    Rest Stop

Yes. It's a rest stop. While the amenities you expect in a rest stop are rather ordinary here,…read moreit's the surroundings that should impress and make this stop stand out. I think it might be the only rest stop on this road between Gardiner (and Yellowstone Park) and Livingston. There are picnic tables that can give weary travelers a chance to take a break. There's even a fire hydrant in the dog "rest stop" so even your furry companion can have some relief. A nice feature of this rest stop is the short walking path that takes you down to the Yellowstone river, which is flowing pretty quickly in this area, and from where you can get a very impressive view of Emigrant Peak. Depending on the time of day, it'll be like existing in the middle of a postcard picture. Even if you don't need the break from driving, stop here anyway just to enjoy the view. And if you're southbound into the park, consider it a preview. If you're northbound from the park, experience it a post-script of what you left behind.

Scenic rest stop in Emigrant MT…read more I know a rest stop is usually not one of those one would review but this Emigrant Rest Area is worth noting. It is the most scenic one I've seen so far. Located on the east side of Highway 89 between Emigrant and Gardiner on the way to or from Yellowstone National Park. The roads are paved and the parking lot is level. The rest stop has clean restrooms and also has sectioned picnic tables in a nice roofed picnic area. They have a pet area too. The views are pretty and is located right along Yellowstone River. Saw some people fishing so you can do some fishing too while you are there! LoL There are slots for RV/trailer and truck parking. Open year round (some rest stops in MT are not). There is a historical marker on sight about the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness which is over a million acres of wilderness in a track of land covering portions of three states. Interesting read. And off we go... Review #2330

The staff were pleasant and reasonably helpful, but maybe not very friendly. The parking is ample and spots are large. There are several entrances so you can find a close place to park not far from your room. The pool is indoor and slightly on the cold side. The pool room also has a small, very hot hot tub. The ice machine on the main (2nd) floor dispenses crushed ice but ran out in the morning, and I watched several patrons skulk away, dejected. I learned about a second machine on the top (3rd) floor than dispenses cubes and still had ice. The hotel is pet friendly with only a $25/pet fee. We had bikes and didn't want to leave them outside in case theft was a concern, and the staff said brining them in our room was fine. Breakfast wasn't meager. A waffle station was pretty good. They also had eggs, bacon, biscuits, etc. Yogurt, muffins, toast, cereal, etc. The dining room was adequate. For the price, the hotel is a bit depressing. At least it was clean and functional.

She wanted my credit card and i asked what for , she replied $50 deposit for incidentals, so i agreed. I requested a room on backside so i could bring dogs in without disturbing anyone and she said rooms are pre-assigned. When i walked to my room i noticed an employee taking pictures of a car in parking lot which I thought was creepy. Today i see a $250 charge on my credit card. i called and was told that was the charge for sneaking in two large dogs. I did not sneak my one lg and one small dog in and am very disgusted with this place plus the sink did not drain well and it was an old worn out small room. My dogs made no mess or made no noise. I could hear doors and showers and other dogs in my room so walls very thin. I took the dogs with me when I left for the evening so we only used room to sleep. Very bad experience! Valeri Backstrom

I could hear and feel everything that went on in this hotel during the night. There seemed to have been no insulation in the walls since I could hear all the neighbor's discussions, showers and televisions. I have hearing problems, so even my tinnitus couldn't compete. There is also a large reveal (gap) around the door, so every time someone shut a door I could hear it and it would shake the bed. Light shone around the door and lit up the room. When someone walked across the floor, my bed would shake. I am a light sleeper, but I don't usually feel people walking across floors. Is this hotel made out of tinker toys? The pillows were cheap, lumpy things. The only food at the breakfast was bread. There are Hilton options nearby we didn't see when we arrived late. Maybe try those. I'm done with Wyndham.
