tried to email numerous times. no response. so here goes. It was our third trip to WW Express and we brought another friend with us this time. Everything from start to finish was top notch as with previous visits. We were lucky enough to get Stan as our guide, and he was incredible. Entertaining, very informative, and knew the river like the back of his hand. However, when we got home to purchase some of the pictures, we saw that a) there weren't that many of them b) there were 13 pictures of our assistant guide in the separate single raft! C)Two pictures were just of water. Not very many action shots as I saw of the other groups that day. Pretty disappointing as we really have no decent pictures for souvenirs. Stan was great, but I'm not sure if we would return. Still up in the air for next year. read more

My friend and I used a Living Social deal to go white water rafting last weekend, and I had an absolute BLAST! We called and reserved our rafting time. We received great information from the staff, such as waivers to be filled out, detailed directions to the camp, and that we'd have to pay a small park fee upon arrival. We were happy with their communications with us. The camp is about 2 hours from Atlanta. We arrived on time and hung out around the outpost area until everyone else arrived. They have a patio area which would be great to bring some food with you and have a picnic before your adventure! They debriefed us all on safety equipment and got us all set up with life jackets, helmets, and paddles. They went through a whole safety spiel. I was in charge of making sure the instructor covered everything on the safety checklist, which I really appreciated. I felt like they really covered their bases. The staff was happy to hold car keys and other items (my sunglasses, which I decided last minute should probably stay on solid ground) at the desk for pickup after. We got paired together with river guides, and when we arrived at the river we were taught more about rafting itself, and the commands the guide would give. I loved our guide, Robert. The way he called commands made me feel safe and like he was in control, but he had a great sense of humor and helped us really enjoy the ride. Now down to the serious business-- rafting was SO MUCH FUN!!! I really enjoyed every minute. As a group we decided to flip the raft in some calm waters, which was great fun. We "surfed" quite a bit. We also got "shipwrecked" at times. The wildlife around the river was a fantastic backdrop whenever we had a free second to look. The only disappointment was when we arrived back the photos weren't loading onto the computer. Even still, we felt the prices they were charging for photos was pretty outrageous (I think it was $16.95 or maybe $18.95 for a CD), but may be worth it if you have a large group in one boat to split the cost. Booked a cabin for three nights,paid in full during check in.while checking in the girl who checked me in was absolutely rude for no reason..went to my cabin found out that none of the beds were made,they had dirt on them still and the sink was filled with dishes.The second night of being there we had a bad storm and lost water,I wasn't reimbursed in any way for this.Instead they created more unessesary issues.The company was giving problems to me left and right for no reason when I was nothing but respectful to them despite their behavior towards me.I don't recommend going here whatsoever. read more

The time we spent on the river was great. Our guide Cole really knew what he was doing and a lot about the area - so we had a great time on the water. I would suggest going with him to anyone. However, the rest of the day wasn't so hot. I have never seen anything so disorganized from check-in to getting back to base camp. We had to wait 45 minutes because they were behind, didn't have all the gear we needed and then when we got to the river there were no boats, no guides, and no instructions. We waited around for another 20 minutes in the sun until they finally brought the boats down. I understand things can get backed-up but with better communication and coordination this would not happen and it really put a damper on our entire experience. We arrived back at base camp over an hour later than expected as well. Finally, one of the dumbest things I have ever seen was to make guests get on a bus with their gear, then have them unload again to drop off their gear in another location, and then reload onto the bus. Suggestion is to invest in some vans to transport supplies or bins attached to the back of the bus like other companies have. To sum it up. Great guide and lots of fun....if you don't mind waiting in the sun for over and hour and poor communication. read more

We purchased a living social for this and although we didn't get to do the white water rafting I can't say enough about this place. Beautifully kept grounds...such friendly folks running the place. My husband and I had such a blast. We got to do the horseback riding. It was scary..exciting and fun. Beautiful trails...I had the pleasure of riding Luke. He would not listen to me at all...But our guide helped me the whole way Luke was thirsty and took us a different way than planned...steeper hills and a lot more fun. We loved walking the grounds...so peaceful and beautiful. We can't wait to be back w the whole family in spring. read more

