The "special steak" for Mother's Day was 1/8 inch and horrible. The expensive filet was way over cooked. My daughter sent hers back and they brought one out that was ice cold in the middle - not edible at all. The grouper was also nasty. My husband paid $170 for nothing. Do not go there unless you just want to drink at the bar. Wish we could get our money back!

Our waitress was attentive throughout the meal, and the manager/owner (I'm not sure which) personally came by to check on us. I also noticed him visiting other tables, which was a nice touch and showed good customer service. We originally wanted to sit outside because the view and setting are beautiful, but the Steinhatchee gnats were definitely out that evening. Unfortunately, I forgot our gnat spray -- and around here you know that's almost mandatory! We started with the conch fritters, and those were a hit with both of us. Very flavorful and definitely something I'd order again. I ordered the scallops, which were tasty, although they weren't served very hot and the breading was falling off a bit. My husband had the shrimp dinner and enjoyed his meal as well. The salad bar was fresh and nicely stocked, which we appreciated. Overall, we enjoyed our visit and would return, especially for the atmosphere, friendly service, and conch fritters.

We ordered jumbo blue crab claws, bacon cheeseburgers, bone-in wings, and washed it all down with cold beers. To top it off, we finished with a slice of Key Lime pie. Every single dish came out hot, fresh, and cooked to order -- exactly what you want after a full day on the water. But the real highlight of our visit was our waitress Kiley. She was absolutely fantastic -- attentive, friendly, and made sure our drinks were never empty. Great service like hers is hard to find and makes all the difference. If you're in the Steinhatchee area and looking for great food and even better service, don't walk -- run to Deadman's Bay. We'll definitely be back next fishing trip!

We were warned that there were only 2 wait staff on at the time, and to be patient. To that, our waitress had the sweetest southern accent, her name started with an M, she was amazing. She handled her section, yes we waited but had no real complaints. The prices were a bit out of line with the food offerings. I paid $25.99 for some tender, juicy shrimp and $29.99 for a plate of "fried scallop" all were the size of a nickle and tasted like punched ray wing. I iver heard another customer state that they would like more chicken in their Chicken Alfredo, as the serving they got, 4 peices was ridiculous for the price they charge.

I placed my and my partner's order a little before 4p. I ordered a cup of clam chowder (which about 30 minutes later was told they were out), a buffalo chicken sandwich with French fries, mozzarella sticks and an order of chicken wings. The young female bartender was sweet and doing best to take care of the bar and take food orders. She kept giving updates on the food and kept saying it's on its way and kept giving an estimate of how much longer. About 5pm, my chicken sandwich finally comes out without French fries. The bartender went to the kitchen and shortly there after the French fries came out. Then the soup of the day was brought out (bartender told me when she told me that she told the kitchen to give me the soup of the day without asking me). The bartender then said that the mozzarella sticks and wings would be out in about 4-5 minutes. It's not far from the heart of downtown Live Oak and not far from the railroad tracks, either, of which you become quickly aware when a freight train passes by. Despite the small space, they have a pool table inside, a bar (of course) and that pool table doubles as a buffet table when they have potlucks and the like. There is apparently also an outdoor tiki bar area in the yard behind the building but I didn't go back there. Beer is the preferred spirit it seems and the crowd is about 99% locals, mostly middle-aged but some in their early to mid twenties. The theme therefore is country/biker to an extent but they were playing old hard rocks standards when I was there and then . . . something . . . not sure what it was, but some song I remember from the early 2000s that probably was Linkin Park or a band that copied Linkin Park. So aside from the B-list or C-list early 2000s blast from the past, a very cool and low-key bar in a very handy location in Live Oak.

The fish was fresh and there was the perfect amount of breading (not too much). The straw fries were hot and yummy. I only ate half and took the rest home for dinner.
