The sales agent will say anything to make the sale, being dishonest about features the car may or may not have or claiming they don't sell a certain brand of winter tire in order to make the bonus sale for pushing a particular brand. When it comes to servicing, despite making an appointment for a specific time, they have no intention of actually servicing your car then. No, this is just an appointment to "drop off" your car, and they'll get round to it sometime during the day when it suits them. Be prepared to wait for many hours for what should be a simple and quick service. When you complain, the salesmen promise to make things right, until it actually comes to making it right. Then they deny ever offering to help you and will reluctantly let you speak with a manager. A manager that will either tell you he can't do anything, or to take your complaint to GM head office. If you do take you complaint to GM, they refuse to help you saying you have to speak with the dealership. We've had nothing but dishonest and disrespectful treatment from Ontario Motor Sales, and consequently will never buy from them again.

Once my vehicle was at Menzies Chrysler the technician stated that he took the vehicle for a road test and could not hear any abnormal noises. So I picked up my vehicle after paying the $185 diagnostic fee. I asked to speak to the mechanic who drove the vehicle and asked if he could take a drive with me in the vehicle. The entire drive I sat in the passenger seat and the technician drove with the window open and kept saying he couldn't hear any noises. When even I could hear the noises in the passenger seat. He told me to continue driving the vehicle until the noise got worse and bring it back in. Last Thursday (2 weeks after my appointment at Menzies Chrysler) one of my employees called me stating that the drivers side front tire wheel well was smoking and that the truck was very hard to steer. We had the vehicle towed to another ram dealership in Stouffville where they gave me an entire page of repairs required to fix the vehicle. The Stouffville ram dealership mechanic showed me that the drivers side front wheel bearing has a catastrophic failure which caused the brake caliper, brake rotor, brake pads, and front axle to basically melt. Now with over $5500 of repairs needed the Menzies Chrysler service team continually state that the problem has nothing to do with them and that the truck left them 100% mechanically sound. Even after bringing all documentation and photographs to the Menzies Chrysler service team they continually say that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle when it was at their dealership. After confronting the mechanic and the general manager instead of them coming up with solutions to remedy the issue they try to blame me because I had changed my own front breaks about 9 months prior. And further more when speaking to the technician and asking him if he has removed the front tire to take an in depth look (after paying the $185 diagnostic fee). He told me there was no reason to take the tire off because he hadn't heard any noises. As an experienced mechanic he should have done his due diligence, instead he was negligent in his practice and the general manager covering his mistake. Never will I return to this dealership after this experience.

The commutation between me and Blair was basically non existent. I had to check in with him every now and then to get any updates. So in the end I settled on a truck that had a few more options then I was looking for. The truck finally showed up and they were getting it prepared for pickup. The day I picked it up came and I was a little excited. Went in to sign the papers and that's when I noticed they didn't listen to how I wanted it done. I said I wanted the loan in my name with my wife as the co-signer. That didn't happen, my wife was first on the loan. I also wanted to make sure the Truck itself was in my name but low and behold it was registered under my wife's name. Now I need to fine time to get the truck transferred to my name and probably pay a fee along with it. All the emails and texts I get from GM and Gus Brown is addressed to my wife. I decided to let it go as I didn't want to wait any longer for them to fix everything. And the last thing was when all the papers were signed and we were out doing the walk around before I took possession of the truck I noticed the gas tank wasn't full. It was a little under 3/4 of a tank. I asked Blair about it and all he said was he had a budget for filling the vehicles up and he wasn't authorized to go over said budget to fill it. We pay enough for these vehicles to begin with. It would be nice to pick it up with a full tank of gas. And the gas prices were considerably lower then what they are now. With all that said I would NOT recommend Gus Brown to anyone. I've already decided I'm done with this place and they will never see this Truck in their service department. My wife also bought a little Chevy Spark at the Nurse Dealership just down the road from Gus Brown a few months before I got my truck, and the experience was so much better. I'm considering taking my Canyon to their service department for any and all warranty and service I may need. Also, if you have a kid with you like we did. Make sure to bring something with you to keep them occupied. As they don't go out of their way to engage with the kids. Unlike the Nurse dealership which they offered my kid snacks and wifi for her iPad to keep her occupied. It's the little things that help make a good experience. If your reading this review and looking to buy a GMC I would recommend looking into another GMC dealer as they are not very professional and don't go out of their way to make it a positive experience.

