We were quickly given an easy 1-2-3 of steering and handling the horse. I had the pleasure of riding atop of Romeo. The staff were pretty reserved and friendly. The ride was about 1.5 hours long thru a desert path. It was amazing to see the horses navigate in incline and descent rocky terrain. They would halt or slow down walking until they got good footing. Depending on the weather bringing sun shades, water, mask for dusk, proper attire would be recommended. However, I was not fully prepared. With that being said I still was ok without and had an amazing time anyway.

The few trainers that work from Raven Ranch are very friendly and all treat the horses they train very well. Cows are even often on property to use in training with one of the trainers! The owners are very pleasant and are very active in ranch duties. While one mucks stalls, the other helps with maintenance of the property. Owners and trainers are immediately alerted of even the smallest issues with their horses so immediate action can be taken, if needed. They feed the highest quality hay at the weight recommended by the owner and even offer lunch, supplement, and medication feeding for a little extra per month. I would highly recommend Raven Ranch to anyone looking to board, learn dressage, cow work, or anything in between. Great place to be, great vibes, positive energy.

Instead they hired a tyrant manager who threatens boarders when they question anything happening on property, including light feedings, which occurs frequently. When asked about repairs we are ignored, to the point of horses being injured and having to be put down. After putting the ranch up for sale for an insane price, as we all know it wasn't worth even close to what they were asking, they decide to make the poor decision to lease the ranch to a 26 year old with a record. Including misuse of livestock. Prior to this they stopped dragging footing, allowed weeds to grow all over the property and continue to not engage in any proper fly control. They were reached out to by numerous boarders and yet nothing happened or improved. The "new" manger at least fired all previous management, who had not done anything at the barn in years. She calls her self a trainer and doesn't even work with her own horse. Takes people's money to work their horses and then does nothing with them. She constantly lies about why she is constantly late to feeding at night and or not doing her job, EVER. Now that the ranch is under 50 horses, with one arena left with decent footing that still isn't being maintained properly, the owners have determined they are now going to "manage" the ranch and have hired new employees, yet have been duped into bringing back the previous manager as an hourly employee. The only reason most of us stay is for the best trainer onsite, Casi, and the owners continue to refuse to realize that listening to her and her boarders would actually help them make the ranch much improved. It's unbelievable that boarders have continued to stick it out in the horrible conditions and the lack of use of half the property. All the owners want is to make money and they some how thought this ranch would make it for them through a "flip". They don't care about the welfare of the horses and they don't really even know what they are doing because they are not horse people themselves. Not sure what will finally make them wake up and realize they continue to make one bad decision after another. This is a customer service business and their customer service is just as dilapidated as what they have turned the barn into.

The staff are very helpful with any needs I have for my horse. I like that you can bring in your own trainer from the outside at no extra charge. There are also trainers on site who teach and/or exercise your horse which helps if you need to be out of town or cannot give your horse the exercise he needs. Easy access on quiet streets to trails and the Pantano wash. Its park-like setting offers several places to read a book while your horse grazes on the grass. Stalls are cleaned twice a day and horses are fed three times a day. Though I don't have a trailer, I understand they don't charge for parking your trailer on the property. It's working out great for my horse and me.

They were very kind and supportive and helpful when it was time for my old guy to move on. He was my heart horse, 26 years old and it was his time. Crystal helped find someone to help with his body after he left it, and that was a huge help. They are kind people and the ranch has a family feel about it. The care the horses receive is top notch! They have grass turn-outs for the horses, as well as multiple arenas and round pens. River Valley Ranch is a great place to board your beloved horse (or horses).

