Sunset ride
Joshua W.

I went to this horse ranch for a sunset ride. I brought an apple to feed one of the horses, but I ended up feeding it to one of the goats instead because there are also other animals on the ranch. All of the staff were so incredible and helpful. During the ride, we had some friendly conversation and dropping some knowledge as well. I would 100% go back here to ride during the sunset again or just regularly during the day. All the horses were so pretty and I saw a little pigs and goats as well. They even have a big steer on the ranch too. We definitely go back here, even just to say hi to the animals.

~TEAM PENNING TEAM BUILDING EVENT ONLY~ I was in town for a work event and part of that work event was a team building excursion to White Stallion Ranch. The invitation said enjoy team penning and I thought, sure, whatever that is. Over to google I go. I haven't been on a horse since 4-H camp... maybe in 4th grade. But YOLO, right? Since then I have also developed a fear of heights and some mild anxiety, but let's get on a 900 lb majestic animal to get over some of those irrational fears. I did feel better when most of the people joining me were also of minimal horse experience. Arrived in the morning for our event. We filled out a form so the team at White Stallion could best match us with a safe horse. I scored a beauty, his name is Bison. Got a little background on Bison and was then lead to the platform to easily get into the saddle. Got a quick tutorial and then once all of our riders were mounted, we got another tutorial. My aniexty subsided pretty quick, Bison was a badass needing minimal direction. The team at White Stallion were patient and informational, all of the ranchers were quick to help with pointers to get our horses going the correct way. We went through 3 rounds of penning and had a fabulous time. We were able to take pictures along the way. Once we were getting good and starting to move, we had completed our tasks and it was time to wrap up. The ranchers helped us off our horse and shared we could go to the bar to cool down or hang out (we had a second group that was going through penning after we were done.) There was so much to see at the Ranch, I would have loved to spend the night here. We loved our time on the horses. All horses and ranchers were safe and there were no issues. We bellied up to the honor bar, many choices on drink offerings. Beer, soda, juice, champs, wine, freshly made margaritas and if you were feeling good, a full panty of hard liquor. You filled out the little note pad with what you drank and paid at the front counter. Cute decor, lots of activities if you chose to stay inside. Puzzles, chess, game boards... There is a pool and also a gym. I missed visiting the gift shop, but heard it had a lot of fun stuff. I only got to see a fraction of what the Ranch has to offer, but I have already looked at booking a longer adventure here.

Enjoying the desert scape.

Our family (10 people) were at White Stallion over Christmas. The ranch and accommodations were western themed and very comfortable. Walking the grounds acquainted tou with desert scaping in a good way. They had a flora and fauna tour to intro you to different variety of vegetation. The food was good, healthy and plentiful. Breakfast could be continental, buffet, or by order. The pastries and desserts were amazing. There was a long list of activities to partake in. You could be as active or sedentary as you would choose to be. Staff was outstanding. They were very accommodating to requests be they diet or activity related, or answering questions. Smiling faces everywhere and a can do attitude. Dining was offered both indoors and out. We took advantage of both. My grandkids already want to know when we could come back. The horses were a hit, as was the shooting practice. Crafts were available, as were games and a library. Oh did I mention snacks during cocktail hour? Yum. Bar was honor system and reasonable prices. Wine was available by glass or by bottle. Lemonade, tea and water were always available. Town was close if you preferred items not stocked. For me the best part was time with family and spending quality time having fun. Electronics were not seen much as they were busy tackling new skills and being with your cousins at White Stallion....priceless.

I have hardly any words. I am absolutely blown about by this ranch. This is an all inclusive resort. I've never been somewhere more that felt like being with a family. The staff are so friendly and genuine. Everyone was smiling, laughing and having a great time. The food was amazing! They have so many options to choose from and the desserts were delicious! There are so many fun activities on the ranch. You have archery, horseback riding, play pool, a basketball court, a pool, spa and hot tub, a petting zoo and more. There are horses that you can feed treats and just hang out with. The scenery around the ranch is beautiful. The ground are well maintained, the rooms are absolutely adorable. They look like old western cabins. I can't recommend this place enough. I will definitely be back someday

10/10 Best place we have ever stayed. My boyfriend and I felt so free and relaxed. The resort itself is beautiful and the attention to detail is amazing. The staff is WONDERFUL, so helpful and accommodating. The room is so cozy and private, we were right next to the horses and hearing them in the morning is magical. We had the pool and jacuzzi to ourselves during the late hours and even got to hang out in there cute vintage style game room. Again, 10/10 would recommend even for not so western people like us this place will have you at peace and feeling so free.

This place is amazing! Went back for our second trip this week and I'll be back again! They have great amenities, the meals are awesome, extra activities outside of riding and multiple different type of riding activities. The wranglers and people working here are also amazing and blast to be around. I miss it already!!

Pigs

Awesome experience! Dwayne and the others were very hospitable and made the trip a good time. We encountered a rattlesnake on the way back to the stables, as one does in the desert, and the horses responded amazing. I was able to lead Gunsmoke around the area where the snake was to avoid him being spooked as well. Horses very well trained and easy going. As someone who has never ridden a horse before, I felt very comfortable and confident the whole time!

What a great place to vacation! I never saw myself going to a dude ranch but I am so glad I agreed to go on this adventure. It is such a well run ranch. Every employee was top notch, completely sweet and knowledgeable. I learned new skills and enjoyed different activities in the desert on horseback rides. One of my favorite vacations. My only criticism is room cleanliness. The beds need to be pulled out and cleaned all around, under the sink and mirrors need dusting. We spent the week with a cob web that had a dead fly in it. We named him Fred. Despite that, we had an absolutely amazing time and would definitely do it again. The horses we so sweet. I hated to leave them.

