We have worked with many GCs in the bay area and none have been quite as all encompassing as this company is. I have been able to work with them to do rebar work, paving for our sidewalk, and a concrete pour for our pool. They are extremely versatile in the services they provide, and if they don't do it they're happy to point you in the right direction. Truly experts in their field and I'm so grateful for that because our home turned out gorgeously. We were looking to find a company that was licensed, insured, and bonded and Whiteside was completely up to par in all of those fields. We used Whiteside Construction for retaining services and foundation services for our offices commercial work as well as our homes pool deck construction. We were able to use them for excavation services and then followed up with the concrete pumping, shotcrete and concrete work, and reinforcement. The job was finished beautifully and they followed up and took extra care to make sure everything was done perfectly. The project manager Dave was extremely knowledgeable about all the work needed to be done, and he told me he's been an expert witness on the job for many construction cases. His expertise really showed in having the job turn out well. They were able to have great and competitor pricing for the plans I provided for them, and they responded much more quickly to my request for an estimate than any other company has. I hired Whiteside Construction for the homes I was helping renovate in San Rafael, Mill Valley, and San Francisco. When I first started planning the renovation in Mill Valley I did not have any plans, so Whiteside Construction directed me to a company that helped me draw up plans for a new finishing on a driveway, pavement, and backyard gondola. Whatever they couldn't help me with - they helped me find the right person to finish the job. They were completely consistent with how they said they could help me out with the remodel- and the results turned out beautifully. My family and I could not have better things to say about Whiteside Construction. Moving from Southern California to the Bay Area was nerve wracking for us for so many reasons but most of all because we knew we would have to find a company to take on our new home renovations. We contacted the team at Whiteside Construction for retaining wall repairs at our business at the recommendation of a friend who had used them in the past. From the minute I called to schedule an appointment for an estimate, Dave was able to accommodate my schedule- which is very much appreciated. The project manager that came out to the property very knowledgeable, detail oriented, and patient. Pricing was in line with another contractor we had used previously, but we went with Whiteside Construction since their team could start the repairs sooner. At the end of the day, we couldn't be happier with the results of the repairs (and no complaints or issues with my landlord during the post-work inspection). I found Whiteside Construction through the Marin Builders Association and also found out they were a member of United Contractors, which was a huge plus. My family and I decided to use them for the improvements on our bay area home because of the positive reviews we had heard from others and because they were a union group. We were happy to support the company in that sense, and we are so glad that we did! They helped us make a better economic choice in using shotcrete to build our back deck area, and put a concrete deck reaching out. It was not an easy feat. The before and after picture is insane. If I could give 15 stars I would. I called 4 contractors to bid on the job, and while their number was similar to another company's, I ended up going with Whiteside Construction because I met Dave. Dave Whiteside is the owner and estimates many of the jobs himself, always making sure the job looks perfect at the end and goes smoothly. From start to finish, his foreman was extremely easy to deal with and very accommodating to the needs of my business. It was a challenge doing the seismic work while the business was open but his construction crew did an amazing job and we didn't receive any complaints about the ongoing work. It's hard to find a trustworthy, reliable and upfront contractor. But I'm so glad I found Whiteside Construction team as they were able to complete the project in a timely manner and got everything passed in the city. With no hesitation, I would gladly work with Whiteside for any building's seismic upgrade. I also wanted to make a note that we used them a separate time a year ago for rebar and a different pour as well for residential work. The degree of detail that went into building the forms, the rebar and the pouring and smoothing of the cement was far higher. He and his crew are highly skilled in all aspects of building, but maneuvering that bulldozer into, around and back outside of the house was only bested by how well his crew put together a very complex rebar puzzle that amazed everyone. Dave worked with rebar, forms, and concrete like an artisan. We got plans drawn up for our commercial project, we submitted an estimate request via the website and received an email from the project coordinator that day. The project coordinator helped get our plans to the estimator, who sent us a bid within a week. We received bids from 3 different companies for our project and chose Whiteside because of their awesome leadership team and all of the company's previous experience. The owner Dave was flexible in setting up a meeting to discuss the project. When we met with him, he was very knowledgeable and able to answer all of our questions. You could absolutely tell he was an expert in his field and knew what he was talking about. In comparison to other companies, he was not trying to sell us products or push his agenda whatsoever. He carefully listened to what we wanted and offered us different solutions for each of our needs with the new building. The price was very reasonable for the mass amount of work that we had planned to get done. They responded quickly to my request for an estimate, provided the estimate in a timely manner, and kept in contact concerning the estimate. When I approved the contract, I could tell they were very busy, but they fit the job into my schedule.
