Chelsea who provided us the quote gave us insightful tips and thing to consider in planning our move. And we can't say enough good things about the crew who moved us. I used White Star Movers today for my move from Clawson to Farmington Hills. For the most part, the only things they needed to move were my furniture, such as my TV and TV cart, couch, mattress and accessories, etc. I'm surprised I didn't leave a review for them in 2016 when I moved from Troy to Clawson, but they did a good job then so I decided to hire them again this year. I did some research and although they are not the cheapest in the area, they are also not the most expensive. Pros: -Tazon (Tazin?) was our team leader today, and he and his moving partner were great. My walls at my old place and the walls at the new place all still look good. They were very efficient, the entire move only took about 2 hours. -White Star is very easy to contact via email or phone, I used both to communicate with them. Cons: -I was told that I could put my preference for an 11:00 a.m. move. On Friday, I was told I had been assigned the 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. slot. I had my mom call to see if we could secure 9:00 a.m. instead, and they agreed... Unfortunately today the moving crew showed up at 8:00 a.m. However, White Star agreed not to charge me for the 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. hour. -Something I didn't know is that the minimum you can reserve is three hours, they call it a 3-hour mini move. So even though the job only took two hours, I was billed for three. I was fine with that because that was the amount I had been quoted, but no one had mentioned it was a "mini move," so I thought that was careless on their part. Tazon/Tazin said that this happens a lot and sometimes he gets pushed back from customers about it, I definitely understood it was not their fault but corporate needs to communicate that with clients such as myself beforehand. -They do take credit cards but there is a 3% fee, so I opted to pay with a check instead. However, because the movers themselves were so great, this is still a four-star review from me instead of a three-star, and I would use White Star again. read more

I went with them because they were not the cheapest but highly recommended. Although the movers were very nice and deserve the job they have, the driver was bullying the other two men and making sure it was know that he was their "boss". My husband and I are pretty laid back in the sense of we know how hard this job is and feel bad standing around watching. it felt as though they took advantage of that energy and got comfortable and behind standing outside more, talking and messing around more, ect. they left half of our basement toys at our old house and then pinned it on us saying my husband and I might need to communicate better with eachother. when I called the next day to let them know I spent 2200 to then spend 9 hours the next day emptying our basement, they got defensive. I think it is important to note this was not in our imagination due to he fact that one mover was in the bathroom for a long time and the other one needed his help and mentioned through the door "what are you doing in there man, fingering yourself?" i do not recommend due to the unprofessionalism, lack of care with leaving behind items and the gaslighting and dismissive energy that occurred when addressing the issues. read more

White Star movers came highly recommended to me by a close friend and my realtor whose clients have consistently had great experiences and customer service. However, I did not have either. On the day we scheduled the estimate, no one came. I had to call and reschedule. There was no apology or even acknowledgement that they made a mistake. Additionally, the amount at the end was much larger than what was quoted. The move itself did not go smoothly. The workers' negligence led to significant damage to my property's gate. The employees opened my fence, went into my backyard and loaded my belongings from the garage into the moving truck. The employees said that my husband should leave and to meet them at our new home. The employees then failed to secure the gate, specifically by placing the cast iron rod into the cement prior to their departure. This is the same rod the workers removed to open the gate. It is not confusing. I returned a little over an hour later to find the left gate completely ripped off from the wooden gate post and the other gate swinging into the neighbors house. The employees were over at the new house and when asked about it, the lead worker simply stated, "I didn't get the gate tutorial." During the course of the move, I heard several times employees dropping boxes and items. I opened a box and discovered my cast iron Dutch oven broken, both the lid and pot. How can this be explained? It is cast iron!! It was double wrapped in bubble wrap, in a sturdy cardboard box clearly marked fragile. The complete lack of care to my property is absolutely astounding. Even worse, when discussing the issue with the company, I was told they would not cover the damage as I was responsible for shutting the gate and they were not responsible for anything not packed by them personally. Indeed, she asked the workers if they had dropped anything and they said no, so that should be sufficient for me. I'm sorry, but why would anyone, specifically individuals reliant on their jobs and livelihood, admit to this mistake? It would not surprise me, that these specific workers I encountered who could not care less about my things, one of whom who had their very first day, would admit to this mistake. I was never instructed that we were responsible for closing the gate, in fact, we were told to leave the property altogether by the movers and meet them at the new home. Why could they not take this very simple step, of engaging the rod, a feature common in fences across the United States and known by any person to be necessary to secure a fence properly? We spent much time going around in circles with company representatives for them to offer, graciously, to cover the costs of half of these expenses even though they are "not obligated to." How gracious indeed! I am an adult. I am reasonable. But this is wrong. You are making the choice to trust this company with your things. This is a stressful time. I urge anyone considering this company to seek assistance elsewhere. read more

