Dropped in to get a quote for a damaged rear door on my 2010 Lexus RX350. Sang attended to my request immediately and offered a couple of solutions. Within minutes, a replacement door was located by Sang - same year, exact same colour and outstanding condition. We agreed on a price which was cheaper than repairing the original door which would require a lot of work and filler. I brought the car in the next morning and by early afternoon the work was completed. I'm pleased that the door is structurally safe and sound as well as looking great. We just had the most wonderful experience with the ever-cheerful Sang Lee. We needed to have our summer wheels installed. Sang was busy and said it might take him an hour or more to get at it, so we toddled off to the fab espresso bar on the corner. We hadn't finished our coffees and cookie (cookie singular; we are still porky after the plague) before the phone rang. Our car was done and the new tire pressure monitors had been installed. Sang backed the car out and parked it on the side street, then ran through the pressure-monitoring system. Above and beyond, quick and affordable. Sangs my go to mechanic. I don't even bother with anyone else. He's fair, he understands a student budget and will tell you if your car can afford to wait for a repair. Its the little things like cleaning under your dashboard because its off and he knows its a hard to clean area. Or an accident on new years eve ( possibly the most inconvient time of the year) and not only getting a quote but personally dealing with the opposite party payment on your behalf. These dudes did a great job on a mercurial old Mercedes Benz I brought in close to overheating when Mir and I were headed out of town one Saturday. We were lucky we didn't get on the highway because we woulda been screwed. The water pump, yes the water pump, was broken and needed replacing. They made a few calls and got a part quickly and cheaply. It was caribana and I had to take an uber up to Bari and Teddy's place because Bari was nice enough to lend us her Honda Pilot for the weekend. It was surge pricing and cost us $118! I complained to uber and got a $30 credit, which I mostly used for uber eats the next week. Anyways, the guys fixed the car great and cheap. Their hourly rate was $80 and they couldn't have been friendlier and easier to deal with. I was in need of a new mechanic too, because the sketchy guy Alain recommended pretty much disappeared after doing some half assed work for us. Would definitely recommend. read more

This is my first review. 1 Four 0 Nine was so good that I am willing to take the time to write them this review. I called in on a Sunday last minute, no appointment and they were able to take me immediately. I could not find a single mechanic to take me on a Sunday, let alone one that was open. I needed my brake pads, rotors and caliper replaced immediately and they took me in with no hesitation. Honest, speedy, knowledgeable, patient to explain, fairly priced and all around did a great job. They were kind enough to offer to do the complete job at a later day as well if needed. I don't write reviews for places but this is just to let people know what to expect going to this mechanic. I've been looking for a mechanic to work with and seeing the great reviews and hours that this place has, I decided to try it out. Some back story is I have an older truck that I have done work on and want to get the safety for knowing there may be a few tidy up things that need to be done but not a complete overall. I also have another mechanic that I get to do jobs on the truck here and there but his hours and my work hours don't match up, thus is why I went to 1FOUR0NINE. I dropped the truck off in the morning and give him a call in the afternoon just to see what is the progress. This is when I am greeted with rudeness by Sang who has stated that my truck is not safety-able. He was valid in saying that there was a broken bolt in one of my front calipers and that there is an exhaust leak that would be a problem. This is fine as I said I knew it needed work but where it gets a little ticky-tack. He goes on and says that i would need to replace a catalytic converter (no engine codes stating to do so) and I would need to replace the whole caliper instead of removing the broken bolt. He then states i need to basically change the Y bend in the exhaust and that it would cost a lot of money to do. Granted this work cost a lot but the severity of the conversation made it seem that my car doesn't even run (which it does). Then he tells me that the rust hole i have in the rocker panel must be patched for the safety where he says "someone can walk up to your truck and cut themselves and so it isn't safe". Keeping in mind that the whole is on the bottom corner of the cab (think hole in a side skirt). In my years of having cars with rust and things like this, i've never once heard this as being a thing. But given the benefit of the doubt, sure why not. Lastly, and why I wont be using this mechanic, He questions the integrity of the work I have done on the truck and my integrity as a person and states that he will not be giving me any certificate unless he personally does the work on the truck. This made me definitely want to stay away from this shop. I picked up my truck later in the day at which point for some reason I apologized for wasting his time even though i'm trying to give them business. He even stated, "i'm not here to fix problems", which is mind blowing as his work is literally to fix car problems. Fortunately, I got my safety done my original mechanic who gave me the safety and tidied up a few details (broken bolt). My thing is that I get it, its a business you want to make money and someone who does his own work and uses your expertise and certification means that you wont make a killing. But in this case, this guy totally ruins the look of the business and people should know before they jump into trying this place out. I genuinely think this shop probably does good work and probably more body work then mechanical work. But man this whole experience was on a whole very negative. Seeing that I was looking for a place that better suits my schedule (open Sunday) and is close to where I live, this place would have been great but it is just sullied by a guy with just a bad attitude. If you're getting something done through insurance and wont have to deal with price negotiations etc and if its specifically body work and mechanical, these guys probably do good work. I came in here for an unusual repair. The screws for my license plate cover has corroded and fused with the frame which I need to take off in order to replace my expired registration sticker on my plate. The shop was small and there were three Vietnamese men working leisurely on other cars, but one of them was nice enough to help me right away. He spent a lot of effort to drill out the stainless steel screws which was a lot of work and there were four of them. When it was all done he said it will be just $20, which was much less than I was expecting. I was worried they will gouge me not only because of the work involved but I was driving a newer luxury German car -- they seem to do a lot of work on mostly older Japanese cars. In hindsight I should have gave him an extra $10 as I was desperate to get it done as I was driving around with expired stickers and the guy was very nice, honest and hard-working. I was very impressed with their courteous and prompt service and they are open on the weekends with reasonable hours which is a nice plus. read more

I've been going to these guys for years and they are efficient, honest with competitive prices. they are a family run business so just ask for 'Mr. Lee' or 'Sang'. The owner knows all sorts of European and domesitc makes and he is also a SAAB Specialist. They can also do anything from brakes, engine rebuilds to bodywork and more. I've been to many mechanics around town (and elsewhere), and this wonderful little father-and-son shop is the best I've seen yet. Sang and Hoang are really friendly and personable, and reasonable in their prices. The shop is pretty small, with not a lot of place to wait, but they get things done efficiently.
