We had lunch at Steamers and asked the bartender for a recommendation for another bar. He recommended Bonish so we went there after eating. Super cute place in town with a pretty patio. Super clean, super cool bar run by locals who pour stiff drinks. Sit in the bullshit corner if you like, and observe the art, photos and videos. Speak to the owners they are fine company. Buy a hand carved dick whistle and check out the ornate restrooms, then grab a pizza around the corner for sustenance. I did and it was a blast! read more

Love this place I will be back!!!! I met the owners who are awesome people, we swapped amazing stories as I got drunk off my ass on their Margaritas and before you judge me, it was because I was already drinking margaritas before I got there. Next time I will be trying their awesome whiskey collection they have. I sat for hours talking to the locals and just enjoying my first time to Cedar Key. It's truly a local hangout and fan favorite! Art, ammo, beer, wine , bar. As an out of towner, I felt we came across a hidden gem. Seasoned bourbon drinkers will be pleasantly surprised to hear that they serve pappy van winkle along with a multitude of high end bourbons. The ambience invited you to appreciate the local sea fairing lifestyle mixed with a contemporary vibe. Hammerhead shark on the wall drawing your attention as you revert your eyes to the robust drink menu. The outdoor seating was like hanging out at your neighbors backyard and imbibing to keep up with the Joneses. Shelves are occupied by multiple bottles of bourbon ranging from $50-$600. While the main "downtown" has most of the restaurants and bars, Bonish was by far my favorite experience. I will definitely come back here. Cheers. read more

The Storefront is ever changing with new and eclectic pieces from local estates and artists. There's a tremendous array of vintage items, antiques and photography. Found this while wondering Cedar Key and what a delightful surprise! The owners are running the place and are friendly, engaging and great conversationists! They are running what she described as a "mullet". A unique gift store up front and a fully stocked bar in the back! How fun and clever. Love this place. It's an art studio, Jazz, Rhythm and Blues, and a phenomenal collection of Bourbon. The music is great and not too loud. If you have a dog then this is your place. The owner is very friendly. He doesn't serve food, so you can order from one of the local restaurants and bring your food here. We ordered from Tony's across the street. Locals gather here and are friendly. If you come to Cedar Key come here for a very relaxing environment. read more

This is located two blocks from the main strip in cedar key and run by an adorable husband and wife that displays many pieces of their own art as well as antiques and handmade gifts. The bar has a an impressive selection especially considering its size. It seemed more like a place for locals to sit and relax but is absolutely a must see for tourist as well. Everything from the earnings to the pints is reasonably priced and the service is wonderful. read more

Something's not kosher here. We spent 7 days on Cedar Key for my birthday about a month ago and stopped at a lot of places, had dinner at 83/29 west which was good, Island Hotel which was good, and visited all of the bars and shops during our weeks stay. The Studio was OK, but way overpriced drinks compared to the rest of the town and we certainly didn't feel the "welcome" others expressed, even when standing at the bar to order. Also, while at another establishment we made friends with a local couple who had a rip-off experience with these folks. SO in regard to that scathing review, I looked at the Studios response to that review (which they seem to have proudly posted) and this cracked me up: the owners of the studio, in defense, posted pics of what I think was the text conversation with the logo owner and they said to the logo owner- "what will it take"? That seems a bit on the guilty side to me. Then, the lady owner adds- "we are well liked here". Astonishing. As an owner of 3 businesses, I'd have to say there is no humility with Bonnish Studios. Maybe their arrogance is catching up with them. Wont go back. Oh, and while in Homassasa, we spent time in a campground with a guy who told me this same business never paid him for an item they sold. Claimed they already paid him, but he hadn't been back to their shop for months to be paid until that day. Wow. read more