I noticed the moving blankets were not neatly laid out and were bunched up and easy or trip over. How is that possible when they showed up with a 26 ft. box truck to load us and when they arrived at our new home our stuff was on a semi with 2 or 3 or 10 other families. Jordan and Anthony delivered 2 of our boxes to GA. When the lady said " hey, that's not my stuff" they told her to keep it or throw it away. How much of my missing stuff went to other people or they themselves just threw it away. The lady from GA contacted me a few days after they mishandled her move. We moved ourselves from Chicagoland to Lake Orion in November, but wanted movers to unpack our truck and just carry our stuff up to a two-story apartment; Stan and Steve were phenomenal! Not only did they do a professional job unpacking our truck, carefully navigating a tight entryway, they were kind enough to make sure the labeled boxes went into the correct rooms! They even checked in with us before they left, to see if we decided we'd like the furniture in a different spot, or anything moved around before they left. The contact started with Premier Relocations doing the quote & White Star Movers were the transit agent assigned to move our goods. They loaded the truck on April 28, 2025. They were very quick, efficient, and polite. We were moving very little furniture and mainly it was boxes and totes. There was an itemized inventory of all boxes and indicated where they were from. After the truck was gone it was discovered they never went into the basement to get the totes and boxes. When White Star was contacted, they claimed they did a walk through before and after loading the truck - NO walk throughs were done with me. If they had gone into the basement they could not have missed the boxes. They denied any responsibility and refused to do anything. It was only because S. Palmer, Assistant General Manager of Premier Relocations stepped in and had another mover deliver them to me, that saved the day. Do not use White Star Movers PERIOD !!! They moved my belongings from Flint Michigan to Hinesville Georgia nothing was broken or damaged before leaving my house, but the shocker was when Jordan and a different guy came to my new house in Hinesville he brought in 2 boxes and a big red rug I Immediately told him that those boxes we're not mine He started arguing with me telling me that they came from my basement and I told him no, they did not. I know what was in my basement. And those boxes did not come from my house. I told him to take them back to the truck. He told me TO KEEP THEM I told NO WAY AM I KEEPING SOMEONE ELSE'S THINGS. He left the boxes on the side of my house SERIOUSLY. As Jordan and this other guy were bringing in boxes were damaged, boxes were missing. They were throwing boxes in one of my bedrooms. One of the boxes was wet and so were my clothes. Jordan left items in my garage and deliberately set my mattress frame upside down also he lost the key to tall jewelry box. I was charged 4243.08 which is ridiculous they did not take my living room furniture or my dining room furniture so where did the 6,000 lbs come from when my things were on the truck with someone else's things. Used White Star in Feb 23 for a LARGE household move-in. They moving men were exhausted at the end of the day and just stopped honoring the "room" designations on the boxes. Many boxes ended up in the basement storage area in a mountain. I am disabled. I can't climb steps. And I can't get the boxes upstairs. When I asked the company in writing to send a guy back out to get those mislaid boxes back up, they said only if I paid their guys the going rate and there would 'have' to be a team of two. They only offered to waive their required destination (travel) charge. They also did not provide the proof I requested that their guys were actually 'given' the tip that I provided when I paid my bill on my credit card. The guys gave me reason to believe that this is an issue with White Star workers. Also most of the workers were "pick-up help" rather than professional movers. Only the crew leader was experienced and professional. The others required constant direction from him. They also lifted and held my refrigerator on it's back to get it into the kitchen, rather than remove the doors to clear the counter. A big no-no with refrigerators. They dropped it coming down, and put a good 3" goudge in the kitchen hardwood floor. When I raised these issues with management, I only requested remedy on the the misplaced boxes, and proof that the tip was paid out by the company to the workers. No proof was offered. It took me TWO letters over five weeks and the threat of a bad review to even get a return call. And the customer service person who called tried to worm out of responsibility with these excuses: "You signed off on the walk through saying everything was okay." (Of course I did. The crew was EXHAUSTED and wanted to go home. I wasn't going to hold them up while I looked through over 300 boxes and items they'd moved.) And they told me too much time had passed between my move and my bringing the problems to their attention. (How does that change anything? It was only after going many months scratching my head wondering why I couldn't find this or that or the other, before I discovered the problem.) I told the rep that a company should never try to beg off on a customer's legitimate complaint. She said, "Well, this is all I can do. Sorry." and the call ended. I can sum up my experience in one word: Unprofessional. read more

