A nice feature of this rest stop is the short walking path that takes you down to the Yellowstone river, which is flowing pretty quickly in this area, and from where you can get a very impressive view of Emigrant Peak. Depending on the time of day, it'll be like existing in the middle of a postcard picture. Even if you don't need the break from driving, stop here anyway just to enjoy the view. And if you're southbound into the park, consider it a preview. If you're northbound from the park, experience it a post-script of what you left behind.

Located on the east side of Highway 89 between Emigrant and Gardiner on the way to or from Yellowstone National Park. The roads are paved and the parking lot is level. The rest stop has clean restrooms and also has sectioned picnic tables in a nice roofed picnic area. They have a pet area too. The views are pretty and is located right along Yellowstone River. Saw some people fishing so you can do some fishing too while you are there! LoL There are slots for RV/trailer and truck parking. Open year round (some rest stops in MT are not). There is a historical marker on sight about the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness which is over a million acres of wilderness in a track of land covering portions of three states. Interesting read. That was a little slow when everyone was there, but it was fun, especially for the kids. Good tasting hot coffee. A wide-open high-ceiling dining area. The rooms are nice with a small fridge, coffee bar area, a desk that I have used and needed many mornings and nights. The hotel staff is superb. The gym is better than most. Pool and Jacuzzi is always a nice touch. The free breakfast and coffee is always a good touch. I'll be back when I come back for work and for a vacation with my family.
