I brought in an old Craftsman snowblower from the early 1990s that needed big time attention. Chris gave me a very reasonable estimate upfront and was honest about the challenge of finding discontinued parts for a machine that's 32-33 years old. I dropped it off the day before Thanksgiving 2025 -- and naturally, a heavy snowstorm hit that weekend on a Saturday, selling out every available snowblower with an electric starter under $1,200. Chris was patient and kept the estimate open while I sourced discontinued parts from eBay (electric starter, housing, paddles, and more). We both knew it would take time, and he never rushed the process. Once all the parts arrived -- including an idler pulley that thankfully is still being made and purchased from Shorewood Home & Auto -- the team completed the repair. The snowblower now runs better than it has in at least 15 years. This wasn't my first great experience with Chris and Joe in service. About three years ago, they repaired an Echo leaf vacuum/shredder that another shop couldn't fix correctly. Their work saved me hours of raking leaves and earned my trust. And a shout‑out to Monica in parts as well -- she helped me source a new front‑wheel‑drive transmission for a 20 year‑old Craftsman lawnmower back in August 2024, which I installed myself. Steve in Sales is also helpful if you are looking for new equipment. Everyone at Shorewood Home & Auto in Homer Glen consistently delivers excellent service, honest communication, and real expertise -- especially with older equipment that many places won't touch or repair correctly. I got cheated. I purchased and installed a replacement battery from this shop for my Toro walk…read morebehind mower. They charged about $80 for the battery. It lasted only one year. I called and asked about the warranty on this battery and I was told by Alex (service department) they only offer a "90 day warranty on the batteries". Alex also said "many customers buy a new battery every year". I was shocked. The original battery on this mower (I bought new from this shop) lasted about 10 years. So I ask: if the original battery lasted 10 years and I buy a replacement that only lasts one year, was this new battery an "OEM replacement" or a knock off?? Keep reading: I decided to look on Amazon for a replacement. They have the identical battery for $20 delivered and it has a 1 year warranty! So, It seems this business is selling knock off parts as OEM (original equipment manufacturer) replacement parts and charging 4 times more for that part. Shame on Shorewood Home & Auto. Now I know why their Yelp rating is so low!! I can deal with rude and disrespectful employees at this business -- I'm use to it -- but I will not pay for an OEM part and get a cheap knock off for my money. I've literally spent thousands with this company through the past several years and to be sold garbage and to be charged excessive for this garbage is inexcusable.

The pieces are a little pricy, but that's understandable given that they are hand crafted. We visited early one Saturday morning and were there for at least 45 minutes. The store was crowded and there weren't enough employees present to assist waiting customers. We ended up leaving without ever talking to a store associate. We would have considered placing an order, but didn't because of of that. We ended up going to Walter E. Smithe instead and purchasing a dining room table there. Still I'd consider Rustic Elements as a possible option whenever I decide to upgrade my current furniture pieces.

Came, assessed the issue and instead of selling me a new lock which I thought we would need, he was able to rekey the lock at a more modest charge. He even shaved the lock entrance a bit so it would fit better given it's age.
