Warning signs about the strong current and dangerous shore break
    Kim C.

The beach is rocky in a lot of areas. There are signs warning you of the waves. I usually don't see any surfers but I do see boogie boarders. There are much nicer beaches across the island and wouldn't bring out of town guest here. You can see Diamond Head and Waikiki from this area. There is no life guard on duty at this beach. During the weekday it's usually not crowded. On holidays and weekends the parking lot may be full and people usually park across the street on the grassy area. This park is located in a residential area. Other things this park offers: - new play structure It has a slide and monkey bars. - basket ball court - polls to play volleyball (bring your own net) - big open space (play catch or football) - baseball field (it's near the parking area) - fishing - bathroom Bring toilet paper and soap just in case. - several wooden benches - several showers to rinse off According to the signs in the parking lot the park is closed from 8pm- 5am.

Review #341 - 2018 On our way back from Aulani, I wasn't sure what I wanted to do so I decided to head out to this beach because my cousin lives nearby. Sadly, she couldn't meet up with us so we ended up coming on our own any way. We showed up around 2:30 PM on Sunday, October 28th, and the parking lot was packed. We had to park on the lawn across the street. There were so many people having a BBQ, kid's birthday party and whatnot. My daughter ran straight to the playground. She had a great time even though the play structure here is a lot smaller compared to the parks in California. My daughter was too engaged in her playing that she refused to walk to the beach with me. Sadly, I got too tired after about half an hour so we decided to leave. The park is pretty nice and has lots of space for kids to run around, play soccer or football.

A friend had shared some pics of the sunset there and was impressed with how they turned out. So I said let me know when you go again and now here we are. We got there about 30 minutes before the sun set. I was impressed with how well the park was being used. Many groups of people enjoying the surroundings. Bbqing, swimming, playing ball, fishing.. etc. I believe there was a time when the park got dilapidated. We didn't want to come here at all. It was a big turn off. Although parking is a good size, it can get crowded. When that happens people start parking across the street against the woodsy area. It can happen on weekends and holidays. It's fun to bring kids here during low tide and walk along the shore exploring the eddy's and coral and swim in the little tide pools. Then, we'd get to Silva Store to get something to eat and drink before turning around. If you do this, stay off the resident's property and wall. They generally don't like that. The golden hour is here. My friend and I start shooting shots of the sunset with the brilliance coloring the sky to golden reds, oranges and yellows. Beautiful. It has been hazy the past few days so it was nice to have this clear day, not too much clouds, to have this beautiful sunset. You will want to be careful on the left side of the beach where you see the concrete wall up on a hill. That is a military firing range. If you hear shots, stay away. Better if you just stay away period. I remember my friend teaching me to surf here. I remember picking limu up easily filling 2 garbage bags thinking this will never run out because there's still plenty. Well, that's all gone now. I remember collecting puka shells here to make the necklaces. Dad sold them for us to his shipmates. Made good money. I remember going out catching lobsters. Practically gone too. I remember flyiing kites here. I remember coming out here as a family with our friends to swim, bbq and just relax. I remember 10yrs ago bringing my son here to the ocean for the first time. Too many fond memories makes it good to see the beach park is being used fully by the community. Let's hope the state or city and county can continue to maintain this for us and not get it in a sorry state again.

She sells seashells by the seashore. The shells she sells are surely seashells.

Expansive park with a playground set, basketball court, bathrooms and just tons of wide open space. Come during non-peak hours and you'll find easy, accessible parking. The beach is always, practically empty during the weekdays. You get a beautiful view of Diamond Head and town on a clear day and "clean" and unfiltered sunset beams. The sunsets here are quite spectacular coupled with the fact the beach is always empty. From time to time I've seen some suspicious behavior and suspects in the park and I usually never stop or get out (no sense poking the bears) but for the most part, families are coming back to enjoy this beach park. Just use common sense and you should be fine. I have yet to get in the water and probably wont except to dip my feet in it. I just get the feeling and the sense that the water currents are crazy here and the wave lulls are strong.

For someone not familiar with the area, it appeared that many of the roads in Ewa Beach lead into or up to the military reservation/base so we were finding it kinda hard to get into a beach that didn't require any sort of military authorization. I think that one of my friends told me that even if you don't have military credentials many of the beaches are still accessible. Regardless, we found this beach and it is just so wonderful. The sand drops off kind of sharply and there appears to be a reef directly as you enter the water so I am not sure if it's the best beach if you're trying to swim. It did have a very nice sunset and wasn't overpopulated. The locals were really friendly too. The beach starts at the end of the yards of the people that live with the beach as their back porch. What a place to have a house! :) There is also a basketball court and showers that are not the cleanest but will help rinse off the sand. There are also burrs in the grass so I advise shoes or flip flops until you hit the sand. The airport is somewhat nearby, so you can see the planes coming in, but can't really hear them over the thunderous roar of the waves coming in. What I found most entertaining is the little almost translucent sand crabs scurrying about back and forth running away from the tide and the popping out to scoop out whatever they can or chit and chat with the other crabs about what's not and what's not. That's an event all in itself. This really is a wonderful beach if you just want to sit and relax without a whole bunch of people around. Bring a towel or mat to sit on and just take it all in.

