If you like places that are a bit creepy, but also whimsical and classic, this is the hotel for you! The Murray is usually well out of my price range (often exceeding $300-400/night in the summer), but I found a room with two beds in November for less than $200, so jumped at the chance to stay with them! Our room turned out to be a two bed suite that was obviously two rooms at one point in the past. There was a sitting room with a wet bar and a bedroom with two plush beds and a connecting bathroom. The beds were so comfy! The TV had a steaming device so we could log in with our Netflix account (and there were TVs in both the sitting room and the living room). Overall a lovely room and plenty of space to spread out. Be aware though, that the elevator in this hotel is as old as the building so it requires a staff operator. It's not the most accessible property. One note: The mini fridge in our room made lots of weird popping and clacking noises, so maybe this room was haunted? It definitely felt like it could be!

Staying at the Murray Hotel is a fun throwback experience. Should you find yourself in Livingston, MT, I highly recommend staying at the Murray Hotel!

I like the feel of this small hotel and it is small only 25 rooms but it's like sleeping in the 1800's. The rooms are small and comfortable but they keep the old fashion feel lots of antiques around and local items. The lobby is really comfortable plus there's a bar and cafe next door plus it's walking distance to everything g in town. Lots of celebrities stayed here

I LOVE The Murray! I can guarantee that many people will be disappointed. When you check in, you will notice that they tell you that there is an active train station across the street and live music in the bar on weekends. If you can't handle actual mild night life, the other end of town, by the interstate has chain motels and restaurants. Eat your bad, all inclusive, generic breakfast and head to Yellowstone. The Murray is a real Wild West Hotel. Ask for a room or mini suite on the 3rd or 4th floor at the back. By staying at The Murray, you are in walking distance of a charming downtown, three museums and 60 minutes of Yellowstone. Anthony Bourdain said it was one of his 10 favorite hotels in the world. And if you haven't made your dinner reservations at Campione in Livingston, don't bother, but try to get a seat at the bar at 5pm

Had a lovely stay here on a Saturday night 06/05. We made our reservation 24 hours in advance and got lucky to get a "same day" discount of $100. We ended up only paying $195 including tax. What a deal!!! It's a risk though since we got the last room in the hotel. The hotel is historical and has a cool neon sign. They also have a staff operated old OTIS elevator( over 115 years old). We arrived late at 10:00pm and the staff was very accomodating, we had notified them in advance that we will be checking in late. There is a bar adjacent to the hotel that has an entrance from the hotel. The bar is open till 10:00pm, and closes when all customers leave. We were concerned if there will be noise in our room. However our room was extremely quiet! Will be adding a video of the room with this review. We stayed in room 210. It was at the end of the hallway and was absolutely beautiful! A lot of notable people have stayed in this hotel including Whoopie Goldberg, a famous director, the Queen of Denmark and even the world's tallest man. I highly recommend this place!

This historic Grand Dame of Livingston is an incredible gem. We had a two bedroom suite. The bathroom is not posh, but it is updated and nice. The furniture, the uneven wood floors, the noisy trains, the downstairs honky tonk, the crazy old hand crank elevator operated only by staff, the thread bare lobby! The dark doors with hand painted numbers and transoms. All fantastic. But its about the ghosts of the past, the famous stars, the celebrtiy directors that have stayed here that add a patina to the aura of this place. Its hard to descriobe, but the air here, the fresh clean air still holds the feelings of all the patrons prior. Its almost paranormal, but in a good way. STAY HERE!

The Murray Hotel greets you with a sign over the reception desk that reminds you to check your guns in at the hotel. A little disturbing considering my Boyfriend was trying to take me to a romantic spot on a cross country trip full of Days Inn and Best Westerns. The place is the exact opposite of disturbing The amazing details that go into this place is what it's all about. Each room is owned by a private owner. So essentially they are condo rooms. They have standard size rooms and suites. We stayed in a suite and we loved it. LOVED IT. So clean and so fresh and updated, giving it the Montana western flare without feeling like you stepped into a dude ranch. It's tasteful. I really liked how when we checked in, the Hotel employee gave us a tour of the space, personally took us to our room and gave us history on the hotel and the room itself. Its quirky, its warm and I would go back again and again and again.

Booked this place with an online booking app. Shucks it was the first time we've been disappointed…read more First the rooms have no carpet and that's just fine but my shoes stuck to the floor. So I text the manager and she said she'd come mop our floor. I said we were going to dinner so that was fine. When we got back our room then smelled strongly of vinegar. The beds were comfortable but the decor was very outdated. Except for the sticky floor it was clean.

