I cannot stress enough how over priced the food and drinks are at this restaurant (portions are tiny)- the value is abysmal - they have a sister restaurant (The Stave and Still) that was closed last evening, so that Whiskey Rocks could be properly staffed - it was not in my opinion even close to being properly staffed. What a great place, food, people and time. Our annual company holiday party was labeled as "THE BEST" in 20 years. As a group, we couldn't have been happier to have spent our time at whiskey rocks. Communication was excellent, quality of food was great, live music was talented, fun and satisfied all age groups, axes, fake bull riding and smiles all around. Be patient with this caring and customer focused staff, they experience all of the realities that we are all dealing with. I will stop in any time I'm 30 minutes within this awesome place and we will book again for our next gathering. A group of us went to see a friend's band perform, I wanted to like the place. I also wanted to contradict the reviews about it being too expensive. Sometimes you pay for a good experience. Unfortunately I can't. The food was good and I was not taken aback by the pricing. I thought it was reasonable, served quickly and at a good temperature. The portions were sufficient. Our waiter was excellent throughout our stay of almost 4 hours. However. The acoustics were absolutely terrible. No surprise for a former retail store with metal exposed ceilings. Vocals were muffled and that wasn't the band's sound settings, the piped in music was just as hard to hear clearly. The seating was uncomfortable. The building was cold (I'm not usually uncomfortable but I had to keep my coat on). Finally the beverages, I don't drink alcoholic beverages but my wife does. Her comment was that the prices were high but not crazy, however the mixed drinks were way too weak for the price. Her cosmo was mostly juice, she saw it from the start before a taste by the color. The location is good, it was fun watching people try to ride the bull, there was a good crowd which lent to a good vibe in the building, plenty of parking. Large screen TV's were available each set to a different sports program, but they were lined up on the back wall and pretty much useless to most of the building. Some stuff to like here, but quality for the money, and the physical shortcomings (sound, comfort) left me with a feeling I'd rather not return and three stars might be generous, mostly earned by our waiter. read more

Welp, for short this place is like a Toby Keith's. Decor is pretty cool and very nice for the little town it's in. We came for the talent that was playing tonight. That's it for positives. You have got to check this place out.. There is nothing like it around! Located on Airport Rd in Dudley, this is a large venue with plenty of parking. The decor has a country / southern / Nashville flair to include whiskey barrel high top tables. You can take a ride on the mechanical bull or try your skill at axe throwing. The server staff are very friendly and attentive. They explain the menu items and offer suggestions. We ordered the bourbon cowboy tips and the chicken and waffles; both were cooked perfectly and delicious. The menu offers something for everyone. They get their steaks from Ed Stearns dressed meats. Their cocktail specials are unique, they also offer tequila and bourbon flights, wine, and a wide variety of beers. The desserts are AMAZING!! They also have a stage for live music with a dance area, and a large bar with plenty of bar stools. We will definitely be back! read more

The place looks absolutely amazing with a mechanical bull, a huge stage, arcade games, and the new menu looks perfect for a fun night out. So my friend and I decided to give this restaurant a try after our original plans were cancelled. Out expectations were low as we drive by frequently and it is always empty. The interior is lovely but very cold as other reviews have mentioned. We tried axe throwing ($25 = 15 min) but due to the axe being extremely dull it was impossible to stick (as the owner demonstrated during instruction). Anyway it was something to do. We stayed for dinner despite the menu prices being quite high. We decided to share as spending upwards of $200 for 2 with no live music just did not make sense. The restaurant was empty at 7:00 on a Friday night. The strip steak was very good (ordered medium rare but was medium). The bacon, cheese tots, wedge salad were also good, just over priced. The bartender is the owner and shared that when he 1st opened the restaurant attracted "the wrong people" so he decided to raise the prices. He is clearly living out a dream but unfortunately his lack of business sense will doom this restaurant. His daughter (server) was annoyingly trying to upsell the steak and deserts. I understand her role to sell but offer then accept no ( no one enjoys a used car salesman mentality). We will not return as there is many fine restaurants in the area (Sturbridge, Putnam) or a 30 min drive to Worcester that provide a more pleasant experience. read more

