have to wait long. The full-size po-boys are massive. If you get a Ferty (roast beef, ham, Swiss cheese), bring a construction crew to help you eat it, or be prepared to be eating leftovers for two or three days. I love a good shrimp po-boy, but it's usually too big for me. I have landed on the Shrimp on a bun as a fantastic alternative. It's so overstuffed with shrimp you can't eat it without them falling out. And it is perfectly dressed with just the right amount of lettuce, tomato, pickles, and mayonnaise. And the fries! Y'all, the fries are so crispy and delicious, and they also come in a massive amount. Too many for one sitting. This is a place I regularly stop at for lunch when I am in this area.

I ordered the Down and Dirty sandwich with added jalapeño relish and a side of potato salad.Honestly, this sandwich was a 10/10. The meats were top quality, every ingredient tasted incredibly fresh, and the sweet jalapeño relish was the perfect finishing touch that took it over the top.As a self-proclaimed potato salad snob, I can confidently say their potato salad is phenomenal. It's sour cream-based and reminds me a lot of the old Voodoo BBQ potato salad... if you know, you know.Between the outstanding sandwich and the excellent sides, Down South definitely lived up to the hype. I'll absolutely be back.

And they put a lot on the sandwich. But it overpowers everything else - the bologna flavor is lost. Also, get the bologna grilled to help bring out the flavor. It's a good sandwich. And it's huge. The potato salad is also very good. I will be back soon to try the pastrami, without the slaw. Maybe I can get a side order of slaw (and hopefully it'll be bigger than a condiment cup that most places consider a side order of slaw. Hopefully.) Also - put some of that Dirty Squirt sauce on your sandwich (or potato salad). It's a good mustard based sauce - kind of like a Carolina Golf but not too sweet.
