Private beach with boogie boards for $1. Pretty aweessommeee! I can't swim, so... Not a big deal for me haha. The waves were on hit that day. Not too high though but good enough for boogie boards I suppose. We only stayed on one side of the beach, but it was still fun. The beach looks beautiful, but there were a lot of cigarette butts out there.. But still a fun place. ;) read more

It is a lot cleaner then I remember as a kid. There is a lot of parking, but you have to park on the rocks. Not that much shade parking unless you go early. You are most likely to see monk seals and if they are swimming in the water they will close down the whole beach. Cute beach but you cannot bring your dogs. read more

It's not the prettiest beach on the island, but the surfing is good here for beginners. That usually means the surf is too rough for younger kids. This and the adjacent Nimitz beach are also known hangouts for sharks, so just be careful. When the Navy used to fly out of Barber's Point, I am told crews could see sharks here frequently. Now we don't hear about them as often, but only because Barber's Point is not as active an airfield it once was. There are BBQ pavilions and surf-board rentals you can use if you are associated with the military. read more

I definitely enjoyed my time here. The sand is very soft that I couldn't help in burying my feet under it. I cannot say much as at the time I couldn't go into the water. With that being said, the only two issues I had was the parking lot and how crowded it was. Perhaps it might be because it was the weekend that it was a bit difficult to find an available parking spot. Even when my husband, me, and his friends set foot onto the sand, I was worried we might not find a spot to sit on. We had to quickly place all of our things down or else we wouldn't have anywhere to sit. It was pretty cool to be able to rent out surfboards. Perhaps next time I'll give it a go. read more

Nice, chill beach on the south side that everyone comes to. It's easy for me because it's the closest beach to my house. I come here pretty often and there's always surfers, paddle boarders, bodyboarders, and whatnot. The weekends have a lot of family BBQ's. Everyone's just doing they're only little thing here! read more

Great beach on the Ewa side. It is usually fairly crowded, but the facilities are cleaner than most. I hear it's a great place to learn to surf - lots of waves that come in one after another so if your timing is off you don't have to wait long to catch another! Sharp coral and there have been some shark sightings here FYI but there is also a lifeguard. If you are military and have an ID there is a stand where you can rent boards. read more

I've had the most relaxing and enjoyable times at this beach. I seem to really be able to let go and fall asleep here. It's not as picturesque as Kailua beach, but it's a friendly, family fun beach! Not as crowded as Kailua either. Parking is relatively easy. There is a sign for surfers one way and swimmers another way so clear boundaries which is cool. Lots of young, hot bodies walking around! Usable, decent bathroom that isn't a mile away from the beach. I love this beach! read more

Love this place!!! It's perfect for military families that want to rent out boards and more! It's never crowded with a ton of people so that's amazing. read more

Too crowded! Too many people learning to surf on the inside. Good to hang out and swim, but, if you surf, you will be frustrated!

I love this beach so much! Rentals, such as surfboards etc. are for military only. But about the beach: absolutely awesome! The waves can get pretty intense, that's the fun part, right? We were there for only a short period of time, maybe 30 minutes because we had to get a flight out and I wanted to visit a beach before we left. We will definitely visit this one again when we go back. Maybe we will be lucky enough to spot a seal! read more

I was there in Dec. and I swear this is one of the best beginner to intermediate surfing beaches in all of Hawaii. Long rides on gently rolling waves and lots of them. None of the 50 surfers fighting for one wave like you see at Waikiki! On an average day this place is probably not going to appeal to thrill seeking serious shredders but close in there are plenty of wave opportunities for beginners, kids, and old folks, while further out there are more challenging pickings for the more advanced. This is a pretty popular beach with locals but for tourists it's virtually unheard of. It's not the prettiest you will see but it does have sandy beaches, lifeguards, clean restrooms and a nice lawn area. Only drawback is the uneven shallow and hard! sandstone bottom. Reef shoes and careful stepping (falling) are required! read more

So yesterday I seen someone say they was gonna go surf even though it was cold and windy. Then I remembered the turkey I cooked and ate and realized my fat ass should take a swim. So I went and freezed my balls off! SO COLD! But after a few pee sessions and some acclamations to the water I enjoyed an EMPTY BEACH! Yeah it was windy but I had waves for days all to myself. After my session and my rush to leave before they lock the gate I hoped I didn't get sick. I didn't. I shoulda went today. Maybe tomorrow. read more

this beach is very chill only because there's alot of tables and chairs to make a party or to just chill and bbq. the water was very rough though today i suggest if you bring kids then you leave them around the sand area, the current looks strong to bring them in. alot of families around cooking and hanging out. so i would suggest to go there early to save a spot! theres parking but you need to go early to find a good spot. i love this beach, super fun read more

Love the beach! And super close to the house but as for it being military run, it really lacks the up keep?! Just had a morale BBQ for my husbands unit the grass was uncut, they had horse shoe holes instead of pits and the wood around it was all dry rotted, there was also a great green cover lagoon where the volleyball court was and occupied with sqeeters!! It would really be worth the money if they showed where they actually used it towards!! Bathrooms though are usually semi clean that's a great plus! The beach is always clean but the gnarled fence is a huge eyesore, but you can see past that because diamond head is beautiful shown from the beach :-) so it's a beautiful beach BUT just need to defiantly show the pride back it to keeping it looking good. read more

