Love this mom & pop style hardware shop adding to the charm on Main St at the Manchester road race starting line. This place is significantly larger than it appears from the front with parking and entrances on main st. and out back. The selection of products is far more than I've expected and ranges from paint to key cutting to lawn care tsalt to any kind of hardware you need. Star Hardware is a testament to how things used to be and how there is no room or need in small town America for the big box stores that bring very little value to the smaller communities across this country. Where can you go to get your window screens repaired, keys cut and your propane bottles filled while you wait and a place you can carry on a conversation about your home project with an employee that really understands what you're talking about and can offer real solutions and short cuts that will save you time, money and a lot of frustration and ask you about your family or a local event you both attended. I've been to this location many times and have yet to be disappointed. This friendly hometown store is not only convenient with competitive pricing, it gives back to the local community so the dollars you spend here benefits the local schools, community programs, community sports and clubs. Buying local isn't just about doing the right thing it's about keeping the right things alive in your community.

My latest experience was to purchase both a ballast and T12 lightbulbs. I'm not afraid to ask for help and say I don't know something. I didn't even have to wait, someone came over and offered to help me. He told me where I could find ballasts and even said they are giving them away. He tried to first find me something on clearance as he wanted to save me money. When the one I was looking for was not there in clearance, he me the right one, which was about $18. I was looking for LED lights, but he convinced me that this might not be a good fit, today, because they were new and have not come down in price. This light is at the bottom of my stairs and won't be used often so I'll give it a few more months before I address LED lights again. What he gave me was the ability to get my bottom of the stairs lights back, not just a product. Home Depot does it well and that's why this is my home store for hardware.

HOWEVER... delivery was scheduled... the driver called at 11:45 to tell us they would be there in 20 minutes. At 12:00 I received a text stating "they could not complete our delivery" and someone would call to reschedule. WHAT?? Well apparently, due to a storm, there was a tree down on a street in our neighborhood (not ours) and the drivers chose not to detour the ONE MINUTE it would have taken them to go around the block. They just called 15 minutes earlier... they couldn't call me back??? I immediately called the delivery number they gave me and was told the drivers could NOT turn around, and the next delivery date was several days out. I went above and beyond to prepare for this delivery... even putting the old refrigerator right by the door for them. The drivers must be in the business of losing money for the company... after this debacle we immediately cancelled the order and purchased elsewhere.
