After driving for over 2 hours from Vermont, this was a lovely rest stop to replenish the body and soul. Ordered the "Madison" which was turkey with sauerkraut, sauce, cheese grilled on a foccacia bread, warm and delicious with a nice bag of crunch tater chips! Great selection of coffee (had the maple flavor version) and the down home earthiness of the food is wonderful. It is "hipster"-ish but not pretentious that many hipster cafes can be. It was simply a cafe bookstore that sold good food, good ambiance and friendly service. The counter attendant with no attitude nor judgement took my water bottle and filled it up with water and ice without blinking. The book selections were fun to review and had I more time or lived in the area, it would be my go to place every day. read more

This is a once a week stop for my fiancé and I! It is one of the only places around where you can get actually good and healthy food. They definitely are under staffed there but the girls behind the counter are working there butts offs and are 100% if there's a wait, which we never mind! Very cute spot in the picturesque town of Gorham. We were there for the weekend camping and couldn't resist driving in for their coffee. I had a café au lait and a cappuccino, while my wife had their regular blend and a cappuccino (two separate visits). Everything was great! There is also a little bookstore with a decent selection. Really enjoyed our takeout breakfast from the White Mountain cafe. You need to do takeout since they don't have seating but the food is awesome. I had the breakfast sandwich with vegan sausage and egg and we also had the last bowl of the vegan chili. Both meat eaters and vegans will love the varied menu. We stopped for breakfast here one morning. We got the wild cat on the jalapeño bagel and the burrito along with coffee. Both the items we ordered were very yummy and fresh. Roomy cafe has eat-in or to-go options, with lots of folks packing their food to eat later on by scenic waterfalls and vistas in any direction. Took our lattes on the road for a scenic drive north. Adorable little shop in a town that lacks a lot In The way of cute. Nice outdoor patio that provides a view of some of the white mountains, making up for the fact that you are on the "Main Street". Very friendly service and extensive options like the kind you would find in any good coffee shop. The surprising feature is the gift shop and book store inside. Super cute and charming with eclectic items. Food offerings are also varied; everything from panini, grab n go yogurt, quiche , cupcakes and organic jerky. Breakfast burrito and hot chocolates here are great. I added sausage to my breakfast burrito, and it kept me full way past lunch.

First of all, I love the vibes from this cafe, and it's very cute. There are many options to choose from, and I could tell by the limiting parking and long line that White Mountain Cafe would not disappoint. If you have a sweet tooth like I do, I would recommend getting the Maple Bacon Egg and Cheese on a bagel. They also have an awesome breakfast burrito. Delicious food. Average about 10 p/p. We had one half panini, soup, 1/2 panini with pesto, and one notch sandwich. We also split a carrot cake cupcake, and took a maple moose cookie for the road. Had a turkey/bacon cheddar panini here, and it was truly one of the worst sandwiches I've ever eaten. It was at 2:30 in the afternoon, so the place wasn't busy. First of all, you'd think a panini would be grilled nicely. The turkey was cold, and the cheese was not melted. The bacon was only bacon bits, and you couldn't taste it. Part of the reason was a huge amount of some terrible dressing slathered all over it. A $10 sandwich with no sides, but a Big Mac next door would have been ten times better. July 3rd afternoon I found out I had to work the weekend... but I had already made plans to go camping....so what is a girl to do? That's when a fabulous friend and White Mountain Cafe came to the rescue. Once again, free wifi saved my ass. It seems like a seasonal thing, but White Mountain cafe appealed to me as the sort of place where your next outdoorsy CEO or local reporter (sidebar: actually there was a reporter in there taking pictures of the place - I think she was writing an article about the cafe for the local paper) is likely to hang out. The tables, chairs and outlets line the perimeter of the cafe while a very comfy set of couches dot the fireplace (not sure if it's a real one). There were various photos of nearby mountains from a local artist, which you could also purchase. I'm not sure if it's a rotating artist of the month deal or what... but I like the exhibit. In addition to the cozy ambiance, the food was yummy and staff, friendly. I must have sat through 3 or 4 barristers and drank 5 or 6 coffees/Italian sodas/chai while I was there but never got any evil stares. Also, when I finally checked myself out for the evening, some guy started setting up drums and various instruments so it seems like they have live performances there too. If I ever find myself in Gorham again... I will definitely be back to veg on those comfy couches. read more

What a nice, comfortable cafe and coffee house nestled between a MacDonalds and a Burger king! We were out for a day of leaf-peeping and found this place in the not very big town of Gorham. It has a few tables inside with some more in a nice sun room with great views of the mountainside. Unfortunately, there is also a not very inspiring view of the Burger King across the street. The sun room had some books and toys that the grandkids enjoyed while we waited for our food. Panini's were very good -- even the vegetarian ones. My daughter-in-law, who is an unabashed Seattle coffee snob, proclaimed the 12oz cappuccino excellent. This is a place that makes you feel like a regular -- highly recommended. read more
