I ordered takeout for the crispy chicken dinner. When I got home I saw that the chicken was not even close to the menu description and pictures. One piece was a breaded chicken cutlet, and other piece was some kind of deep fried thing (no breading). Since it was takeout and late, I was not able to return to the restaurant. Nor could I finish the meal; both pieces were extremely dry. And mostly, I'm left wondering why did they change the meal, and not even explain to me. UPDATE: Sometimes, how you repair the problem is more important the occurrence of the problem. I went to the restaurant and met with Sandeep (Manager on Duty). He recognized the error and remedied the situation. I am pleased, and impressed, with his effort. read more

This is a solid three. The service was good, food was good, and overall a pleasant experience. I ordered the half rack of ribs and they were very good. Tender, flavorful and not what you would expect from a chain like this one! I also appreciated trying their house beer pairing. The sides that come with the meal are good, I tried my sisters zucchini sticks, which had some potential but they are just too big and needed salt, terribly. Visited this location on a Thursday at about 6PM. It was moderately busy and they seemed to have adequate staff to handle it. Our four orders were close to the White Spot quality expected, but the service was abysmal. Given the current (global) staffing issues, slowness is not uncommon, nor unexpected, but flat out rudeness along with ignoring customers, is unacceptable. Based on our experience with the Romanian server, who did not give his name, we will not be going back there. read more

"Friendly" and "courteous" here is an understatement. The staff were excellent and verging on helicopter service (almost hovering). I tried the award winning breakfast burger and loved it. I got mine with the smashed hashbrowns. Thr place is conienant right off the highway and easy to pull into. The food and cleanliness overall are excellent. Their burger and chips are to die for( except they put their pickles on top of the bun making it soggy). Their food is way over-priced however. Staying at the Motel 6 literally next door for several weeks,I spent hundreds of dollars here as very few options due to remoteness of area. I had severe arthritic knees and asked if they could deliver it to me( about a three minute walk). Each time I had to practically beg,cajole or I would not have eaten that day. One particular time( my last ever) during the begging session Ientioned I tipped the delivery person well.I was mocked for my usual tips in a demeaning,unprofessional,manner by the female manager. I tip between $3- &$5-.She said,"Oh wow!!!!!" What tip do they want to deliver a $20- burger? Couldn't believe she would speak to a customer who spent so much money there. read more

Forgotten drinks, messed up orders, cold and overcooked food, lack of caring and a lack of apparent leadership in one of, what was once a, BC iconic restaurant made for a totally sad experience. Not the best "spot" I've been to. Recently, I removed the White Spot family from my quick go to place to eat. While on our way to Swartz Bay terminal, we stopped in because we weren't sure of other places around (being from the mainland), after this meal, I knew without a doubt this would be the last time I would ever eat at a White Spot. Disheveled, Zombielike service, and food I learned how to make as a child is how I would describe our experience. My veggie burger which apparently was designed based on the Vietnamese was dry and overflowing with sauce, and barely worth a mention in this review. I still question if they do indeed hire red seal chefs as the advertising dictates, and if so, are these "red seal chefs" proud of the general crap they produce. My recommendation is to go to the McD's across the highway, at least you know you're going to get a crappy meal. I'm still dehydrated from the meal, and I haven't felt that way since I last ate fast food. read more

After having seen so many of these "Legendary" restaurants around, I broke down and decided to give it a whirl. After the ferry ride over, I was given a magazine filled with various attractions and coupons. One of which was to White Spot. Famished after a long morning at Butchart, we headed over because I had already spent enough over there. This particular location is alongside some hotel/motel whose name I cannot recall. I do remember a fountain with rather extravagantly blue water. As with many family chain-restaurants there's not much to report. The service was nice and helpful as it was our first time here. But it's really no different from an Applebee's or TGIF Friday's but definitely a step-up from Friendlys. We had ordered a salad, the "legendary" burger and a salmon burger. The food was fine - again nothing special. But what irked me was that they charged extra for honey mustard (to eat w/my french fries)... what's up with that?! Anyway - it's just the same old thing but slightly more Canadian I suppose. read more

I have great childhood memories of going to the White Spot for their food -- usually burgers -- but their breakfasts usually have not disappointed. Granted, this White Spot is not one we frequented too much so the nostalgia is NOT there... actually, this location is very sleepy and quite frankly I think in need of an overhaul. 3 of us came for breakfast this past Sunday around 10am. The restaurant was surprisingly not that busy. We were seated at a booth not far from the main entrance. Our server - whose name I didn't catch - was prompt and friendly and probably the best part of our visit. Unfortunately, I was instantly turned off by what I saw at our booth on the sill: aside from a lot of dust (ew, do they clean much?!), there was a small tin ant trap in plain view. Made me question how "clean" this restaurant is. I've had ant problems in my very clean house, which is one thing, but to come to a restaurant and see an ant trap is less than inviting. No, I did not see any ants, but still... The menu is typical and feels a little pricey, but it's still not terrible. I settled on the vegetarian frittata & fresh fruit for $11.49. My parents went with the standard breakfast, one ordering sausage and one ordering bacon. Food came within a reasonable amount of time - my meal was probably the best of the 3. While their plates were hot, my parents' breakfasts were just warm and their hashbrowns were cold. Could they have complained? Sure, but they weren't going to complain over cold hashbrowns. My frittata was definitely tasty, but felt VERY SMALL considering the $11.49 price tag. Lots of veggies ( I skipped the mushrooms) and a little bit of cheese - the frittata was about the size of a side plate. The fruit cup, though, was awesome. Unlike your usual mélange of various melon and pineapple, this fruit cup consisted of fresh cut up apple, segments of oranges, grapes, and juicy strawberries. White Spot is usually good, but this location definitely needs to brush up on cleanliness. On top of that, hot food should be served hot. Will we be back? Maybe, but not definitely. read more

