Typically take my children to SD for all care when possible…read more Recently had a new baby, called the office to set up a 24 hour appointment or 48 hour appointment (not sure what is needed). I think my son is tongue tie and it has been affecting his nursing. I have an older son who had the same issue at birth. I am a stay at home mother of 5. Long story short my husband and myself have been going to San Diego for all prenatal care and hired a birth team of four midwives to come to our home, for a home birth. This was a personal informed medical choice we both decided upon. Paid out of pocket and also purchased private insurance specially for my prenatal care and our soon to be newborn. Anyhow baby is born happy and healthy but tongue tied. We decided to seek a pediatrician in town rather than drive to San Diego.... call this office on advice from a family friend. Immediately as I explained how I'd like to have my son examined and check to see if he is tongue tied and if he needs a snip like my older son...the receptionist asks how old baby is...I explain he's 1 day old. And that I have all paper work ultra sounds and birth record info on what he was given ect..then her tone switches and she asks when I was discharged from the hospital. I explaine how we had a home birth with a birth team of four midwives from San diego...the lady again gets almost snarky! "Oh i.dont think we see home birth patients, I'll need to give a message to the doctor and call you back. You can shop around with other pediatricians. I don't think we will see you. We do one week visit then two week visit and manditory vaccinations" aside from her snarky tone and note seeing home birth patients sounded like a great office...getting all the care and vaccinations here vs driving to sd.... This lady was extreemly judgmental sounding. As if she couldnt be bothered. She takes my number and calls me back shortly to inform me that just as she suspected this doctor does not see home birthed children. My jaw really did hit the floor. My husband and myself are two educated people, my family is extreemly active in the Brawley community...we earn our living pay extra out of pocket for a higher quality insurance on top of paying in full out of pocket for all medical care..including prenatal...heck we even drive 2.5 hours away because brawley and el centro are low in come cities making the quality of care lower than sd!!! To be told a practice didn't accept a home birthed child floored me. In fact disgusted me. I am all about the freedom of making informed medical choices...what kind of world is it when you can abort a baby but God forbid you birth that child at home. Also I'm sure this pediatrician accepts illegals who are on state funded medical insurance because that is how most lower income cities close to the boarder function. Really peeves me! Disappointed and disgusted that any practice would have such regulations. Looks like Suarez and Amani win again. Also not to debate home birth but USA has one of the highest csection rates and it's climbing..most other similar countries(such as uk, Australia ect) advise home birth for low risk mothers as well as the acog states this should be an option for families making informed medical decisions...and the largest four year homebirth Study was just published stating homebirth for low risk mothers is as safe as a hospital birth..there was no higher death or serious injury with home birth as there was in a hospital setting... Aside from my stance on home birth I really am shocked... does this pediatrician see illegals or are those other clients he won't see...what about same sex or no he doesn't take those either? How about white patients or does this pediatrician only take specific races! Where does this pediatrician draw the line on clients. I truly am disgusted. One star because the Receptionist called me back to inform me they wouldn't see my kind in their office. This was written with my cell so please excuse the grammar mistakes. -Christina

It hurts me to have to give Dr. Buenaflor's office only 3 stars, but for me, the pros outweigh the…read morecons. PROS: - Caring, super nice doctor - Wonderful back office staff, mostly nice front office staff. - Comfortable waiting room. - Dr. does not over prescribe antibiotics, and will listen to your concerns and treat you with respect. CONS: - It's hard to get an appointment when the kids are sick. It's usually at least 4 days out. - Answering service is on almost every time I call in the morning (during open office hours), and they know NOTHING. The only thing they will tell you is that you can ask for a call back that will take forever or take your kid to the ER. - Long wait times. I have never had an appointment that took less than 1-2.5 hours - No separate waiting rooms for sick/well kids. During those wait times guess what your "well" kid is being exposed to. - The seating in the office is covered in a velvety cloth, and it grosses me out because it is obviously not wipe down-able. If you live in Brawley, you might be able to overlook some of these things. Personally, I am switching to a group with more doctors and separate waiting rooms so my kids can be seen in a reasonable amount of time without being contaminated by sick kids when they are well. I'll miss Dr. Buenaflor and his staff, but there is another well-liked choice closer to me.