Despite the reviews, I wanted to check this place out. Bit of a drive for us, and when we arrived on a Friday night about 8:30pm, it was dead. (Bartender said it was a very unusual night.) But there was a great band playing, the bartender was super nice and I don't know why previous customers were whining about their drinks, ours were very good. My husband had a great special whiskey drink with infused honey and rosemary. Yes, they should have draft beer and the wine list needs improvement, but good cocktails. We had had appetizers at another restaurant so I wasn't hungry, but my husband ordered a steak, and the bites I had were delicious! Everything was very over priced for the location of the restaurant as well as the quality of the food. The waitress tried to upsell us on every little thing. A member of our party had to request the short ribs for their meal 4 times while she tried to tell him no "you want the tomahawk steak". He almost gave up and ordered nothing out of pure frustration. In the middle of winter the temperature was 58 degrees and we all had to wear winter coats inside. We were the only table in the place from 6PM-9PM on a Saturday night... red flag. My husband and I decided to give this a try after this place has been open a few months. I am not a huge country music fan but I said bull riding and axe throwing they probably have a great vibe going but once we went in it's nothing like that. There was a band that was just about to go on, but while they were setting up there was 90's music playing in the background. ‍ Wait I thought this was a country bar? When we looked at the menus I thought wow, high prices and unusual high end dishes for a place like this. My husband got the Cowboy tips which were cooked perfect, but for taste was subpar and they weren't tips but 2 thick pieces of meat and the fries were cut like large steak fries. I got the Pulled pork Mac and cheese which when it came the pulled pork looked over cooked and dry and it tasted okay. Not worth the $$ paid at all. The drink menus is so odd, tons of craft beers but not on tap all in cans. The mixed drink I got was the mudslide which like other reviews hardly had any alcohol in it but I was okay with it because I don't mind but for $15.00 I can see why people complain. The band was good and I didn't feel they were loud at all but actually perfect and could have a conversation with hubby. We wanted to like it but for the price of everything and the vibe we wouldn't go back or recommend. I totally understand how things have gone up but I think they missed the concept of this place. Everything was not good. Nothing was direly bad, but entirely the whole experience was a comedy of errors. We stood waiting for a few minutes at the door, not a big deal but in hindsight it added up. Being 5 of us, we couldn't sit at the luxurious 4 or 8 person tables so we were relegated to the tiny bar stools at the 6 person tables. The tables were unsecured pieces of glass on barrels - neat but not the most safe and annoying to sit at with them wobbling around. The two pushed together that we had were uneven with each other and not at a comfortable height combined with the stools. Our server came for our drink order and I asked which part of the menu was draft, they said it was the one single beer (Sam's 16oz for $10) listed and everything else was bottle/cans ($9). Got our drinks without issue. A little weird they serve everything beer in a pint glass. The server took an inordinate amount of time to come back for our order and had to stand next to each person to hear us over the music playing overhead. Our food came out in kind of a long time for what we got. Order 1: Jumbo Lump Crab Cake ($29); Asked the server if the sauce was on top or the side, server said side (that was preferred) but apparently didn't verify and it came out slathered with sauce. The crab cake itself didn't taste very good and had very little texture, pâté like. If it was originally jumbo lump crab meat, the kitchen does not know how to handle it, there were no identifiable lumps of crab. "It tastes like cat food." Order 2: Pulled Pork Mac ($22); A bowl of mac with some pulled pork on top. Not the best but no complaints. Order 3: Burger, with fries, medium, American cheese ($18); burger was under cooked at about med rare and was a meatball instead of a burger with cheddar instead of American. Fries were significantly undercooked (middles could still snap) and not really steak fries, more like little wedges. Missing ketchup. Order 4: Burger, with jalapeno mac n cheese, cheddar, medium rare ($18); Again it was a meatball not a burger but I guess that's a style or something. Internal temp was correct but the bottom was charred black and hard (you could tap it). The server tried to claim it was blacken seasoning but it was clearly just burnt. The burger had a slab of tomato 3/4in thick, there was possibly more tomato than burger. Anyway, lots of tomato: fine, but the burger got cold fast because of it. And no ketchup. Mac n cheese was okay, pasta cooked nicely, texture was good, but there wasn't much flavor coupled with too much heat for the lack of flavor. Order 5: Drunk Duck Quesadilla ($23); Very little filling and unevenly filled. The first piece on top had almost no filling. The second piece had slightly more but still more tortilla that filling. The duck was too finely cut and the texture of the filling was a little slimy but the flavor was good. With pretty much everyone unsatisfied at the table, the manager appeared at the table, unsolicited. They were nice and polite. They tried to ask if they could appease us by redoing or ordering other items on the menu but we all just wanted to get the check and go. They kept insisting on giving us a dessert and we told them if they brought anything out it should be plated to go. They insisted that our experience was not how they hoped or is normally and wanted us to come back to try them again. This led me to believe they wouldn't be taking anything off the bill but would instead send us home with a ~$20 gift card/food voucher or something. We got neither. I should've explicitly asked for at least one of the meals to be comped but I didn't think in this instance I would have to ask. At least we weren't charged for the dessert we didn't really want or ask for. What a terrible birthday meal. read more

