The Whittier Greenway Trail, Whittier, CA 90603 Nice flat walk that's about 5 miles long. Bike and dog friendly. It's a flat straight away pavement walk way with bike trails along the sides but keep in mind there are several cross lights you have to walk thru. There is Plenty of shade, but be aware, there are several homeless people along the path and a few in the bushes as well. If you're bringing your dog, make sure to bring a waist bag because a few times that I've been here the containers they have along the walks were empty. Overall it's a nice quick easy walk.

I walk my pup here daily and it's honestly getting worse, today we found a lot of trash everywhere :(

I frequent the Greenway Trail and enjoy coming here with my dog. It's great for walking, biking, or running or just to get out and enjoy the outdoors. The landscaping is beautiful and always appears to be well maintained with amazing trees. I love the nature vibe especially when coming across friendly inhabitants. They also have an exercise area, display ogle miniatures history homes, and quad structure. This has to be one of the most beautiful trails I've been on, I'm glad it close to my house!!

I go here every day after I drop my kids off at school. Very safe & friendly walk. Very clean.

Love this! Adorable little models of original Whittier homes.

It's one of my local trails, so I can't hate on it too much. I'm glad it's here, provides a nice path, and allows us to explore other areas. Yeah, there are some sketchy parts around the overpasses, but what place doesn't have those, right? I dig the mile markers at every tenth, exercise equipment, and factoids about Whittier along the route. Good stuff! Overall, good on you, Whittier, for this fine little path.

We parked on Pioneer Blvd on the west end of the trail and there are no parking restrictions in the residential neighborhood. It's a popular flat trail used mostly by walkers with children. We did not like the constant stopping at street lights and the extremely rare and non existing benches and tables. We made a pit stop at Super Burrito and took our food to go hoping we could sit at a bench on the trail and enjoy the food and people watch, that didn't happen.

    The bridge on trail.

I just moved to the city and love this trail. It's a quiet and nice trail to get your walk in or bike ride for the day. It's overall clean but there's a few homeless on the trail. Some live there and some are walking it. (This is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5) It's a pretty busy trail in the morning when I've gone. I also love the dog park you pass by while on trail .. which I want to take my husky to very soon.

It was a nice clean and easy trail. We weren't sure where to park at first but eventually found the trail. Definitely going to bring my roller skates for next time.

I've lived right off Mills and never used this trail to run. Stuuuuupid. It was a nice 8 miles today. I just wish I didn't have to stop so much to cross streets.

Entrance from Mills & Lambert where this also a little parking lot. Super easy access.

Cute path that is street adjacent but still "private path" esque. I drive to this trail on the weekend because I can make my workout as long as I like. Since the trail is pretty lengthy (8 miles), I can walk or jog for over a couple of hours. The only sucky part are the street crossings and the people who are anti-maskers. Thankfully, the path is wide enough to avoid other people germs if that's also a goal. Great for elderly, infant strollers, differently-abled bodies and those returning to a health journey. 2021 Trail Review 1/26

Beautiful long trail! Loved it, my baby puppy loved the trail and my parents loved it! It's definitely nice in the better woods of town! At night it's sorta creepy because it gets dark, but lots of bikers and hikers!

