The marina is beautiful.

The food made by Eddie (redfish, fish and chips was really good. The fish is fresh of course and the service was fast and VERY FRIENDLY. The server/bar tender for food service is Mel! The ambiance was really nice! The property recently renovated with fresh pine paneling installed in all the rooms & the restaurant smells and looks amazing! Melanie the bartender is super friendly and fun! Please tell her hello when you stop in. Eddie is the cook~his redfish & fish and chips were outstanding. Jodi checked us into our room. I'm a sucker for a great gift shop and I doubt you will be disappointed; I certainly wasn't...

We were so glad that Who Dat was right next door to our condo. Walking distance is a good thinThey are welcoming, have plenty of room to sit and eat and the crowd is lively. This is not a classy place. They do have great bar food though that is fine for lunch, snacks or dinner. We came several times during our short stay in Steinhatchee and I ordered the Potato Skins every time I came! They were so good I failed to stop and take photos! I also ordered chicken tenders which were very good. Also good to know...They have clean restrooms which you will find outside!

Great place to grab a drink or more with a quick snack. Fried fresh seafood. Crap prices for the food and drinks, convenient if you are staying at the hotel. The hotel here is s ok, the staff is not inviting in the hotel or restaurant. Not sure what is going on but I did have a good time. The hotel is quite outdated, nylon bedspread, food on the floor by the cabinet in the kitchen, some dead bugs but for one night it was fine. It's right on the water. We looked at a shed even though we were waterfront. If you decide to book I would ask for a view or you will be looking at a parking lot or looking at a shed. If you book a room at the hotel, it comes with a boat slip.

Horrible service. Kitchen is very slow and does not even send out items together We ordered items. Fried veggie sampler and wings. After getting our sampler and finishing all we were going to eat about 20 minutes. We asked our server when we would get our wings and was told we would get them when the kitchen got around to it A couple minutes later a table who was seated at least 15 minutes after us got their wings before us. When I could get the servers attention again I asked to cancel the wings and asked to check out. We paid and left with out any tip. I told one of the servers the kitchen needed to do their job better. I was then followed out to the parking lot and verbally assaulted by the guy working in the kitchen. He got in my face nose to nose cussing me out. Avoid this spot at all costs Thank you for ruining a nice Father's Day get away with my wife.

Really nice place on the water that is pet friendly! We had the lunch special with grouper and flounder. It was affordable and tasted fresh. Would definitely come back again!

What a great place. Simple Florida menu great service, come beer, great view. For the bay-sayers crying because 90% of the menu is fried.. Go get bent. You want baby oak leaf and acorn salad with an ebook and balsamic reduction? Go to Tampa. You want soft shell crab, gator tail and an ice cold 420? Then this is the spot.

Menu

Absolutely delicious food. Peel and eat shrimp were incredibly fresh and sweet. Grouper was cooked perfectly and our 6 year old ate almost all the big plump fried shrimp and wouldn't share. Ice cold Yuengling on tap and awesome wait staff.

The food was excellent, the service was top shelf. I would recommend to every one. Cocktails were generous and cold.

We ordered jumbo blue crab claws, bacon cheeseburgers, bone-in wings, and washed it all down with cold beers. To top it off, we finished with a slice of Key Lime pie. Every single dish came out hot, fresh, and cooked to order -- exactly what you want after a full day on the water. But the real highlight of our visit was our waitress Kiley. She was absolutely fantastic -- attentive, friendly, and made sure our drinks were never empty. Great service like hers is hard to find and makes all the difference. If you're in the Steinhatchee area and looking for great food and even better service, don't walk -- run to Deadman's Bay. We'll definitely be back next fishing trip!