Beware!! We have no choice but to label White Star Movers as a bait and switch operation and Eric Czygan as dishonest. They made what should have been an easy move into an absolute nightmare. Eric Czygan was at our place, reviewed our belongings ( many of which we took over ourselves), gave us an estimate, and a date for the move. On the day of our move three young men showed up with a truck that probably should've been sufficient but within an hour they told us the truck was too small and that they needed another truck and another person. We were their mercy. One of the young men even told us that White Star does this often. The move continued for many more hours than was necessary, some of our furniture was damaged, and we ended up tipping these young man after feeding them two different meals, quite a bit of money because we felt sorry for them at almost midnight. We contacted WhiteStar as soon as possible and of course, despite many attempts and contacts they have never had the courtesy or professionalism to respond. Our bill ended up over $2000 more than was originally estimated. ( They required our credit card # the day before!) We want to warn anyone who is going to use white star, beware! read more

The guys are super nice when they arrive, but they don't do an awesome job packing or labeling your belongings correctly. We just arrived at our new location and have begun to unpack all of the boxes. To our surprise, some of our most prized possessions are damaged / broken. It's never easy moving. Well, if I could give zero stars I would. On July 9, Eric Czygan the regional manager came to my current home to give me a quote for a move date of August 11. My quote was for $1,186.70. Prior to giving me that quote he walked through my house one bedroom at a time and calculated the weight and time it would spend on our move. He boasted about his staff and how they went down to half the size of their staff since COVID because the others wanted to collect unemployment. He said the staff they have are the best of the best who are well-paid with a 401k at the company, making them reliable and great to work with. After we went through room by room including the garage and basement, we sat at my kitchen table where he told me that he had August 11 available. At the end of the conversation, I said I wasn't going to beat around the bush and I wanted to book them right now. He told me I didn't need a down payment, everything was set for August 11, 2021 and I should call him one week before the move (Aug 4) to update him with any changes. On August 4 I called him at the number he gave me, (586) 873-3888- I left a detailed VM, no call back. On August 5 I called the same phone number- left a detailed VM, no call back. I immediately called 586-977-0400 and explained the situation that Eric was no responding and I needed to confirm my move. They told me that they couldn't find my name anywhere on their calendar. They said they would leave a message for Eric but the earliest move date they had was August 31- I told them I was turning the keys over on Aug 12 so that wouldn't work. About an hour went by and Eric still hasn't called. I called their main phone number again and spoke with the same girl- I told her I was freaking out and she said Eric would call me and that he was in an appointment or meeting. About 15 minutes later I called and spoke to another girl. Same thing, Eric still isn't available and he would call me. It's now August 6 and still no return call. The girls at the office had zero empathy or compassion- they said they weren't sure what the conversation was between Eric and I and talking to him wasn't going to get me a moving date. Are you serious?! I looked back at my quote and the dates keep changing- on it, it must be a live document where you can make modifications because the prepared date said Aug 5 yesterday and now it says Aug 6- my move date said Aug 2- I asked the girls if my move date was August 2, why didn't anyone come to my house on August 2. I booked over a month in advance to only have this reputable company ghost me. I am sick to my stomach knowing that we don't have movers for our move less than a week away. I would never book with White Star again- they had great reviews but totally screwed me and my family over. read more