What used to be an abandoned railroad track is now a nicely paved road for the entire community to enjoy. I drive by this trail every day, but I would only see certain sections of it from the main road. Little did I know that this trail stretches about 15 miles from Mills all the way to Hadleys. If you're planning on riding your bike and you don't live too far from the trail, I recommend making your way to the starting point by taking the dirt road. I had a lot of fun going over the rocks even with dust trailing behind my husband's bike and settling on me. Since it was our first time on the trail and we were unfamiliar with it, we used a cycling phone app called Strava to help us navigate. I love it because it's a leisurely ride for beginner cyclists like me. The trail is long so you get enough cardio, but it's mostly flat so it's not too challenging where you're left with no energy after a long day's work. I'm even hesitant to call it a trail because it's more like a path. I also like that it's clean and well-kept. Don't come alone though or late at night because bad people could easily hide in the bushes. What You'll See: -Families, friends, couples on their bikes -Lovers strolling -Historical landmarks with fun facts about the railroad track that it used to be -People jogging and walking or enjoying the company of their children or dogs -Workout stops with gym equipment -Front and back views of people's homes, commercial and industrial businesses -Beautiful trees and landscaping -The sunrise or sunset depending on when you go -Schools, churches and other typical elements that make up a community What You'll Smell: -Barbecue from residents grilling in their backyard -Nature What You'll Hear: -Cyclists zooming by old and young -People panting from their workouts -Hushed conversations -Laughter -Cars beeping their horns -Sirens from police cars and ambulances According to news websites, the city has approved expansion to this trail which will make it stretch all the way to Brea. That's exciting but it might take a few years before coming to fruition. The only downside is that the trail is not entirely connected. It's broken by the main roads, and you have to go through a lot of traffic lights and stop signs. On the bright side, this gives you the opportunity to rest for a few seconds or a minute before continuing on. You also have to dodge through a lot of people if you ride your bike at a busy time because the trail is quite narrow. Just make sure you follow all signs and ride safe at all times. Overall this trail made me feel incredibly happy and fulfilled and I can't wait to try it again. I was actually sad when it ended. Next time my husband and I plan to try it in the morning. It's a sweet little luxury to have a safe trail like this right in your own backyard and Whittier residents should be grateful for that. The best part for me was going over the bridge that crosses the intersection because of the picturesque view with the sun and palm trees in the background.

This trail is a beautiful one to walk, run, ride your bike, etc... I love coming here especially on mornings. It's so peaceful and you can really clear your head. It's never too packed so you get to really enjoy your walk. This trail goes on forever from Whittier. It's on Lambert. They have beautiful trees and plants throughout and a line separating both ways coming. There's also spots where you can stop at a little weight station. Any time you get to a light you do have to cross the street to continue walking the trail. There are no lights at night so I would make sure you come when it is daylight. I love to come with my little family to walk and my daughter ride her bike. It's a great trail to check out especially if you're in Whittier

Adventure Park. It has an early-'90s water-park ring to its name, and while parts of it look like they're from the early '90s, it's just a plain old park with athletic fields, a gym, green space, and some sparse picnic tables. And what would a Whittier-area park be without its obligatory random ravine and/or concrete drainage area? In this case, said concrete drainage area is dangerous-looking for kids and runs right through the park at a right angle. It's fenced off, and there are helpful bridges to cross it, but I wonder why they sited it through the park rather than on one end of it. I'm sure some kids have adventures here, because all parks with grass and play equipment can be fun and create childhood memories. But Whittier has spoiled me with its parks, and while this is technically South Whittier so it's outside of Whittier's borders, it's still close enough that it should feel like a Whittier park, and it most certainly does not. Why? Because it's totally flat. And totally rectangular. When my parents were walking twice a day during COVID lockdowns/curfews, I suggested they visit this park to change up their rotation, which comprised only two or three parks at the time. They said it was OK, and I later came with my mom and realized why it wasn't their favorite. The concrete path isn't totally straight, so there's some variety, but there isn't much shade along the path. There's lots of parking, and it serves its purpose as a neighborhood park, but it could be so much better.

I saw a lot of teenagers there, and the whole place feels energetic in a way that teenagers would love. The open fields, walking areas, and places to sit don't cost anything at all, which makes it easy to relax and have fun without needing a plan. I didn't realize how much there was to enjoy until I walked around and saw how naturally welcoming the park feels. It surprised me how comfortable it was to just be there without feeling rushed. Even though it's just a community park, it gives teenagers a great place to hang out, take pictures, play sports, or just be creative outdoors. I only visited La Mirada Community Park one time in my life before making this review, but it ended up being one of the most relaxed and youthful places I've been to in a long time. I never doubted that the experience would turn out the way I hoped it would. I've lived for 24 years, but in the summer of 2024 I learned that I'm still physically and mentally 18 years old, and that my prefrontal cortex is more developed than the average 25‑year‑old's. Maybe that's why I connect so much with places that feel playful and full of energy. I would highly recommend that teenagers go to this park because it gives them a fun, open space to enjoy themselves and feel creative.