Stay here, If you can get a room. Unless you like chain hotels, then stay down the road…read more I have been past this place so many times and it always appeared as though a series of small shops rather than a motel. Wow -- what was I doing to make that silly a mistake? The Livingston Inn is a boutique hotel that's been around for years. It's an unusual setup, a long hallway on a single level with a couple of doors to the outside and the rooms on the other side of the hallway. That makes for less noise from neighbors across the hall and allows guests to walk across the hall to the nearest door to get outside and get into their cars. No long walks to find an elevator, dragging your luggage, and then walking past rows of cars to get to yours. It's a style more reminiscent of a motel than a hotel. The rooms are unusual, at least mine was, with the small refrigerator, microwave, sink and coffee maker on one side of the room all on an L-shaped counter and the bed on the opposite side. It felt like a small, efficiency apartment. The bed and pillows were comfortable, the wi-fi worked well. There was a lot of room to walk around in the room without tripping over something. Check in was a little strange, most likely because it is a small family-run hotel, and there isn't always anyone at the desk, even if you have a reservation, so while you wait you can explore the touristy stuff, maybe start a game of chess. The most unusual thing about the check-in, is that there is no key -- you are given a code and instructions on how to punch-in the code on your room door. If you've ever done a vacation rental home, you'll understand the process. No key to lose or misplace. Despite being on a main road, it's quiet here and a good spot to kick off exploration of the area.

Avoid at All Costs - Misleading and Unsafe…read more I booked this hotel through Expedia based on the photos, but the reality was completely different--this place is a total dive. The property is not ADA compliant--I couldn't find a single accessible parking space or wheelchair ramp. When I arrived around 11 PM, there was no one at the front desk to check me in, and the whole place felt sketchy. Once I got in (finally), things only got worse. The air conditioner barely worked, and the property was swarming with ants and bugs. The TV didn't work, possibly due to the remote, but honestly, I didn't feel safe enough to even call down for help. The beds were literally rebuilt using 2x4s, and the overall condition of the room made it clear that maintenance and cleanliness are not a priority here. To make matters worse, I was using a dealer loaner vehicle without a license plate, and the front desk agent yelled at me over it--instead of offering help or understanding, they were rude and aggressive. I checked in at 11 PM and was out by 3:30 AM. The place gave me the heebie-jeebies and felt unsafe. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone--you're better off sleeping in your car. Do yourself a favor and book elsewhere.

I just want to say, I have some pretty well known family that lives in Livingston MT, with a lot of…read morereach and when they hear our experience at this place, they'll help me spread the word and hopefully this place goes out of business. The absolute worst stay ever. We booked 4 days for my daughter's wedding in Livingston MT. The first night it was obvious there was obvious be an issue. 1. The guy behind the counter knew nothing, said he was new but still should have been able to help people before being thrown to the wolves. 2. We tried to take a shower and the water kept getting hotter and hotter and if you tried to turn it down it went instantly cold. Turn it back to warm and it would be find then scald you. So we'd just leave it at a warm setting to start and then step out of the water for 30 seconds every time it got too hot to stand under. If you're showering to long, doesn't matter what you do, it is just molting lava continuously. 3. Asked at the front desk if they knew what the showers are doing or if anyone else has complained and they told me no, no complaints. When I tried to tell them they basically told me I was stupid and didn't know how to work a shower. Then a friend of ours came into town, stayed at the same motel and told us his water did the same thing, on top of that, he had no pressure to even get clean. 4. The ice machine never had ice in it the entire 4 days we were there. 5. They don't clean your room while you're in it and when I asked about clean towels they said leave them outside our door and they would leave us clean ones.Guess what.. none were left. Was told they would clean the room if we requested it, so I did, but was than given every excuse in the book why they can't, short staffed, water concerns, yada yada yada... 6. It's pretty clear people complain a lot to them because when someone comes in to hear a complaint, they are instantly RUDE. Snub you off, give excuses and down right tell you don't know what you're talking about. Don't stay here!!! I wish we could have left but of course there were no other rooms available in all of Livingston, and I knew they wouldn't refund me my money and I couldn't afford to go to an expensive place that might be open. If I couldn't afford give 0 stars I would! I didn't expect a fancy motel, because it's the cheapest motel, but I didn't expect to be treated like a low class citizen or not to be able to take a shower.