This was our first trip down the upper and immediately followed by a trip down the middle Ocoee. We just can't get enough! We recommend to everyone to try them both on their next trip. The river and the rapids are the same for all the rafters, but what makes all the difference in our experience is that White Water Express has the best staff and the very best guides. The rafting was not only the best part of the trip, but our best rafting experience ever! We've done the French Broad and the Nantahala and the Ocoee made then look like a lazy river. Almost continuous class 4+ rapids for the entire time. Our guide, Stan the Man, was so awesome. Funny, adventurous, and very talented...he knows the river like the back of his hand and handles a raft like Jordan does a basketball. Cabin was cozy and adequately appointed. It's not luxurious by any means, but we found it quaint. Staff was friendly. We had to be a little patient as some activities started a little late, but we were there to relax, not follow a rigid schedule so it want a big deal. We rode horses and the trail was rustic and horses knew it well. Group was a little larger than I would have liked, but nothing that caused an issue. We wouldn't hesitate to return again and would highly recommend rafting with Stan. read more

SUPER FUN but be prepared. We went out of Columbus. The Challenge and Carnage trips are well named. These are not easy floats down the river with a few rough rapids. I went to white water rafting with four friends. It is my first time doing it so I was a little nervous at first. We went through several class 4 rapids and we had so much fun! Celebrated our 35th anniversary at the camp. Our cabin was cute and tidy. We loved our rafting guide, Stan the Man! We are older and over-weight and outta shape and he addressed our needs and apprehension. Prepared us in a way that made a slightly scary activity an absolute delight. We will remember our weekend positively and will plan another trip. The outpost employees were friendly and helpful. We bought shirts and a DVD of our adventure. My friend and I booked a cabin through Living Social for two nights. It was advertised as "You and a companion will spend two nights in a deluxe cabin at Ocoee Camp. While each cabin features a different design, they are all new, fashioned from native logs. Accommodations have kitchens, private bathrooms, beds and flat-screen TVs". We were told to bring coffee, filters and movies and that there would be no wi-fi available in the cabin. The cabin was described as "deluxe" which is subjective but considering it cost twice as much as hotels in the area, we figured it would be nice. Since it appeared that it was going to be nice, we booked an additional night so that we wouldn't have to move our belongings after an active day at the camp. Upon arrival, we were assigned to cabin #22. It was horrible. The place was extremely dirty; had no windows; no AC; there was mold all over the bathroom because they was no ventilation; bed comforter had some nasty stuff on it; we were provided dirty pillows without pillow cases; the vent holes (approx. 24 X 30") at the eaves of the roof where screened and there was no way of closing them (not good with someone with allergies); the coffee pot and TV were not useable; the paper towel, toilet paper and soap dispenser in the bathroom were industrial, like the kind you find in rest stops; other people's hair was found in the sink and shower; the floors had not been sweep or mopped in weeks; there were cobwebs and dirt in the bed, rafter, corners, etc. It was extremely dirty and definitely not deluxe by any stretch of the imagination. The first morning there, we expressed our concerns to the onsite property manager and told him that we would probably be leaving after our rafting trip that day. He asked, if he had the room cleaned, would we reconsider. Upon returning from our rafting trip, the cleanliness of the cabin was much better but there were still the issues that were unfixable (i.e., mold in bathroom, no ac, vents in eaves, etc.). Since we were tired from our day of activity, we decided to stay the second night but told management we were going to forgo the second day of actives and move on. We requested a refund for the additional night. We were instructed to talk to another manger the following morning regarding the refund. We spoke with the second manager the following morning. After some discussion, he told us that he would refund our money for the 3rd night. He gave us his business card and said that he would process it through the main office later that day. A week later, still no refund. Ultimately, we ended up contacting the main office and talking to the owner. He said "he didn't need to deal with this sh--, go to he--" and hang up on us. We tried to call back and were hang up on 3 more times. We are in the process of disputing the charge with our credit card company. Still waiting on the outcome of that. This operation is so shady, I don't understand how they have good reviews. The staff at the camp were wonderful but other than that, this place and owner are the worst I have had ever had to deal with. Stay clear of this operation! read more

