You can't care about your guests, at all.
This place is SUPER remote. Like, no cell phone service with the major networks.
Gas up before you go. After you leave I-35, there are 20 minutes of 'where the hell am I', back-woods driving. No lighting, no street signs.
The nearest lodging is a one-star Motel in Sanger, about 25 minutes away.
We couldn't send or receive text or calls. You need to tell your guests that they cannot be reached in case of emergency? Just out of luck for babysitters or people On Call at work. I also wonder how you'd reach 911 without a Satelite Phone.
Forget using an App for navigation. We dug out a Garmin, but it couldn't keep a signal, either.
A map wouldn't help, because the streets and back roads aren't marked. There are zero street signs.
The dirt roads are really rough; kicking up tons of dust and rocks, so don't take a car you care about. A 4-WD jeep would be ideal.
Ladies, do NOT go outside alone! Ask someone to walk you in from the parking lot (except you can't get a signal to call anyone. Oops.)
It is pitch, pitch black out there, like deep in a cavern. Scary.
No lighting in the parking lot. It has large, sharp rocks so hiking boots are better than strappy heels.
There's a really long path leading to the building with uneven pavement. It's also unlit except for two trees wrapped with twinkle lights - only helps for a few feet, then you're in the dark again.
Your guests had better be in good health to walk that far. Forget your elderly guests. It's a hostile environment for anyone with a mobility aid (cane, walker, wheelchair, etc).
It's pretty inside, though. And the bathrooms are nice. read more
