James and Kent did an excellent job in moving my heavy wood furniture on May 11, 2026. This is the second time in months that I have used GPMS. The two men showed up on time. Absolutely horrible, over priced, unethical moving and storage company. I had them move my home gym ‍to storage. I kept hearing beads in the basement thinking it was the pulley equipment being taken apart but when I went to do laundry my entire bottle of laundry beads were gone and they left the bottle in the trash! When I told Kyle-employee, he said "my guys don't even do laundry". The nerve. They listed almost all my inventory as "gym equipment ". No specifics. I had to keep my gym in storage for a year and was given an estimate of $448 to deliver. I paid $100 deposit. They took 28 minutes to drop off and then tried to collect an additional $553 dollars!! I pulled up the email estimate and had them adjust it. Then I discovered they didn't drop off the plug for my treadmill and when I called Kyle tried to give me the run around or some JettI mind trick to skip responsibility. Before they picked up the equipment I was told the equipment had to be taken apart before they could pick up and store. I did not unplug the treadmill. So then he tried to say his people didn't unplug or store it. Make it make sense: Why in the world would I lie about a missing plug out of all the expensive equipent I had stored? He was condesending, sarcastic and he owes me a treadmill plug!! Avoid this company !!! Absolutely horrible experience start to finis!! read more

I cannot be any happier with a moving company. I contacted six different companies and they were the only ones that got back to me. From beginning to end, I was impresses with their professionalism and efficiency. I've moved many times in my life and this was by far my best experience. The estimate was accurate, the crew was friendly, extremely knowledgeable of furniture and what they were truly capable of and my items did not get damaged. While moving my refrigerator, the movers damaged my stair rail and tried to hide the damage by duct taping the rail together. To add insult to injury, I was charged an extra 15 minutes over the minimum hour rate. I guess I paid for the time it took to try to cover the damage. In the end they repaired the railing but offered no discount for the inconvenience. I will never use them again. read more

I called and spoke with Jerry and got a quote to move a dinning room set, he quoted $275.00. at the end of the move I received a bill for $408 instead of $275. Not at all happy with the nearly 50% increase in the bill. If I quoted a price to one of my clients and the raised the price nearly 50% I wouldn't have any clients. Will not recommend or refer. I contacted Grosse Pointe Moving & Storage to move some very big and heavy furniture pieces from one floor to another in side my tri-level home' and to prepare other pieces for to be shipped out of state. Before contacting them I thought the request was unusual, but to my surprise it was a service they offered. The office staff that took the specification about my in-home move was extremely helpful. I recently moved to Detroit from New York City and had these guys referred to me by a local friend. As far as movers go, they were great. Most important to me is a crew that is available when I need them, on time, professional (I've had some bad NY experiences), are careful with my belongings, and are reasonably priced. I have actually never given a bad review but I genuinely feel screwed by this company. I was told $165 an hour for 3 guys because they will get it done much quicker than the 2 guys, they did not, they worked slower than 2 guys and I've had quite a few moving company before the one I typically used was unavailable. Everyone that was helping us moved ask me why are they moving so slow, there were no boxes to move, they were moving a 1000 sq ft home furniture only, and only moving to the street behind us. While 2 carried something the other person sat around and waited, I never had all 3 working at 1 time. Later I went back to my old house and say tons of things that were left in the basement that I told them to get everything from. I received a bill after the end of the unnecessary long move for $990 when we were expected to be in the $600s. That would be the case had they not taken their time. They threw furniture into rooms some sticking out of doorways. I am 9 months pregnant and can not help My husband move the pieces of furniture into the correct places, that's what the movers were for. All that money and we end up with damage walls, and an unfinished job. While moving the sectional out they damaged my doorway, did not say anything about it as I watched them do it. Secondly they took apart my daughters crib and put it together which I did NOT ask nor want them to do, damage on that. read more

We used Grosse Pointe Moving for our move that entailed moving from our home of 32+ years. The move was even more challenging as part of the move had articles going to our home in Florida and the rest to our new home on the east side. The service was spectacular!!! It started with our first meeting with their representative, through their help in pack to the day of the move. OUTSTANDING company and service. The person, Kim, who performed ALL of five days of packing with Tina were lifesavers!! They were here for as long as it took and they treated every item as if it were their own! They even brought us a homemade shepherd's pie for lunch one day!! The staff who actual moved the 70+ boxes and furniture's were extremely respectful and soo nice. Everyone wore masks and were extremely covid-19 conscience. It made packing and moving actually stress free.....even when you have 32+ years of stuff to sort and move to two locations, one being 1,800 miles away! Great service . Taylor was great on the phone and got me a quote quickly as this was a short arranged move time wise for my mom. They were on time and brought 2 men for what we needed moved. They were professional and got things loaded quick. The only dissapointing thing was that the final bill was several hundred more than the quote. Part of that maybe an under estimating the time needed and challanges at the independant living with where they could park in relation to the entrance. But as I said it was last minute and talking to Taylor on the phone gave me a peace of mind. read more

Nice guys. I tipped them all very well, but interestingly enough some of my favorite vinyl albums disappeared on my move. At least tote or two, along with my flute I had since 4th grade. I just thought it was interesting how long they sat at the dock where I moved from. You think you can trust people, but It's my fault I left them alone with my stuff. Awful. Just plain awful. My uncle had a recent stroke and we were looking for a company to move his furniture from his high rise apartment to a storage facility. Our appointment was at 1:00 and we arrived to the apartment at 12:57 and greeted the security guard at the door. My mother asked security if anyone has arrived yet from the moving company and he said no one had been there. Security has to grant access into the building. We waited inside the apartment until 1:24 and I told my mom to call the company. The woman who answered the phone was so very rude, unprofessional and short with my mom, who is a senior citizen. She told us that her mover had been there and left and said there would be no reason for him to lie. The mover got on the phone and said he arrived at 12:55 and called up to the apartment three times and left at 1:00. First of all, there is no phone in the apartment and he certainly did not call out cell phone and secondly he left at 1:00 pm, the appointment time. All the while, we're sitting in the apartment waiting for him to show up. He hung up on my mother. We have never been treated so unprofessionally and with so much disrespect. I highly advise NOT using this company for any moving services since they don't know how to treat their customers. read more

The morning that we were moving the movers arrived two hours early. However, they were both very nice and got to work quickly even though we weren't totally ready for them. They were so efficient and loaded our entire house in just a few hours. We expected to a lot to do after they left but they did much more then we expected. So, momentarily we were more than pleased. However, when we arrived at our new house that quickly went away. I purchased 15 oversized moving blankets that I provided to them and they weren't used. Our solid wood entertainment center and the desks for our home offices are completely ruined and the finish is taken off the top of each of them. We called to resolve this with the company and we're treated so poorly by the owner. He claimed we have no proof that it was their pack job and that it wasn't his problem. He was so rude to both myself and my husband. We now have two year old furniture that is ruined and no means to replace it. I was very disappointed in the way this situation was handled and would have hoped they would help replace the damaged furniture. read more