I bought a groupon for this experience along with 5 other friends for one of their birthdays, and I think it was phenomenally fun. The main staging area was relaxed, the staff was helpful, and the gear was decent. We were transported to the river by bus, and the trip was smooth all the way through. The best part was the actual rafting itself, as our guide Jethro was very knowledgeable and fun. He knew what he was doing and he made it one for the books. The room was very nice- I'm used to camping in a tent at places like this, so the large comfy bed and kitchenette was a welcomed sight. The front office staff were incredibly nice as well. My husband and I bought our trip on Livingsocial and it was def not what we expected. The cabin they showed on their ad looked like a big cabin with at least two stories but the cabin we ended up staying in was the size of a standard hotel room. It had a full sized bed, no curtains, no coffee maker etc. I emailed them before we left to ask what we needed to bring and they told me breakfast foods and coffee etc and there wasn't even a stove in the room to make anything! We had a mini fridge and a microwave. The cabin was not insulated at all and all they had to heat up the room was a floor heater. Basically we were very dissapointed with the cabin it felt like complete false advertising. The staff however was very nice and helpful. We did our little excursions, white water rafting was a blast. We def did not stay there both nights though. read more

I think these people are a joke. I pay for a raft trip and they will not take us nor tell us why until we have sat there for 3.5 hours and after the river has been turned off. I saw one young person who flew in from Minnesota and this was their birthday present. They said they got there at 12pm for a 2pm trip and were in my group at 4:30pm when we were told we "just were not going to make it on the river today". The one time I asked about the hold up the owner looked at me and said " I am working on it or I can stop working on it" ... I could not believe my ears nor the complete and total incompetence and utter lack of concern. DO NOT GO HERE EVER! read more

I organizer multiple groups with accumulative memership close to 10,000 and host many diverse events in a month. Most business bend over backward, when you bring them 20 or more paying folks to something they would have rarely found. White Water Express on the other hand has proven to be the worst experience in my years of hosting events all across Georgia. This outfitter has a horrid customer service. I've been to many White water rafting companies but decided to make the mistake of jumping on the Living Social deal, and hosting a group of 50. We were told by CAROL that they can accomodate up to 200, but I asked to hold only 60 spot for my group. After everyone paid, the manager JEFF told us that they only have 20 spots for that day and time; and other people need to come another time. After groveling and explaining to them, that this is a group thing and we can't just come another day; they opened more spots. But now they won't answer the calls, or return numerous messages left with CAROL. None of the managers, DIANE, JEFF, or even the president Dan have any time to call their customer that has already paid. Give it a shot, try calling them. CAROL plain out told me, she can't help me, and all she can do is take the name and number to have no-one call back. But she is fine is taking money from more folks for this same day and time slot; for what they are supposedly overbooked already. DO NO WASTE your time and go with a more experienced and reputed outfitter. This is not worth the time, hassle, or the discounted deal. read more

If I told you all of the things wrong with the place you would think I did not enjoy my stay however the opposite is true. I throughly enjoyed my stay and would stay here again. I got a package deal on livingsocial.com for two nights stay and two activities for under $200.00. I had reservations for the fall and due to an ailing family member I had to cancel and rescheduled for the spring. Carole graciously worked with me to reschedule (thank you). Check in is at 3:00 PM. I arrived two hours early and my cabin was not ready. Luckily for me the young lady told me in which "cabin" I would be staying (#13). We decided to have an early dinner while we waited. We drove by the cabin on the way out. The cabin was not a cabin at all but an old style four unit hotel type building that backed up to the mess hall and was bordered by other quad units. The other units were occupied by large families and twenty something year old lovers. When I returned to check in I was told there were no other units available. One of the young men on staff, with a good work ethic, overhead our conversation with the young lady behind the counter. He volunteered to clean and prepare a brand new "real" cabin to accommodate us. Afterwards he refused compensation for his troubles. After settling in to our new cabin, I could hear the yelling and hollering of the obnoxious family all the way across the valley. Thank goodness for the hard work of this one individual. Other noise you will have to deal with is barking dogs who I believe are owned by the staff. On the second day while loading the car a loose dog owned by a guest ran into my cabin. The large dog scared the guest in the cabin next to me and he would not come out of his cabin until the dog left the area. Our first activity was horseback riding. The attendant was helpful and friendly and the horses were compliant. The trail was short and easy and just circles the camp. The second activity was white water rafting in the Ocoee River. We were assigned to "Wildman" who was experienced and cheerful. The raft was brand new. We had a good group and the river was awesome. In summary, we had a great time however there is room for improvement regarding the accommodations and the running of the camp. I would recommend the deal to those who can tolerate the shortfalls. read more