Gus Brown Buick GMC Ltd. - Whitby, GMC and GMC Canada…read more Officially calling out GMC located in Whitby. We bought a brand new GMC Terrain a few years ago and have had problems with it since day one. The first incident occurred when I was driving down Thickson rd and the car put itself in park. We were told it was the gear control panel buttons that came back with an error code needing to be replaced. After that came the issue of me turning the car off when it was parked and the middle console staying on. I could literally still hear my music after locking and walking away. I have had people come into work to let me know that my car is still on in the parking lot. I was told by gm in Whitby that it was happening because of the sensor in the door and to just allow it to time out (eventually causing my battery to die). They replaced the sensor part after putting up a fight. After that we have had continuous problems. The middle console malfunctions regularly turning on and off. Not syncing with volume controls or ac control. I have also now had the transmission light and warning several times now. I brought it back and was told the error is the same part that was replaced in the first visit. (Which btw they replaced it with a part from a car in the parking lot the first time and did not save any records or documentation of them doing that). We ordered the part and took the car home. Allowing them once again to try and fix the problem. Weeks later they called it in to be replaced. My mother went to pick up the car and my whole ac unit was broken. Apparently I am super man and somehow punched in my whole AC unit with my super strength? None of the buttons work. They refused to take responsibility and refuse to fix it. They claim it was brought in like this. But for some reason they never called to offer to fix it or even mentioned it upon pick up. My mom noticed it.....everything you read above isn't even the full extent of the headache this car has caused. Every fix was an argument or fight to get fixed or to even speak with someone higher up. We were offered pennies to return the car and given 1000 towards a brand new vehicle meaning we would have to take the loss for this poorly made car. We have been bounced around from person to person including head office and the actual dealership. I am at a loss on what to do and now that the damage is more than just an inconvenience PS DO NOT BUY FROM GMC WHITBY (the car we purchased was a brand new GMC Terrain)

After about 3 weeks of calling, texting and emailing the sales rep Ryen, who I have learned has had many other complaints and bad reviews written about him through his "newride.ca" brand but who cares right? Just close down and re open a new location is how he's survived until now. To comment on our experience, I will say that when we couldn't locate our sales rep or vehicle that we purchased, we felt very uneasy so we backed out of the deal. As soon as that email was sent to Ryen, we received, a greedy, testosterone driven, screaming mad man surface after all that time with no explanation, just threats that we HAVE to complete the deal regardless of our bad feeling, he threatened with lawyers and bad credit ratings and had my girlfriend crying every day for two months until our lawyer was able to assist with the reversal of the contract which wasn't cheap. As a matter of fact, when I see a car with his companies licence place frame on it I ask about him and absolutely 100% of the time, I hear that once the sale is complete you're history! If you don't take this reviews advice. I had to give this business 1/5 but if I could have selected '0', I would have! I will leave you with these wise words, if you get fooled, it's your own fault! And for almost 20 years of reliable motoring up and down the West Coast, from the lower mainland of British Columbia to the Mexican border, where one's standard insurance does not apply should they cross, and many points in between. Few things are as maddening as driving around my native California, and the West Coast in general, and seeing how many people are still passing up on the opportunity to buy a much improved domestic vehicle, either because "once bitten, twice shy" or because it's not cool. Well, in some cases, I can see why. A coworker once told me that his dad bought a Cadillac in the '80s with the V8-6-4 engine in which the unneeded cylinders would not fire, thus saving gas. Since the car never ran quite right, his dad traded it in and swore off American cars. But, back to GM of Canada Oshawa Assembly Plant, it's not just me. The Oshawa Assembly Plant, in an eastern suburb of greater Toronto, has won accolades for its quality control. They were assigned building GM's venerable long-lived W-body, meaning LaCrosses, Intrigues, Grand Prixs, and Impalas/Monte Carlos, for 4 divisions of General Motors. These rigs ran on platforms that were time tested, with engines and transmissions that went unchanged for years and had thus proven themselves. Consumer Reports and the "dot" rating system also loved the two makes/models/years I owned as well, giving them the "much better than average" dot for most of the cars' systems. Ah yes, the good old days when, in now import crazed SoCal, there was enough consumption of GM vehicles to have stand-alone Pontiac and Oldsmobile dealerships. Today, Pontiac and Oldsmobile no longer exist. Ok, fine - you're cool in your foreign vehicle, and I'm a "cradle to grave" General Motors geek and aficionado. And what they've built for me at GM of Canada - Oshawa is part of the reason why.