I deleted my five star review from 2016 because things clearly have changed and I don't want to mislead people. I contacted White Star last week regarding a quote. They scheduled Eric for a walkthrough at 11:30am on Friday last week. I cleared my schedule so I could be home that day. Eric called me at 10:20am the day of our scheduled meeting and left a voicemail that he had to "reschedule". When I finally managed to get him on the phone at 11:25am, he told me that he had no plans whatsoever to drive to Ann Arbor for a quote because its a long drive, which is something that would have been good to know more than 5 minutes before our meeting. He then tried to give me a quote while driving (!), which I found irresponsible for numerous reasons. I asked him if we could do a video walkthrough instead so we could get an accurate quote. He agreed and promised to call on Saturday to schedule the walkthrough. Unsurprisingly, he never called. Given the long list of red flags here I decided to work with another company. read more

when we decided to move from Michigan to Alabama our first concern was obviously the move itself. We first contacted Eric at Mayflower/white star movers and he quickly set us up with an estimate....from there on the process couldnt have been simpler. we were assigned a move coordinator, Megan, who kept us updated on schedules etc....the movers, Jon, Leo, and josh showed up when they told us they'd be there, they were courteous, polite and friendly. But most of all they were the hardest working guys. They loaded the truck and did an excellent job . They made sure that everything was marked correctly and placed in the truck in the order we wanted....Great group of guys and we couldnt have been happier...within a week our load was delivered to Alabama by Mike and Everett, they were also great....they worked tirelessly despite the near 90 degree temps and us being located on the second floor....they never complained and remained happy and upbeat during the entire move....Every box and piece of furniture was placed where we had requested and they were done in less than 4 hours...I would never hesitate to recommend this company to anyone for their move....we had an experience about 19 years ago with another company I prefer not to name, all I'll say is that, I'll never try to save money on a move again, the two men who moved us then were a disaster, I moved more boxes than the two of them did... I hired White Star/MayFlower movers for my relocation from Michigan to Arizona and found them to be very professional, prompt and willing to go above and beyond my expectations. I selected a pickup date and they confirmed saying they would be there at 8am. At 8am they were there and ready to start loading. They stated they would have my stuff in Arizona in 5 to 10 days and arrived on the 6th day, They kept me updated as to their location and expected arrival. Called the day prior and said they would be at my door at again 8am for unloading. 8am they were there and unloaded even asking where in rooms I wanted things setup and against what wall etc.. 11:00am they were complete and on their way. WHITE STAR MOVERS NIGHTMARE! About $2,000 of Damage. White Star/Mayflower moved my 88-year-old mother from Novi Michigan to an assisted living facility near my home in Southport North Carolina. The truck was scheduled to arrive Friday June 3. On Friday they did not know where the truck was. On Monday I was told it arrived at the Wilmington NC agent "with significant damage". The truck arrived at my home on Wednesday the 8th. The furniture for my mother's new resident was unusable. There were family heirlooms that are 60 to 90 years old with legs broken off, scratched and gouged. Most cartons were crushed. We had to scramble to find other furniture for my mother to use. It is unknown if the pieces can be repaired. They cannot be replaced! My garage is currently full with broken furniture and crushed boxes, while we wait for the insurance adjuster. I was told to contact Mayflower for a 5-day delay claim. I told Mayflower and White Star, my mother's furniture is not delayed 5 days. The move is not complete until her furniture is repaired and delivered to her. I raised the issue with White Star. Mark White, the Owner of White Star Movers, response was: "Headquarters is giving you the 5 day delay claim for it arriving late and Penny in claims is handling the damages." The move is over. White Star did their job, but does not care about how the job was done. Mark White has passed it off to Mayflower claims and wiped his hands of it. Thanks for the great customer service Mr. White. Let me start by saying that we have been pleased with the service so far until this past weekend (08/22/2020). Let's start from the beginning. They got their promptly on time!!! When I first saw the truck pulling in I already knew that the truck was too small. Anyway , they start doing the job everything was fine until I noticed that they were not wrapping the couch or the pillow couch. So I had to ask them if they could wrap the couch as they have done in the past. His response was " well it will take more time" and I said that's fine. We throughout the loading our couch stayed outside in the sun the whole time like approximately 4 hours. I was not pleased with it at all. Then they noticed us about the truck not having enough space to load everything which honestly is not their fault. We had notified the size of the house(1500sq ft) and amount of furniture we had. We continue into a conversation about possibly making two trips. I'm my opinion this was unacceptable because time=money. So, we decided to put my pickup truck to use and haul the remaining lawn equipment and well as the pictures that would not fit into the truck. Ok so they arrived with the truck to our new place. When I noticed they were leaving marks on the newly painted walls. I politely asked them if they could use more caution or maybe wash their hands. Well my response was " Man is not my hands is my body I'm sweating all over there is nothing I can do about it" not a professional response at all. Then I also noticed that they started rushing to get things done quickly. They left a little whole on the wall trying to fit the furniture in. While I was cleaning the couch because again they were market from the sweat , I heard the lead mover cursing in the other room. Well my husband had left for a few minutes , again I asked the lead mover if everything was ok and he said yes is fine. So I left the room and a few minutes later I heard the lead mover again cursing and yelling at himself and the furniture" maybe anger issues was going on" so I texted my husband to hurry up home because I was not comfortable being there by myself. Again the lead mover seemed to be frustrated assembling the furniture plus trying to hurry up things to get out of there. Anyway, we will be looking for a different company next time. White star was supposed to be a Christian company and that was not a good example. read more