I bought a deal on Living Social and was very excited to take my little sister rafting since we are not from around here and it would be our only chance to go. I called Monday and kept getting a "we are busy" message and then finally just got a proper voicemail, so I left one complete with my return phone number. I called again Tuesday, and again no answer several times and just left another message. Today (Wednesday) I called three more times and finally got a girl on the phone. I nicely said that I would like to use my Living Social and was met with a rude tone and all around unpleasant response. After I was told I couldn't book on the day I wanted the girl tried to hang up like I was wasting her time. My advice is to book with another company that 1) has enough staff to get back to your phone calls or actually answer the phone 2) has experience in GOOD customer service and 3) has respect for the customer since customers are the only thing keeping you in business. There are more than enough companies and rivers to go white water rafting at, this one I would NOT recommend to anyone. read more

I absolutely enjoyed my stay there Nov 2-4, 2012. The staff was super nice from the onset of making our reservations throughout our entire stay...i was a little skeptical because most of the reviews posted we not too good but i'm glad i was able to go and form my own opinion. the cabin was a nice size however the walls were paper thin so you could hear ppl in surrounding cabins as if they were in the next room connected to your cabin. but fortunately our neighbors were never loud at night so we were able to relax without any disturbances. horseback riding was the most terrifying and rewarding experience of my life! Robert helped me throughout the entire experience and i am so happy he was so supportive and encouraging...like i said the staff was awesome and i have no complaints...will definitely recommend! but fyi the town does not sell liquor only beer and wine so bring your own! read more

Had a wonderful time there this weekend. We were a group of 10 ladies, ages 24 to 66. The staff at the Ocoee camp were friendly, accommodated our requests, and quickly addressed the small problems we had in our cabin. A big shout out the young lady behind the front desk who was patient and always smiling. I'm sorry I didn't catch her name. The rafting was wonderful. Robert and Lincoln kept us safe and entertained. And another shout out to Caleb and Hunter, our trail guides, good job guys, you kept 10 very inexperienced riders on their horses and brought us back in one piece! :) read more

I bought and booked my livingsocial in March 2012 and could not use it until this weekend (mid August 2012) which was not featured in the fine print first of all. We used the deal this weekend and were extremely dissatisfied. In our "deluxe cabin" there was no television or wifi which was not mentioned. Also, there were no photo's of the cabins we would be staying in, only a picture of the mountain lodge. Our cabin instead had mosquito netting at the a-frame to roof so you could hear all bugs and people outside, no air conditioning, and no curtains or blinds on the windows for any type of privacy. There were also many bugs inside the cabin. The service at the lodge was also very disorganized and uninviting, good thing they mainly work with kid's camping because otherwise they would be out of business. If this deal had been advertised correctly I would have never bought it, or at least if I were prepared for where I was going maybe I wouldn't be so upset. I asked my boyfriend many times if we were in a bad movie or the show pranked. Also, our bed was broken, it fell to the floor at least 10 times since the board underneath was broken. We are both not large people so it was very annoying. The people next to us had bed bugs and had to be moved to another cabin and then were given an 800 number to call for a refund. I was hoping for a great relaxing weekend and instead we ended up coming home a night early and cut our losses. The whitewater rafting and horseback riding was not bad, but you can do that anywhere....I went to another rafting company on the Ocoee in May and their guides were much better so don't pick this company for that reason.....the horses were okay on our trip but the trip before ours as they were returning we watched the horse take off running and the guy fell off and his body hit a huge metal building.....the guide said don't worry the horse probably got stung by a bee....but everyone on our trip was spooked....our trip went fine though, last about an hour and was a mile long. Unfortunately, I will not be using livingsocial or whitewater express again and will make sure everyone knows about our terrible experience. Went on Father's day after purchasing the living social deal. There were 14 of us and we expected to pull up to a rundown trailer type building with gear stored outside and much to our surprise, we found ourselves at a huge, beautiful wilderness outpost. This outfitter caters to youth groups so it has numerous activites on site, horseback riding, rock climbing, prepared meals...it was quite impressive. I'd suggest getting there a little early to enjoy the scenery out on their back deck. Okay, I'll get to the rafting, but you have to check out this place, and the gift shop...seriously. The guides were quite chatty and we felt completely safe and well equipped. I was surprised at how many rafts were on the river but they all know how to manuver the rafts inspite of any crowds. The phone calls were returned that I made prior to our run and they were all very professional and kind. My only complaint is that this outfitter does more runs than most so they have to bring you down a bit quicker than others. There is a spot where you can get in a float down the river a bit but then it's back in the raft and off to the next set of rapids. I would have liked to have had another 30-40 min. on the water like the other outfits offer. I would definately use White Water Express again. Very positive experience!!! read more