Our waitress was attentive throughout the meal, and the manager/owner (I'm not sure which) personally came by to check on us. I also noticed him visiting other tables, which was a nice touch and showed good customer service. We originally wanted to sit outside because the view and setting are beautiful, but the Steinhatchee gnats were definitely out that evening. Unfortunately, I forgot our gnat spray -- and around here you know that's almost mandatory! We started with the conch fritters, and those were a hit with both of us. Very flavorful and definitely something I'd order again. I ordered the scallops, which were tasty, although they weren't served very hot and the breading was falling off a bit. My husband had the shrimp dinner and enjoyed his meal as well. The salad bar was fresh and nicely stocked, which we appreciated. Overall, we enjoyed our visit and would return, especially for the atmosphere, friendly service, and conch fritters.

We were warned that there were only 2 wait staff on at the time, and to be patient. To that, our waitress had the sweetest southern accent, her name started with an M, she was amazing. She handled her section, yes we waited but had no real complaints. The prices were a bit out of line with the food offerings. I paid $25.99 for some tender, juicy shrimp and $29.99 for a plate of "fried scallop" all were the size of a nickle and tasted like punched ray wing. A very entertaining, true Florida, off the beaten path experience. While the restaurant is not the best in the world, it's pretty good and the only option on a Tuesday night that we could find. The place was crowded and we were taken care of with the right level of attention. We stayed in the newly remodeled first floor of one of the buildings. There's still lots of cleanup and re-building to do. It's a little sad to see Steinhatchee suffer so much. But glad to see folks trying to make a go of life again.

It's not far from the heart of downtown Live Oak and not far from the railroad tracks, either, of which you become quickly aware when a freight train passes by. Despite the small space, they have a pool table inside, a bar (of course) and that pool table doubles as a buffet table when they have potlucks and the like. There is apparently also an outdoor tiki bar area in the yard behind the building but I didn't go back there. Beer is the preferred spirit it seems and the crowd is about 99% locals, mostly middle-aged but some in their early to mid twenties. The theme therefore is country/biker to an extent but they were playing old hard rocks standards when I was there and then . . . something . . . not sure what it was, but some song I remember from the early 2000s that probably was Linkin Park or a band that copied Linkin Park. So aside from the B-list or C-list early 2000s blast from the past, a very cool and low-key bar in a very handy location in Live Oak.

The bartender was friendly and attentive. I ordered fried fish which came with hushpuppies and fries. My lunch was deliscious! The fish was fresh and there was the perfect amount of breading (not too much). The straw fries were hot and yummy. I only ate half and took the rest home for dinner. This place is pure coastal‑country magic -- the kind of spot where the food hits hard, the drinks stay cold, and the vibe feels like home. From the moment you walk in, you get that perfect mix of sports‑bar energy and beach‑road chill. Locals laughing, TVs rolling, the smell of burgers and wings drifting through the air -- it's the kind of atmosphere you can't fake. And the food? Man, listen. * The burgers come out juicy, stacked, and seasoned like somebody back there actually cares. * The wings are exactly what wings should be -- crispy outside, tender inside, and sauced like they mean it. * The shrimp baskets and rotating fish sandwiches remind you you're just minutes from the Gulf. * Even the fries and tenders hit that comfort‑food sweet spot. It's the kind of menu that doesn't need a fancy website because the regulars already know: everything on it is good. Service is friendly, the drinks are cold, and the whole place feels like a spot where stories get told and memories get made. Our first red flag (and I will say it almost made us just turn around and leave) was the surly hostess who seated us. Although the place was not busy at the time (5ish on a Friday night) she wanted to seat us at the bar. We told her we preferred a table so her next move was to put us at a table right in front of the live band stage. Did I mention they were NOT busy?! So we were jerks and moved ourselves to a side table. Our server was super sweet and friendly. We started with the half dozen oysters which ended up being $24! We have been to high end restaurants (Michelin) and never paid $4 per piece. I got the grilled fish which came as a bunch of tough pieces with very little flavoring. The best thing on my plate? The greens. Hubs got blackened scallops. He enjoyed those. When I say I don't usually give poor reviews, I did think twice before even posting this one since so many people enjoy this restaurant