My family and I stopped in this White Spot (LOVE THEIR HONEY MUSTARD) location to quickly grab a bite before our ferry, we were quite hungry after touring UVIC. I have to say the meal was sub par. I ordered the new mac and cheese dish, it was pretty bad, way too many bread crumbs, more bread crumbs than there was pasta..barely any cheese sauce, dry. Dads meal = legendary burger he said was over cooked, did not like it. Mom, Sister = ordered the chicken tenders they were fine, hard to bake those incorrectly. Honey Mustard was #1 as always. This location and its food is garbage. - Sunday breakfast wife and I and two kids. kids ordered pancakes i ordered the spot omelette. food took 40 mins to come. when it arrived the food was cold, pancakes were rock hard like cookies. omelette was cold, hash browns cold. Coffee was warm and then when server brought top up coffee she was bragging about how fresh it was and we should feel happy we got fresh coffee. Wow! Popped in for a quick lunch...but waited 10 minutes for server to take our order. After placing the order it took 45 minutes before the food arrived at our table and the order was incorrect. They were not even busy....maybe 10 customers in the entire restautant. The servers were inattentive and I witnessed other customers experiencing the same issue with getting anyone's attention. I gave up waiting for the bill and went to the front...........that took another 10 minutes. Poor service, poorly presented food and pretty much bad food. We ordered the Legendary Burgers and they were just terrible. Do not go to this White Spot for lunch. read more

This is strictly a review on take out only. Apparently there is an app/online that can save you 20% on your take out at this time. We stayed in Motel 8 right across the street. It was raining and around 8-9pm so there weren't that many people, although some were still coming in to dine in. Host was new and he did apologize for his lack of knowledge which was fine. I ordered dry rib, clam chowder, and french dip sandwich. Dry rib was really good. Clam Chowder was different than ones I see here in the state which is white. It looked more like Manhattan Clam Chowder. French dip came with fries and cole slaw and was ok...and they forgot mustard. Just a plain sandwich with aju. It wasn't the greatest food, but I wouldn't mind dining at another White Spot location that they have everywhere including BC Ferries and Science World. They are everywhere. read more

Don't know what everyone else is talking about. Just went on a Friday night PJ dinner date and we are both very happy with the service. The servers were friendly, and helpful. The food and drinks came in a good timely fashion, and in large portions. If you are thinking about coming to this White Spot, don't read the other reviews, they are Crazy. Give it a go! Well, it's back under new management. We were hoping that with new staff and managers that the service would improve but, unfortunately, not. They had previously offered consistently terrible service. Service so bad that we used to go as a joke, sort of entertaining. The only problem is that as a single income family our budget only allows limited dining out, and spending so much money for such terrible service leaves me feeling a little angry (especially because we really rather like the chain). Despite the service, this is the only local chain restaurant, so we go there often. Also, I have worked in the restaurant industry...so I know what I'm talking about. Went there for my birthday because the prairie inn had a power outage the waitress took a whole hour (with small children with us) to even take our order and when she finally took our order she didn't accept my drivers license as id (im 24). Then after another half hour and the kids lost it and husbands had to take the kids outside she refused to bring our children anything other than soup crackers, i decided to leave and not wait any longer and after forty five minutes after the hour i said i wanted to leave she came over to inform us thats fine she hadnt even put our order in anyways. Yesterday I had one of the worst meals I have ever eaten. My husband and I stopped here as the Prairie Inn was full. This was our first mistake. We were greeted warmly at the door and the good service ended there. It took quite some time for our coffee and tea to be delivered and then there was an additional wait for our order to be taken, although we both knew what we wanted to order. Eventually our waitress took our order but was quite rude when my husband ordered his burger with no fries. I ordered one of their burger specials. It was billed as siracha turkey burger with goat cheese. When I have a Subway sandwich with siracha sauce it is hot and spicy the way I like my food. What I finally received from White Spot was a tasteless, cardboardy piece of overcooked meat that may or may not have been turkey. It had no seasoning at all and any moisture that it might have held had been cooked out of it. I could taste the goat cheese but there was no siracha that I could taste. As that was the reason I had ordered the burger in the first place, this was a real disappointment. My poor husband fared worse than me. His burger came absolutely plain - no sauce, no condiments of any kind. The meat was so overcooked it was almost inedible. I would have complained about the food has our waitress come back to our table to check our order. However, nobody bothered to check on us and we choked down the miserable food as we were very hungry. It is a sad day when the best part of your meal is the tea! I sent the restaurant a message about the food as they ask for feedback, but have received no reply. We eat out quite a bit and generally get good food. My advice to hungry people is to avoid this restaurant and go to one of the other good establishment nearby. If you want good food, well prepared, pass this location. read more
