We originally wanted to sit outside because the view and setting are beautiful, but the Steinhatchee gnats were definitely out that evening. Unfortunately, I forgot our gnat spray -- and around here you know that's almost mandatory! We started with the conch fritters, and those were a hit with both of us. Very flavorful and definitely something I'd order again. I ordered the scallops, which were tasty, although they weren't served very hot and the breading was falling off a bit. My husband had the shrimp dinner and enjoyed his meal as well. The salad bar was fresh and nicely stocked, which we appreciated. Overall, we enjoyed our visit and would return, especially for the atmosphere, friendly service, and conch fritters.

The wait was just a little long, but we were behind two large groups of patrons and a big order. The head cook, even came out to apologize for our delay in service. The ambiance is nice and quaint with plenty of room for several people. I grew up in Steinhatchee/ Rocky Creek, so it was nice to be reminded of home and the old fishing village atmosphere. When I placed the order I was the only person to do so. They didnt have enough change, so I had to wait, I decided to use that money to tip the girls. The hot chocolate I received tasted like steamed milk. No peppermint, no chocolate. Im not sure what happened, it just wasn't good. I took 3 sips and tossed it.
