This company did a remodel on a coop I bought in Alameda…read more UPDATE 10/3 Total Works did come out and re-did the floor at not cost to me. Frazier explained that they can only perform the work that the customer or seller or Agent paid for. I understand that part, but as I told him - no one asked me who paid for my floor - All they see is the end result - which was not good. They did not repaint the trim, which i will do myself - I told him that selecting one color to paint everything is fine, but you still need to prep. There were other issues when the redid the floor - the decorative toe kick on the NEW cabinets came out in the middle and instead of glueing it back they wanted to nail it. I asked that it be glued and they did glue it... but Nailed it anyway...they left tools and trash of theirs and took a tote of mine. Which was quickly taken care of. They were nice enough to replace the gold threshold with silver. The floor now looks fabulous - they tore up the vinyl, put new underlayment in the whole kitchen and put down a new piece of vinyl. I appreciate Chase and his follow up! 1. I needed a gas line put in for the dryer and a water line for the fridge. I got an estimate of $1200. I thought that was high so I asked if I could save $400 by going to the city myself to get the permit. Frazier told me he gave me everything I would need to pull a permit for a gas line. I have the letter of approval from the HOA and a drawing of my kitchen showing where the line was going. The very nice people at the permit department in Alameda told me that I needed a drawing showing all the BTUs, etc showing that it was possible to install a gas line, not a drawing showing where it should go. And they told me that a licensed contracter should have known better. I agree. so I got another estimate from Todd Roberts at Roberts Plumbing and he took care of everything for $675. Now I am having a problem with the linoleum floor that was put in the kitchen. It is bubbling and they obviously did not level the floor becuase I can see the outline or a sheet of plywood that is now coming up and will soon come right thru the floor! They painted everything Beige - walls, ceiling, woodwork..everthing. I am certain that the color was at the request of the previous owner, so I repainted the walls and ceiling, but when I started on the trim and doors I noticed that the new paint was peeling off. What company would paint without priming? I asked my HOA and the Realtor how to proceed and they said contact Total Works and have them come out and fix it. I have an email in to Frazier and will update this when and if they contact me. UPDATE 9-2-14 A very nice man named Chase just called in response to my email adn has scheduled a time to come out and make things right.

This is a review and summary of my experience with Total Works Corp contractors Jorge and Bayardo…read morebetween 3/25 and 3/30. I wanted a bit of work done on my condominium, and sent an email with a list of specific items I wanted renovated. They responded by saying they could give me a quote, but that they would need to see the condominium first. This is a given, so I drove out two hours to the condominium in San Francisco to meet with Bayardo. He was a little late, but that is understandable because the parking in the area is atrocious. Bayardo was a really nice guy, and we went through every item that needed to be renovated. I told him that the renovation was time-sensitive, and that I would like a quote ASAP. He took pictures of everything and promised a quote by that night. The next day, I receive an email from Jorge saying that they can't provide a quote because they need to see the place again. So I ask if he can meet that day, and he's unable to. I ask if they can meet over the weekend, but he's busy. So Jorge suggest the following week, and I hesitate because the renovation is extremely time-sensitive with the HOA meeting coming up. He promises to meet on Monday, so I reluctantly agree. Monday morning, I wake up early and drive two hours into the city to meet Jorge. Less than an hour before our meeting time, he texts me to say that he's canceling, and that he won't be working with me. In succinct, Total Works Corp is extremely unreliable and unprofessional. One of the most critical things in contracting work is reliability-you don't want your contractor abandoning a job mid-contract. If you're considering working with Total Works Corp, please be cautious and consider other options.

From panning & design all the way to delivering the final product, it was seamless and we are beyond happy with the outcome! They actually came in on budget and in less time than they originally anticipated. We did run into one issue with the drain and their crew came over on the weekend and fixed the issue. Amazing! Bottom line: I would, without hesitation, recommend BLVD. You will be glad you did!

BLVD came in with a vision and executed it to perfection. We were so happy with our complete kitchen remodel and refresh of the main living space that we brought them back just a few months later for a new bathroom build. We were grateful to have their knowledge and insights each step of the way, which were balanced with hearing our needs and preferences. Both projects were completed on time under tight deadlines and the quality of work was top-notch. The team is great to work with, and they were incredibly courteous around our home -- we miss seeing them every day! We'll absolutely use BLVD for future projects and we can't recommend them enough for anybody considering a home renovation and/or build project.

We were extremely pleased with the workmanship of the cabinets. He and Justin were very easy to work with and had many great ideas in our process. Small details like creating a spice drawer under our cooktop is an example of the extra touch that makes the kitchen complete. We especially love our soft close cabinets and brand new drawers. His painters and cabinet workers were on time, courteous and always cleaned up after the days work. The finish product exceeding our expectations. We would recommend him highly and have already recommended him to several of our friends who are considering any type of remodel. Dave and his crew, shout out to Angel, remodeled our 1966 bathroom with custom made cabinets, new wall texture, new paint and new tile, sinks, fixtures... everything! It looks beautiful. We, believe it or not, enjoyed having the guys here working for a few months. Angel was our main worker and what a professional! He truly knows how to do everything and does it well! After the bathroom was finished, they tore out the tile in our entry way and replaced it with hardwood floors. Then they took out ( ripped out/demolished) our flagstone fireplace surround and replaced that with a marble surround. They did a great job on everything and brought us into the 21st century! I am thinking of another project so I can have them back! I highly recommend Dave Fontan and his crew.

