Everything you can ask for in a mom and pop package store. Great selection of beer, wine and spirits. I'm not a big wine person, although on the occasions I needed some the knowledgeable staff has been able to help guide me to what I needed from a wide selection to choose from. I do think they can do a better job at stocking craft beers, but understand with the shifting market it's hard to stay all over it. Spirits and bourbon/whiskey in particular is where they shine. Regular tastings of bottles/brands on Fridays/Saturdays and an incredible selection of store pick whiskeys, you'd never figure a small shop without a huge social media presence would carry such a variety. Ricky the owner is friendly and outgoing and can help steer you in the right direction on any given day. Also, the Labrador mascot is endearing, but they really should replace/fix the sign on the store front! read more

Very disappointed. My bourbon club and I have been going to Whitlock Package for years due to the good selection and we all live in the neighborhood. They keep the allocated stuff behind the register and they had a bottle of Stagg Jr. this past Sunday for $70 and told the cashier, "I'll take it" thinking this was my lucky day. The cashier then pulled out a laundry list of crappy liquor that I don't need and told me that I needed to buy $170 of that stuff to be able to buy the Stagg Jr. ($240 total). When I politely asked why they play these games (and he recognized me as a regular), his response with a smirk was, "You gotta play the allocated game, man!" You gotta be kidding me! My club and I are frequent customers, but no more. That was the last straw because they've been doing this bait and switch junk taking advantage of the bourbon craze to unload their unpopular liquor. Go to Big A Bottle Shop on the South Loop instead. Great selection and the owner actually appreciates the business. He does not mark up his allocated bourbon when he's lucky enough to get some. Rather, he celebrates his customers and appreciates their love for bourbon. He also knows his stuff, gives knowledgeable recommendations and often has great store picks. FYI, I scored a bottle of Stagg Jr. at Big A Bottle Shop last year for $65. No questions asked. No additional purchase necessary. In short, they do it the right and ethical way. Big A is located at 957 South Marietta Pkwy SE, Marietta, GA 30060, by the way. Giving Whitlock Package 2 stars because they really do have a great selection at decent prices. The staff is incredible!!! They are super knowledgeable and polite. The owner gives great recommendations and finds particular barrels for store picks that go above and beyond. This is the only store I go to anymore. read more

Simply some of the worst Customer Service people upfront I have ever run across. unfortunately for Ricky the owner that is why people will not go back. I have been a long time customer. I spend well over a hundred each month for wine and bourbon. Today was my final visit. even though it is very convenient as I shop at Kroger nearby. Ricky has hired some front register staff that are rude, disinterested, and frankly don't need to be there. Imagine requiring a $60.00 purchase for a bottle of Eagle Rare in 2022 and the logic they present is "we sell it at cost and other stores sell it for $300", which is actual, complete horseshit. There's twenty other stores within a ten mile radius that wont outright lie to your face, avoid this place like the plague that it is. read more

The selection of Whitlock Package is second to none as compared to any other shop in the area. However, their service absolutely sucks. If you HAPPEN to catch the owner or the dude with the beard that knows rye whiskeys at the shop, you are in luck. If you get stuck with anyone else, especially the one girl that works the register, expect absolutely zero help or interaction. We are in the store a couple of times a week and have a running bet on whether or not they or she will acknowledge that we are even there, even when checking out. This is the only business that I have ever been to in my life where you can go in, buy over $100 in merchandise, and never have any type of exchange, even two words (thank you), or three words (want a receipt?) spoken. Like I said at the top, we will continue to go there because of the selection, just be sure to set the bar EXTREMELY low in regard to the staff if you aren't working with the owner or the dude with the beard that knows rye whiskey. read more

Great selection of bourbons, wine, spirits and beer. Clean and well organized. Found some hard to find bourbon at great prices. Excellent selection of bourbon and barrel picks. Go see Ricky. A small package store right off the Marietta Square, of course the number 1 place you want to be buying liquor, right? Sometimes it's like going to Boulevard amongst the crackheads with a sign on your shirt that says, I'm on my way to buy booze: WANNA CHAT? Actually, the Square has gotten a bunch safer in the past few years, which makes it only remotely sketchy in this little area. The store itself has a general selection of alcohol, nothing too out of the ordinary. They carry your beers, liquors, wines that you'd find anywhere else most likely, though there aren't a ton of other package stores in this area, so odds are if you're shopping here, this is it. Convenient with decent selection. This place has a wide selection of Wine and Booze. They also have a pretty good selection of beer from mass produced sludge to some rather nice craft brews and imports. Good staff that does their job and checks IDs. read more

3% more because I want to use my credit card (Visa- not Amex)!? Seriously? I have never purchased anything from here till this one visit for 5 bottles of liqueur. I have been to many large package stores and never charged this (Total Wine, Smyrna House of Beverages....). When I asked the cashier about the up charge, the response was "well, the owners want to do this. It's common for large package stores. We're not Walmart." Damn straight it's not Walmart but it is nothing compared to the other retailers. All of you considering shopping here- save your self the trip for another location. Nice place,clean,good selection of hard liquors and beer.. on a side note they do have an automated ice machine located outside where you can actually stick a cooler underneath a shoot and it fills it up with ice or just buy a bag of ice. read more

I have been extremely pleased with the selection and pricing at Whitlock Package. I understand that the current owner, David, bought the store in late 2013 and has made a number of changes. Extensive selection of quality wines and a growing array of craft beers makes Whitlock the place to go for all occasions. The staff is very knowledgable and makes great recommendations.
