Teodor, our project manager, did a great job assessing our home and specifying the system. The installation crew, Azamat and Val, did excellent, careful work removing the old system, running new ductwork, and installing all the new equipment. The install took about 7 days. Communication was great throughout; scheduling, installation, and permitting all went smoothly.

We wanted to add an additional vent on the main floor, and some dampers for a few of the vents and everything went like butter. Lex and Maxat were the nicest people, arrived on time, left at 6pm each day leaving the house clean. It was a 3 day install and they finished on the third day. Beyond what they needed to do, Lex walked through things that would be checked by the inspectors even on work they didn't do (GFCI plugs close to where the old unit was), and walked me through why they did some of the things they did because I was curious. We're 3 days in so far, but the installation experience was great, and the daikin system is cooling the house great (and I can already see from the energy monitoring systems we have, it's so much more efficient!).

The owner apologized, wasn't defensive, didn't try to get to me explain my self and was just apologetic to what I experienced. They offered partial refund and service to show that they want to fix the wrong and prove that they are a great service company. ------ Original review: I had a very negative experience with air shark technician. My issue was needing the capacitor replaced. The fix was quick and I was clearly over charged. When I asked about this, the technician just said it's just business. He exaggerated the price of the part needed which is a capacitor saying it's like $200-$300. It's at most $50. It took him like 10 minutes to replace the part and said you either accept the charge and pay or I just take it out. It felt very predatory, like I already fixed it you might as well pay. He proceeds to measure temps and other various things just to pass time while he waits for me to decide if I want to pay or have him unfix it. I can accept being over charged but something about how this situation transpired left a bad taste for me. For example, why wouldn't you say you need to replace this and it cost this much for the fix instead of fixing it first then say pay or I take it off.

Informed us daily at the end of the day. Kept our house and side yard clean and tidy. Follow up: the inspection went well. We received the permit as per schedule. First year warranty is included. Whenever, we have called they promptly respond and understand our issue at hand. Over all we are beyond satisfied with contracting with them.

They mounted rat spikes where I wanted, they put the lines and the units exactly where I asked and I've had no issues at all. Like many customers I wanted to put a TV over a fireplace without it being too high off the ground as this makes for an unpleasant viewing experience. One way to do this is to use the "cool wall" type of installation, which lets you locate a TV right above the fireplace, but this requires building a chase into the room - and the particular room we have is too small for this to be a good idea. I also did not want to use one of the mantle mount options for our TV because that would also bring the TV into the room when lowering it for use which would thereby also reduce the size of the room in front of the TV. So we had a bit of a conundrum. But penguin showed us some options, which allowed us to get our TV low enough without using a mantel mount or a chase at all. Specifically, they showed us an insert that you could put directly on a concrete floor and a noncombustible mantle which you could locate just a few inches over the fireplace opening without risking fire safety. (As a point of comparison, locating a typical combustible mantle above a fireplace requires strictly specified minimum distance, which in effect leads to a much much higher minimum TV installation height..) We also went with a custom surround, which makes the gas insert that we went with look a lot bigger, and also a good proportion for the space that we have... And the design of the insert itself makes it look a whole lot deeper and wider than it actually is by using reflective glass. I'm really pleased with how this turned out. For the wall tile, I'd always had a dream of doing board form concrete and penguin did a fantastic job installing it. This is a fiberglass reinforced concrete veneer product I got from Wall Theory in the color "natural gray." It's worth mentioning that I visited another store that did not think of the options we went with, which left me scratching my head as I stared at a pile of catalogs that they shared instead. Go with Penguin.

I hired Whole Duct to clean out my dryer vent and I'm very happy and relieved with the result. Scheduling with Andy was quick, easy, and straightforward. I appreciated the clear communication and professionalism the technicians Aydin and Parvin took every step of the way: arriving on time, letting me know what they were doing and giving me a heads up before turning on the loud vacuum, wearing shoe covers on my carpet, testing the dryer afterwards to make sure it turned on and worked properly, and cleaning up afterwards. I also appreciated the video and photos they took and shared with me during the process; seeing all that dust coming out of the vent was satisfying and helped me feel confident that the job was getting done properly. I used my dryer today and it is running so much more efficiently: before the duct cleaning, towels would still be pretty damp at the end of a cycle, and now they come out dry and warm. Aydin and Parvin did a great job cleaning our dryer vent. No prep was needed! They moved the dryer, cleaned the vent, and put everything back better than it was. When they started cleaning the vent, I went outside to watch how much lint was going to come out of the duct. I could see the duct flap opening and closing during the cleaning and then the vent cleaning mechanism came shooting out. When they were trying to pull it back inside, the flap got stuck in the open position. I let them know and they got out their ladder and fixed it with no complaints. This was not easy as the duct was 20+ feet up the side of the house. I really appreciated they put on shoe booties at all times when entering the house and cleaned up around the dryer when they were done. They also sent me a video of the cleaning so I could see how dirty the duct was. I would highly recommend Whole Duct for your vent cleaning. read more

Received a quick response from Andy after I put in a Yelp request. He also called me with a question based upon what I described as an issue with my dryer. The price was fair and within the same range of all the other offers I eventually received. Aydin and Parvin were able to come out in a few hours and do a thorough vent cleaning (inside-out and outside-in front the roof) given it had probably been at least 5 years since I last had the vent cleared. Aydin described what they were doing and took a short video of what had accumulated in the vent. It took about an hour to get the service completed given the amount of lint and dust and having to go on the roof. I am very impressed with Whole Duct. I scheduled an appointment easily with Andy on Friday to clean my dryer vent. They came the very next day on Saturday to do the work. Aydin arrived exactly on time as scheduled with Andy. He started right in to complete the work. I booked an inspection and cleaning for a wood burning fireplace in Santa Cruz. They were on time, very polite and immediately went to work. Upon completion they showed me a before & after video with a clear difference the cleaning made and recommended several repairs such as replacing worn away mortar inside the firebox. Ayden did a fantastic job cleaning our dryer vent, this hadn't been cleaned by the previous owner in a long time. He shared videos and pictures of the whole process with us including how much lint was there. He even explained a lot about how to maintain it, and other aspects of our HVAC as part of the free inspection. Being first time home owners I'm really glad I went with this company, they may be a bit more expensive but definitely worth it over the others for peace of mind and reliability! Whole Duct came out to our home (in the rain) to deal with a fireplace problem. They quickly found a problem with the fireplace installation, and suggested they look at the duct from our clothes dryer, since they couldn't immediately help with the fireplace. Instead of trying to sell me on an unnecessary vent cleaning, since they confirmed my main duct line was already spotless, they diagnosed that the flexible transition duct behind the dryer had been crushed during a bad appliance installation, completely blocking airflow. They quickly replaced and corrected the transition duct, brought my dryer back to 100% working condition, and made sure everything was safe and properly installed. Jay came first and was very professional and friendly. He explained everything clearly and removed the nest quickly. After Jay left, I noticed birds going in and out of the vent again and starting to rebuild the nest. I contacted the owner, Jason, because I wanted to understand what my options were. I didn't want to keep having someone come back every week to remove new nests. Instead of receiving clear explanations, I was told to "take your anger and frustration on your HOA" and later "I don't like playing that game." I was never angry or rude. In fact, I specifically explained that I was only trying to understand the situation because I was getting different information from the HOA and the vent company. I expected professional communication, but instead I felt dismissed and misunderstood. Although they returned to inspect the vent, the way my questions were handled left me with little confidence in their customer service.