I give this beach full marks for its beachiness. It's not usually crowded, the parking lot usually has a few open spots, the sand is nice and clean, ocean is good swimming (I judge this by not killer waves but a bit of splash to keep it interesting, and no "cut my toe off" coral and sea urchins jungle underneath). The people there are chill. There's no hassles like the more crowded spots (i.e., I can let my giant dog run around and swim). I have never used the bathrooms or showers here so I can't give the scoops on them. I know what you're thinking- watch out for warm spots in the ocean, but my friends live 1/2 a block away so I use their house bathroom. I think it's decent fishing. We went and had a fun day of it. Only caught a giant puffer, but at least we weren't getting stuck in the rocks the whole time. There's a slew of stores on the drive there so you can stop by a number of places to pick up a picnic lunch. Not much more you can ask for here, but I have to take a star off for it being quite the drive from town. However, if you live on the Leeward side, it's a great option!

    The only one here.

Just your average city park. Don't be alarmed by the shouting and gunfire. There is a military firing range just next door. The parking is a bit of a walk from the beach itself so bring a cart for all your stuff. There are maybe 50 stalls there for public parking but it fills up fast especially in the afternoon. There are public restrooms and showers. Yes there are a few homeless there but they were alright. No crazies from what I could tell. They just wanna sleep most of the day. Pretty good playground for the kids too if they want a break from the shoreline. Even a basketball court on the grounds. Fishing was alright. Had a few big strikes but no catch.

Wanted a quiet place to relax after working out at the gym. Stopped by today, First time in several years. Spent my summers and weekends swimming or for soccer practice back in the 80s and 90s. The park looked a lot better. Up to date play ground equipment. Restroom and shower facilities available. Benches for picnics. Lots of grass for the Keiki(kids) to run around. The beach was a nice! Not crowded at all. Relaxing Warm water even in December. 1-2 foot waves every once in a while. Got to lay out like a monk seal and no one around to bother me 50 ft buffer zone lol. Really quiet today. No shooting ranges were Active today. Enjoyed the views of Diamond Head to the east. Not a commercialized beach so bring your own food and drinks. Nearest food place is at the golf course across the street. Soak up some sun and enjoy a beautiful day here.

Ever since I was a Little Girl, this park holds Many Special Memories for Me! You ask Why? Well, this is the park...Where My Grandparents,& My Entire Ohana would come here Every Sunday...to pick Edible Seaweed or as the Locals would call it "Limu", I'd help my Mom & Grandma clean it, wash it off & eat it! This is also a Place where My Father Taught Me & My Siblings how to fish! And, if we didn't want to Fish we'd Play in the Water, Catch Sand Crabs, and Build Sandcastles! ALOT of Memories!!! :) They do have a Basketball Court, Showers to Wash off the Sand, Restrooms are available, an Updated Jungle Gym, and a Stage where you can Hold your Parties, Gatherings, Etc., Oh, and Electricity is also Available! Again, You ask Me Why I go Here All the Time? This is Why! The Memories....This Beach is VERY SPECIAL TO ME! :)

This is a pleasant little beach park that doesn't get too crowded. The water looks beautiful, but can be a bit rough. The park is a nice size and there's plenty of space for kids to play. The restroom facilities are okay. It's a nice place for a walk and to catch a sunset. For relaxing in the water, the undertow can be a little strong. The sand is smooth, but the beach isn't always clean. I go here because it's close to family, but if I have more time I'll head up to Poka'i Beach Park, which is better in every way. I like this beach park, but don't quite love it.

    Nice breezy day!

Nice sized park. Lots of happy birds to listen to.

I love coming here to watch the sunset. The ocean breeze feels wonderful. The sound of the ocean is so soothing. Walking in it however can be quite a challenge, there's all of these twigs and mystery pokey things in it, I recommend wearing your slippers even when you're on the sand. A few years back there were some syringes that had washed up on shore. That was scary. They really have taken good care of this park in comparison to Ewa Beach Community Park (EBCP). It's a little further than a mile away (as opposed to the less than .5 mile distance from home to EBCP) but it's well worth the trip. There's a good amount of parking, and I see people parking outside on the sides of the road too (It's at the very end of the street) when there's no stalls open in the park itself. There's a basketball court and it's surrounded by grass. GRASS! Not a mixture of grass, dirt, and rocks (unlike EBCP) There's also a plastic playground that I feel very comfortable with letting my ladylove play on. Nearby there's showers and a restroom. Given that it's a BEACH park, you can expect wet floor and sand everywhere. The same place where you'd find the restrooms, you'll find shade with concrete slabs to sit on. Very nice :) Great for having picnics or just wanting to get some fresh air and vitamin D :) One of my favorite parks here in Ewa Beach.

    Nice.

If you need to bring your baby in a stroller, no need to worry about getting the wheels dirty and wet. 3) Can't say enough how the colors really brightens the mood and has my son excited to play! Either way, there's playing space for both parents and keiki! 5) If you're an Ohana with a Family Dog, there's also a fenced off Doggy Area to the far left! What I love about this place is that your guests can get as loud as they want because there is no immediate housing nearby that would complain of noise pollution. It's a great venue for parties that require more space than your home or perhaps something not the size of a banquet room at a hotel or country club. Perfect for the "small" local parties. There is tons of parking specific to this community center but also tons of available non-metered street parking. There is also a resident pool membership if your specific housing does not have a pool. The fee is an annual rate of $50.00 for head of household and $15.00 for each additional household member who is 7 years and older. There's a pool schedule that allots for open swims, swim clubs and lessons as well as overnight lap swims (it's an additional fee to have access to night swims). In my opinion, this is such a great asset to the growing Ewa plain community. The only downside is that this community center is that it's for all Ewa by Gentry (can't have just one if you're gonna build up the entire west side of Oahu). This is strictly a community center with no recreational equipment (like a gym or workout equipment).