The tree that brings all the birds to the yard

Loved this place! This was my first experience at a Dude Ranch. We had airport pick up and drop off service. The rooms are very comfortable and beautifully decorated. The scenery is beautiful and I got to see rabbits and different types of colorful birds ... as well as a small kings snake. All pretty cool. They have a cactus tree in front of the dining hall that attracts different types of birds. From my bedroom window I caught sight of humming birds and rabbits playing. The best and most important part... their horses are in great shape and their food is outstanding. I happily put on 2 lbs at the ranch (I needed them). I ate more than I needed to, but I could not resist. The service is incredible. Everyone is very nice. They have shows in the evenings and other fun activities like rock climbing, e-bikes, archery, leather workshop and horse show decorating. Spa, pool, and free treats for horses. I didn't care for the cattle sorting and penning, but I enjoyed the scenic and the fast rides. My only observation (not complaint) I feel there's always room for improvement, is that some of the activities I wanted to do (they have quite a variety but some didn't appeal to me) had conflicting times. So I found myself doing 1 or 2 activities per day... so the days went by sloooow for me. And seeing I had a lot of free time in my hands, decided to return home earlier. Some activities are good once, also with archery and cattle sorting, I didn't like waiting in line for my turn in a big group of people. That made it drag a little also. So I decided to just go on as many rides as possible since rising was my primary interest.

The review is just for dinner... we live locally and went for the evening ! Had a great time! We got there a few minutes before cocktail hour so we could relax and enjoy a drink on the patio. There were people from England, Germany and France that we encountered ! The hosts are extremely friendly and explained to us how things worked. After cocktail hour we went toward the outside BBQ area and got in line to choose our meals. There was corn on the cob, salads, baked beans, bread, string beans, two seafoods, chicken and ribs! The only miss was the chicken which was like eating shoe leather. Dinner in the patio was fabulous, as it was a comfortable October evening! After dinner there was entertainment by a cowboy using his guns, ropes and whip. He was very good !

My favorite event was the Art walk in April 2026. I appreciate that the food trucks they invite to be on premises have vegetarian and vegan options. Can't wait for the next event here!

What a hidden little gem in Tucson. There are a lot of retro hotels being renovated around Arizona…read morethese days, and having stayed at multiple ones, I can say Hotel McCoy is doing it really well. I love that it is a single-story motel, meaning you don't have to listen to the neighbors walking above you all night. Also, they have gone out of their way to make things kitschy, artsy, and cool. There is art everywhere, including fun little treats like chalk and chalkboards in the room. The rooms are functional but not fancy. There isn't carpet (a benefit in my opinion), the shower is small, but has excellent pressure. I will say the beds are incredibly comfortable. Everything was clean. We had a small (retro-style of course) fridge in the room. And even though there was just a window unit, our room maintained a comfortable temperature. (Although it wasn't that hot. I am not sure how it would be in the summer.) I do love that they only have keypads, no actual keys, which made it really convenient to go in and out. There is also a little bistro set by the front door, which is delightful for sipping coffee (or eating your free oatmeal) in the morning. The common areas are fun, decorated with a lot of cool art and old school kitsch. The pool is heated saltwater, which is good for the cooler months, but kind of a bummer in the hotter months (aka most of the year) because it was only April but the pool felt like bathwater. You can't bring your own drinks to the pool area, but they have a lot of drinks for sale in the lobby (beer, wine, cider, no hard liquor), and the prices are quite reasonable. And the oatmeal bar in the morning is tons of fun. Service is slightly hit or miss. Some of the employees were amazing (shout out to Alex!), but some kind of felt like they were going through the motions. All in all, this is a good value motel, and I would stay there again.

There really isn't a lot in the immediate area of much interest; most of the best that Tucson has to offer is in the greater metro area, not the downtown core. But it is nice that they offer ample parking just steps from your room at no extra charge. The building looks nice from the outside, with its retro mod style and landscaped courtyard. The bar has very limited hours in the summer, but does have a nice drink menu and makes a good spot to hang out. The room was a bit sparse in my opinion. I was under the impression from the website that there would be a nook with a chair for reading, but my room didn't have one. It just had the bed, a couple of nightstands, a dresser, a mini-fridge, and a narrow desk. There's no closet, just a couple of hooks on the wall. The bathroom was basic, with a prefab shower unit. The decor is limited to a couple of vintage lamps and some patterned fabric for the curtains. The bed was comfortable enough and the air conditioner was wonderful at keeping it cool. There's a window next to the door with a top block that isn't covered by a shade, so anyone could stand on a stool from outside and look in the room. I went looking for ice at about 3pm one afternoon. I knew the bar was closed that day, but the entire front office area was locked and no one was around. Summer is slow season, but I wonder what if there were something more urgent than ice? At least the off-season rates are quite low.

The staff was very accommodating and more than willing to help me out with an early check-in. The check in process was really smooth and all they needed was an ID as there was already a credit card on file with my reservation. They handed me a key and showed me my room and that was it. The room was super cute, I love the exposed brick and the decor. The only thing I would know is maybe request a top floor room as being on the bottom floor I could hear the people above me moving around quite a bit. However, it is a really old building and that's just life I guess.
