Whole Earth is one of the most underrated stores for outdoors that I've ever visited. The beauty of their selection is the breadth of products over a huge price range. You'll find everything from high dollar top tier items down to budget choices that are great starters or for families that just need something easy. They always have a great balance of backpacking, hiking, and general outdoor gear that is top quality at any price. I'm the far back you'll find dozens of day pack or mountaineering backpack options next to dozens of sleeping bags. The amount of accessories they keep in stock is amazing because you'll rarely see these products in stores. Being able to interact with so many products is a huge benefit, especially with such knowledgeable staff. The shoe and clothing selection is as good as any for travel clothing options, and kids will love their dedicated section. My only complaint is that there are no membership rewards beyond an email service! It's truly a fantastic store.

I'm kind of shocked by some of these reviews because we had the opposite experience. They had a line outside with SHADED coverage. I actually appreciate the fact that they are limiting the number of people who are inside at a time to protect themselves and the customers. They do check your temperature when you come in, I don't feel like this is a hinderance, and standing outside with a mask on didn't rise my temperature or anyone else's so everyone was able to come in. They also ask that you use hand sanitizer before entering. This is probably one of the coolest stores you can go to. They have a lot of gag gift type items but also lots of outdoor/ hiking gear. Every staff member we came across was friendly and excited to help. The store even has a bunch of cool local Texas cookbooks including a large vegan cookbook section. If you have kids, they also have some unique kids toys/ educational activities for them. I highly suggest if you're in the area to stop by. At least you know you'll have a safe, stress free shopping experience.

If they sold any of the highways in or around NYC, it'd be Hole Earth. Pretty interesting store that reminds me a lot of Urban Outfitters but is actually cheaper. It's also considerably more local, because I think they're from Austin and there's not too many locations. If you like outdoorsy type wear and cool trendy stuff for all kinds of age groups, you'll definitely like the store. Bae and I liked it and the employees are really nice, but it definitely doesn't have the kinds of sexy things that she and I wear. It's more for hiking the mountains or exploring the forest.

Looking for a replacement Birkenstock.. perusing through the shoe department to noticed that the workers asked 5 people if they needed help, not one asked if I needed help. What is that about? Sure makes one feel not so good. I'm an avid fan of the store and will be back, today I'm buying my birks across the street at the Birkenstock general store. Please be nicer and friendlier next time. Thank you.

Chris, so friendly and helpful.

Yes, this store has the most unique everything, and it is my favorite store. But I mostly go here instead of ordering things online for the customer service. It was my friend's birthday and I was completely lost, ready to give up, he's so hard to shop for. Ellis, Chris, and Sam came out of the woodwork, learned everything about my friend, and scoured the store until we found the perfect gift I'm so excited to give him, all while staying in my price range. The way these guys went above and beyond saved the day and it's why I will always go back here.

I made a joke while I was in there, but I didn't think my wife would have agreed with me so quickly. It's like REI, but more affordable. They have Exoficcio, Kuhl, OR, Mountain Hardware, and their sizes go all the way to real big guy sizes. Additionally, besides clothes, they have shoes, camping gear, kids stuff, presents, glasses, I could have spent another hour or two in there. Here's a bright idea, put in a bar, then you can have a drink while you shop, I would have spent more money that way. Fill one of those Yeti's with beer, put them on an honor system, that way it works for everyone. Damn you Whole Earth, we will be back to shop and spend more money soon...

I come in here when I have some time to kill, but the problem is that there are so many goodies to peruse. There is everything from Life is Good infant onesies and squirrel underpants to The North Face jackets and Celestron telescopes. I'm a sucker for those squirrel underpants (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/tdnfVFk8Aj6Uy_nYYCuKow?select=V08LD7QKzLZrHGpU0J-pYw) - Rrrrrrr. The price points are manufacturer suggested retail, so sometimes I end up checking online for more reasonable prices depending the cost of the item in relation to my threshold. However, the store does have specially priced items every once in awhile, which we took full advantage of today. My husband and I are Timbuk2 whores. He just so happened to be in the market for a new bag when, lo and behold, Whole Earth Provisions happens to be having their weekly special on all of their Timbuk2 products. WooHoo! We were going to get the Classic Messenger, but (dag gummit) the D-Lux was lookin real nice, so we splurged a little more for the shiny D. Eh - he deserves it.

The store currently has a sale on Walter Hagen golf shorts, "buy one and get a second pair 50%…read moreoff". The shorts cost $70 so if you buy one at $70, the second pair would be 50% of $70 for $35 for a total of $105 for two. I tried to purchase these shorts and the discount showed $17.50 at the register. That amount is 25% off not 50%. I pointed it out to the cashier but she defended the amount of $17.50 as being correct but could not explain why. As a long time corporate banker, I have a clear understanding of basic math. Either the register is not calibrated correctly or the store is falsely advertising the sale and they are basically ripping people off. Not only did I not purchase the shorts (I was going to buy four) I will not ever step foot into a Dick's Sporting Goods store again, anywhere. There are plenty of alternatives to buy elsewhere.

If you're looking for equipment related to the big sports like basketball, soccer, baseball,…read morefootball or golf- then this place should have what you need. But if you're looking for the smaller sport or hobby stuff like pool, darts or cornhole then you're in the wrong place. Good service though. I appreciate employees that walk around with their head up asking questions to make your experience better. Only issue was this time they didn't have anything I was looking for. That sucks for a such a large sporting goods store.