Beach recommended by concierge at the resort we stayed at. Clean, shaded picnic tables, and surprise visit by monk seal! Apparently, he comes often enough that volunteers rope off his area while he naps. Kids had a blast trying to boogie board and playing in the waves. Would recommend water shoes since there are lots of rocks and coral. Quiet and not touristy. Great place to learn how to surf. read more

White Plains Beach - Visit by a monk seal! He napped the whole time we were at the beach. - Beaches Near Me - Ewa Beach, Hawaii

Every time we go to a beach we usually come here. The waves aren't too big for little kids and the sand is soft to the touch. There are quite some corals in the water so you gotta watch out for those! There are lots of parking so you don't have to worry about that. It gets quite busy here on wknds. read more

Very overcrowded & dirty. Locals had dug a hole in ground to cook a pig, then dumped hot ashes on ground, covering w a few leaves; saw someone step on hot coals/ash. Nice. Dirty diaper in parking lot. Lots of unsupervised kids in the water, taking boards out & clearly were not skilled enough w them; running over other people w boards. Chaotic! I'm not sure why this beach has been given 4-5 stars. read more

Not too crowded on the weekends. Has a bathroom, picnic sites with grills, hose and shower to wash down, MWR restaurant to get snacks. Clean. read more

I've actually only been once to the actual beach park of White Plains. Usually we go to Nimitz and park on the road, since we live like 2 miles away. There were an insane amount of people at this beach, but I guess it wasn't horrible. Unless I plan on engaging in water sports I don't think I'll choose to go here just for fun. I'll stick to down the road! read more

It's the closest beach to just chill, read a book, bbq, take your family. Perfect place to learn how to surf since its not that deep (but theres reef). read more

Came here yesterday, Loved it!! this is a another beach that is very close to home for me. got there about 1pm and the beach wasn't too crowded at all. they do have life guards here. The swimming was great, we went during low tide and the water at the shore was calm and easy to swim in. Lots of surfers and paddle boarders here, i don't do either but seems like a good spot. the sand in the swimming area was soft and fine, not many rocks until you get out there farther. everyone else seemed pretty chill, parking was good, and there were tables and chairs along with many bbq areas at the top. liked this better than the close by Ewa Beach park. definitely will be spending my beach days close to home here! read more

One of my favorite beaches!! Love to bodyboard here when there is a swell. Many, many memories here as well being that I grew up going to this beach a lot. read more

This is a great place for surf and family. Locals were really cool to us on the beach and out in the line up.

The beach was great for learning to surf, not such a great spot for the family. The waves are rough and choppy and the place is kind of an eyesore in comparison to other locations on the island. There are so hazardous materials in the water that render the need for some swim shoes as well as a fence blocking off some rough patches that'll slice you and your loved ones in half should you make your way around it. Stay alert and hold on to smaller kids tightly! read more

Super fun waves so break out the long board or just drop in on the steep beach with your body board and bust an air if you have it timed right. read more

Had a great time surfing, rentals are super cheap. Parking was good. Facilities were clean easy to get to m staff was great

Love at first sight when I surfed here, the surf here is real nice and slow sometimes if you get lucky you'll catch some kinda fast waves, there's a reef that covers most of the floor under water though, at least where the waves are breaking so you gotta be careful if/when you wipe out. There are always some people there, not too crowded but this place does see a good amount of people on the weekends, everyone normally arrives at around 8-9 in the morning so if you're surfing, you might wanna get there before then or go surfing at sunset. You can see both the sunrise and sunset from the water and it is amazing, seeing the paddle boarding silhouettes is pretty dope and watching the ocean spray turn orange in the air is phenomenal. The looks and fun to be had here is awesome but those aren't all of the things you can experience there. The people in the water are usually friendly, chilling with the surfer pack is always fun, especially when everybody is shredding the same wave and feelin the good vibes. Everyone is normally friendly if you respect each other and be courteous. Bathrooms are how you would expect, there are multiple wash down stations and racks to wash your board, plus some tables and chairs to watch the ocean. The is some green area and some places to cook your favorite spam dishes and really nice scenery of downtown and diamond head. Love this place and I definitely recommend this place for any beginner surfers and people who live in the kapolei area! read more

This beach is easy to overlook as it is tucked away behind the Barbers Point Installation. There is an MWR that will rent gear to military (you have to have a military ID or they won't rent to you). There are a number of picnic tables, pavilions, and a decently up-kept bathroom and shower facility. The beach is decent and usually not too crowded. I go there to surf as it is one of the only locations close to where I live. Surfing is OK, but not great. The main issue is the wind which makes the waves really choppy and makes it a lot of work to stay in the break zone. Early morning or late afternoon is usually better. read more

This is one of my favorite beaches on Oahu! It's nice to come down on a week day when it's more quiet. A couple times we've set up the volleyball net in the grass and has some good games! It's also nice white water for surfing (the easy waves I like). Only problem is it's crazy crowded on the weekends, but most Oahu beaches are! read more

Since the state took over Barbers Point from the Navy and the public got access to White Plains, it's so crowded now. But it's still a nice beach for the family to bbq. It's a good place to learn how to surf if you're a beginner because there are so many breaks here and you can find a place to ride a surf board closer to shore without getting in the way of all the real surfers. Hard to find the beach if you 're not familiar with the area because its in the boonies. You can find a beach cam online and see what it's like. read more