Top notch service! White Star did an incredible job on my local move this week. Will W and Dominic were professional, fast and careful. They never wasted a moment and were extremely courteous. Everything about the move went perfectly - on time, minimum hours, zero damage, everything placed where it belonged, protection for the hardwood floors. They even rearranged furniture placed when I realized it would not fit as originally thought. Highly recommend them. The move was on our 90 degree plus extremely humid day in September and the concern from the guys was that they were dripping sweat on boxes - too kind and demonstrated the level of care. I had previous experience with White Star back in 2010 when I moved to Germany. They were the local departure company (packing and outbound shipping). They did a fantastic job back then, which is why I used them again. They had to pack everything and load it into a half shipping container - not a single item was damaged for an overseas move. Based on that, I had White Star do a full service move for my mother in 2013 - packing and moving. She had nothing but great things to say about the service and care. Could I give 7 or 8 stars? WOW. Such a professional job.the 3 man crew that moved us,lead by mike were incredible.had not moved in a long time. All 3 guys treated everything they moved like it was their own. They really hustled even though they were being paid by the hour. Only company that I called that would send someone out to the house before the move to give an estimate.the final bill came in about $300 under the quote. Made a very stressful day much easier. Wonderful experience with White Star Movers! Very professional movers who took great care of all my possessions and got it safely from Detroit to Vegas without so much as a scratch. My mover, Tom, was awesome and kept me informed of where he was at on the road and when he expected to be in town. Everything went flawlessly which is rare for a cross country move. We used White Star for a local move after many suggestions to give them a call! Best money you can spend when moving! We only needed them to move the big stuff. Beds, couches, dressers, desks... When i called and got a quote, the 3 hours minimum was $185 less than slither company i called ( travel and fuel charges included)!!! The 2 movers arrived on time, were very nice, and did not waste ANY time! They were very careful with our belongings. The time quote they gave me was also spot on , so i wasn't shocked with how long it took. I will refer them anyone looking to move!!! read more

The crew did a nice job. The low rating (which would be a zero star rating if possible) is because of the outrageous fees charged by the company AND because of the shady business tactics used. I would never have agreed to pay upwards of $2,000 for a 5 mile move. It was a small 3-bedroom house, all the packing was done prior to the movers showing up, no appliances had to be moved. It took a couple of hours. We aren't talking a full day of hard labor at a country estate. Ridiculous. No, I would not recommend White Star Movers. read more