However, I took a leap of faith and found Dr Ramona via my insurance portal. I called the office and they said they would prioritize me due to my pregnancy. Never have I ever thought I'd have a health issue that requires me to see a endocrinologist in my 20s. But things happen, and I was lucky enough to have been diagnosed early in my pregnancy. Dr Ramona's visits are all via telephone( thank goodness) and her assistants were able to work with my busy schedule, which I greatly appreciate. I have dealt with many different staff members and dr Ramona herself. Everyone treated me with professionalism and respect. They assured me everything was going to be okay and sure enough, one month of taking the medication Dr Ramona proscribed, my levels went down and I felt so much better, despite the articles I've read online. Everyone is so organized and helpful. I would recommend this place to anyone that needs to see a endocrinologist.

I was told by my rheumatologist that a fax was sent over and I need to call the endocrinologist and make an appointment. I call and Delia answers and says, "why are you being referred? We didn't get a fax." I call the rheum back and they re fax so I call her back and she doesn't let me speak, just says "I will have to call you if a fax comes in." The whole day went by and I didn't receive a call. Today I call an hour before they close and she asked my name. She then started yelling at me that she received my fax but I need to give her time and she will call me sometime next week. If a Dr is okay with having this jerk work with her patients then she isn't worth going to. This one tops the list of all time worst service and rude people ever.

I value the…read morerelationship I've grown to have with Dr DUONG himself, and appreciate his care, however, his staff in the front office are rude, combative, unhelpful, laugh at the patient and lack a lot of knowledge with the insurance world and how to be sympathetic with their patients. I was told I was being charged for procedures I did not get serviced. When I confronted the front office staff both Hispanic girls talked over me, where not able to explain to me why they wanted to charge me extra fees, hanged up on me when I asked to speak with Dr. DUONG directly over the phone. When I walked in in person refused to tell Dr. DUONG I was there to speak with him and laughed at me and mocked me when I told her I would be filling a grievance. I came in with accurate cpt codes for services rendered to me and reminded them of Dr. Duongs contract with my insurance company. Female at front office stated she will be adding a billing to code to my claim everything I did not get the services she was referring to. I told her if they did that that she would be committing fraud and asked politely again if o could speak with Dr. DUONG about the issue. Front office female laughed again at me and told me no, that doctor DUONG was very busy. I told her kindly I understood he was busy and requested for him to call me back the following week. She laughed at me again sarcastically and started her will be busy then too. I think she knew she would get in trouble if DR. DUONG heard about how they treated me and how she wanted to Bill me for services I not receive. As much as I like Dr. DUONG and appreciate his dedication to me as his patient I find myself having to leave his practice because of the horrible and rude treatment received by two of his front office female staff. It is not worth it to for me to experience horrible mocking behavior from his staff every time I go into the office and every time I call the office. It is sad but these two female front office workers giving horrible customer service sets the tone and makes me never to want to go back to the office and not recommend the office. Dr. DUONG if this message ever gets to you, look closely at your front office staff in calexico attitude and maybe re-educate them to be kind and give God customer service to your patients because your service is good Dr. DUONG but some of your staff makes it undesirable to continue visiting you as a PCP.

Took over around 30+min for someone to come COVID test us. That entire time I waited I over heard in the halls the employees talking about lunch, cases and holiday plans how many more patients they had. Can't believe it took them that long. Ended up getting my positive test back and my daughter was negative. My husband went back and did the same process as me. They didn't test him because labs closed at 7:30 but still told him to come in mowing labs closed at that time. The way they treated him and the conversation he over heard with the dr and the staff were very unprofessional. Another reason to rate the valley low.