We still have him to this day We had such a great experience and felt confident that we would get the same by going back to them when we decided to purchase another horse. We went back and as we were making the deal the horse acted funny and we were promised that if he didn't work out we could bring him back. He was just having a "horsey moment" Due to our previous experience and being told "You can always bring him back if he does not work out" we went ahead with the purchase. We had issues with the horse and attempted to work with him and these issues never resolved, so we contacted Laura and were told we would have to pay boarding fees while they tried to sell him and we waited for them to find another horse that would work out. We then decided that we would keep him at our place and take him back once they found us another horse to trade him out for. After several months had passed and no contact from them unless we called or texted. and then it was we are still looking. we decided to sell the horse. When a prospective buyer had the horse checked out by a vet we were told that the horse had Navicular Pathology and has had it for at least a year. We sent Laura an e-mail offering a chance to make this right and still have not heard anything back. we will no longer recommend them as we used to. we used to think very highly of them not any more!!

Facility: It has a large arena, medium arena, turnout, 2 round pens, jump course, trail course, dressage arena and small trail area with a 20 min ride to the CDO wash. They have many stalling option available from outdoor paddocks, mare motel, indoor/outdoor and a training barn. All boarding is reasonably priced. Boarders: All age people and horses from 6 yr olds (I believe in when the school allows them to start) to the 70-80 yr old women/men that have companion horses. Horses range from the young 2 year olds to the 30 year old retired horses. It is a very friendly atmosphere. Services/Training: The services offered are wonderful. Turnouts, lunging, training, lessons(show lessons, beginner, intermediate, advanced, Therapeutic riding (Rolling Hills Riding Academy) and plenty of school/lease horse). The owners have show all over the country in AQHA,APHA, Palomino, etc. from open shows to world shows and have a room full of pictures and awards to back it up. They have experience in the gaited breeds as well as arabs and the classic quarter horses. They offer training from tune ups and "problem horses" to full time training and show training. The owner has always made it a point to perform the service the customer is paying for. If it ends up pouring or other emergencies come up, they refund you or reschedule for the next day. Medical/Barn Management: The owners have a wide range of medical experience and that is one reason I have never considered moving barns. They walk through the barns and makes sure that the 70+ horses all look healthy. If they see a horse cast, colicing, scrapped up etc., they know how to medicate them. If it is serious enough, they have multiple experienced vets on call at all times. If they think a horse is slightly underweight, they confront the owner and discuss options to up their feed. They truly care about the horses and customers at their barn and lend advice whenever asked. They have never steered me wrong and I would trust them with my life. All-in-all this barn is ideal for all types/age riders and horses. With the expertise and experience on hand, the barn owners are able to manage and extremely friendly, healthy atmosphere and look out for their customers and horses. There is always something going on here. Today after a late lunch, I took the time to walk the…read morepark's perimeter. I had my dog Gretel with me. I parked near the rec center in the covered parking area and used my Strava app to show me the paths. None of these paths were marked. My route was a combination of dirt and paved paths, starting from the rec center and walking south along the paved multi-use trail leading to the Pantano Wash. I passed several sports fields. Most of the fields were well irrigated and green. I then turned east on a wide dirt path along the southern boundary. This was the least scenic section because of homeless camps here, accompanied by the trash the people leave behind. I didn't see any one here, so I felt safe enough to continue. The southern section is for BMX and dirt bikes as dirt trails converse in all directions. I walked north on another wide path back to the more developed area and finished off on the walking path that parallels Tanque Verde Blvd. The entire perimeter was 2.16 miles. I did not go inside the rec center since I had my dog with me, but the center seems to have everything an active family enjoys, including a swimming pool and splash pad. The Farmer's Market is Friday mornings on the north side of the park.

I went for a taichi class in a big dance, exercise & aerobic studio w wood gym type floors & mirrors . ( I believe it's available to rent ) Big gym , pool , exercise & weight machines , indoor walking track & , walking paths around big soccer fields . Many classes available & a big senior center with so many activities . My parents used to go Sunday nights maybe in summer to hear the Tucson pops? Orchestra outdoor concerts . The senior center even used to have tours available , parents had fun on a trip to Ruidoso NM group stayed at a casino. Lucky to have this inclusive exercise & activity county center facility . Parking available under shaded solar panels .