We have used Shawn Lober Construction five times over the past 12 years, and there is a reason we…read morekeep coming back. This review is written after our sixth project, but it applies to every single one of our experiences. Our first project with them was a kitchen remodel, followed over the years by remodeling all three bathrooms, installing a tankless water heater, retiling our living room, replacing closet doors with mirrored wardrobe doors, and installing new window trim. Most recently, SLC completed a major exterior project on our home that included removing and replacing significant areas of stucco, replacing a window, repairing portions of our tile roof, and coordinating the exterior painting. We originally began working with SLC when the company was owned by Shawn Lober. Shawn has since retired, and the company is now owned by Andrey Chosenko and Ted Young, both of whom were already part of SLC when we first became customers more than 12 years ago. It is reassuring to see the same standards and commitment to quality continue under their ownership. Professionalism, outstanding communication, attention to detail, fair and accurate billing, and genuine customer care are the words that best describe our experience. They tell you what they are going to do, and then they do it. There are no unpleasant surprises, and they simply refuse to cut corners. That same level of professionalism extended to everyone involved in our latest project, including SLC employees and their excellent subcontractors. This project included significant work being performed by sub-contractors: Stucco removal & replacement, Spanish tile roof repair, Drywall texture, and Painting (inside and outside). The same level of attention to detail we have come to expect from SLC's employees also applies to the sub-contractors. Andrey paid careful attention and maintained regular communication with each of the subs, keeping us informed every step of the way. After more than a decade and numerous projects, we trust Shawn Lober Construction completely. If we have another project to do on our home, they will be the first people we call. We would hire them again without hesitation.

Shawn Lober is actually my competitor…read more I will say this about Shawn, he's a super stand up guy. Runs a very meticulous construction company and hands down if you have the money to afford Shawn he will build you a home of comfort and luxury that most people cannot comprehend, or fathom. I worked for Shawn many, many moons ago, we did not leave on the best of terms, but I always wish this guy the best of luck. If you know Shawn, he doesn't need much luck because the reality is, he is a gifted person. He will sell high expectations and deliver on those expectations. He is one in a few left in this business, that wants to deliver a high quality product while the average contractor sells you midgrade low end junk from home depot or lowes, or that hole in the wall fabrication shop that gets imports from china. One thing I will always admire about Shawn is that the final result he wants to deliver you in a contract is flawless. It will take me many, many years of experience to reach the level of expectation that Shawn is at, but I will admit that I learned from one of the best in the business. I will take those crafts with me and grow to hopefully become as gifted and crafted in the construction business as Shawn is.

Green sequoia caused a disaster with my backyard. Sad part is that we had great experiences with…read morethem before and chose them because of that. If you are doing an outside project, don't pick green sequoia as this seems to be a trend (see Jonathan's review from July 2019). They kept demo'ing after finding an issue, making it worse, and then they left us hanging for a month until they were finally removed from the job. Overall, Green Sequoia did more harm than good on this. Not sure new management is working out. Full story: Green Sequoia previously did our bathroom and did a great job. Jessie and Victoria also did our closet. Love those two. We saw an opportunity to improve our backyard living space by removing unnecessary planters and retaining walls. We had two quotes and went with Green Sequoia, the more expensive one, because of the previous relationship. They didn't tell us that they didn't have exterior expertise and the person on the job wasn't a normal part of the crew but instead a subcontractor. When construction started, we knew there was a question if a retaining wall was supporting or redundant. As soon as the project started, removing a small part of that wall would have made it quickly clear it was supportive as the wall behind ended 8 inches from the top. That's when they should have stopped. They didn't. They dropped the whole wall and then only contacted me after. This caused increased cost and a safety risk for both me and my neighbor. The same occurred in another part of the property. Oversight of the subcontractor was clearly poor. Construction was halted a week after starting in early June because of these errors. Afterwards, Green Sequoia sat on it for a month without getting me change orders or a clear plan to fix it despite nearly daily questions and pings from me. I gave them an ultimatum on July 6th to have a plan by end of week or I would remove them from the job and seek a refund. Four days later they were off the job. No refund yet despite 5 follow up notes from me - but complaint filed with state license board. This project will cost me $20k more, with less improvements made, because of what it will take to repair their damages. The project was supposed to be 3 weeks. Currently it's looking like 3 months because I've had to remove Green Sequoia from the job and get a new contractor. Issues come up with old properties. When starting our plan I fully expected that there may be some small unexpected cost. My issue with Green Sequoia was the lack of oversight, the recklessness that caused increased damage, and the abandonment of the project. Two stars because through this disaster Kirk was still responsive. While I don't agree with their lack of ownership about their actions, I appreciate that communication lines stayed open and that he visited to do some bracing upon my request.