We drove an hour and some change because my dad really wanted to ride a bull for his birthday. This place was perfect. The staff was very attentive and so friendly. We really enjoyed being here. We went on a Saturday night and it wasn't too busy so we were able to ride the bull how many times we wanted. The ax throwing was a great treat we were able to try. Overpriced drinks and the bartender was very unpleasant. I got a very weak whiskey sour and paid $14 (we went to Days End in Oxford right after and I paid $8 for the same, much better drink). I went to the bathroom and saw this sign and was immediately turned off by the entire place. Trying to get sympathy for being a woman and having children seems a little desperate and that's coming from a woman with children. If people are bringing in nips then I can assure you they're not going to stop themselves because of this sign. Perhaps lowering your prices will encourage the poor college students to spend the money rather than sneaking the alcohol in? The live music was entertaining but very loud and echoed throughout the mostly empty bar and it was hard to talk to each other. We tried the place out because the concept seemed like a great idea with the bull and axe throwing but it felt like they were confused by what they're trying to be. It appeared like it was a college bar but they were trying to be high end with their prices and pouring bottled beer into a glass for the "aesthetic". It would have potential if they actually embraced their general theme. Also let it be noted that I'm not even a college student but I certainly wasn't going to a bull riding bar expecting to be in a high end establishment, as I'm sure most people aren't. Great concept but poorly executed. Ive been here 3x and each time was worse. The ax throwing is a joke as the axes wont stick in a 4x4 stuck in with the grain sideways and we were throwing hatchets not axes. The food sounds good but was sub par. Taco trio was cold fish was mushy. The steak tips are three chunks. The drinks had less alcohol in them each time we went. My friend and wife both sent back the mudslide and martini after two sips no booze drank beer instead. Teens cant execute the chef level menu plus i think 1/2 the food is frozen prior to cooking. Got there and ordered drinks and an appetizer. The waitress was great. We ordered the Mac and cheese trio ( not sure what it's called on the menu). It was pretty good. We ordered 4 meals for dinner. Chicken and waffles, salmon and 2 burgers. I ordered my burger pink. Both burgers came out as hockey pucks. The chicken and waffles were burnt and the salmon was severely undercooked. The burgers and definitely the salmon were inedible. The side dish of corn that I ordered was extremely salty. The manager offered to have the meals reordered but to me the chances of them getting it right were slim. Having 4 meals cooked incorrectly didn't give me any confidence. We had already waited quite a while for our initial meals. The food was removed from the bill and the manager apologized and gave us an axe throwing gift card. The restaurant is a nice concept but it seems that there are operational problems that are going to keep it from being successful. The redeeming thing about the experience was our waitress who did her best to solve problems that she had nothing to do with. read more

My husband and I sat at the bar and the female owner was very rude to the wait staff that was trying to accommodate our order. Was not impressed but gave them another try for New Years Eve. A few months back tried again to listen to a band and have dinner. There were 6 of us and we got there early. The wait staff was very nice and professional. Unfortunately, she had to tell 2 of the people at my table that they had no more wedge salads. The food that we could order was OK but not worth the price. The mixed drinks and beers also overpriced. We asked for separate checks which they could not accommodate and there was a 22% gratuity charge applied. A dinner and some drinks for 6 came to about $500. this place was nothing like i expected. was hoping for a fun night out with my good friends, all aged 22-23, and was very disappointed. my drink was ok but everything was very overpriced. food was just ok, but definitely not worth the money. there was a band playing and they were played so loud no one in the group could have a conversation. it made it very awkward and we were forced to stare at each other all night. some of us left with headaches. i wouldn't have minded the loud band if everyone was dancing but no one was. plus the whole vibe of the place is confusing. i was expecting something much more casual and thrilling, but it seems they wanted to go more high end. did not see the country theme nearly enough besides with the bull. they are right by a college and 20 mins away from several in worcester but the prices are too much for any student and is just not a fun place at all for a younger crowd. seemed very stuffy. the waitress was nice but took her an hour to split our bill. we sat there waiting for so long while multiple staff just kept walking around us chit chatting with each other. no one checked on us as we just sat there bored and with headaches from the music. lastly, the owners are very rude. they ate and drank right in front of us and never talked or checked in with any customers. i saw a friend of mine from college come in and spoke with her. the owner then walked up to me to id me even though i was sitting at the table next to hers the entire night, was already id'd for my one drink, and was not planning to get another. i just wanted to speak to my friend. he then got angry and forced me to go get it when i told him i was just saying hi to my friend and was already id'd. very disappointed and will not be going back or recommending to anyone. the best part of the experience was leaving. read more

I have mixed feelings about this place. Our first time there, I believe it was the owner, also the manager on shift, was very rude to the hostess in front of us soon after we walked in, which made us uncomfortable. The hostess, who was also our server, was awesome and super sweet. The food was mixed. Some was pretty good and some (green beans) was terrible. The drinks were weak, but I actually don't mind that. Probably the worst part is the whole facade of the place is all large windows that give an overwhelming view of the brightly lit parking lot. Lighting in the restaurant is also very bright. Totally ruins the vibe. Some dark tint or black paint on the windows & light dimmers would go a long way. The musician, however (Jediah) was amazing! We were excited for the bull riding, but it lasted a whole of 5 minutes, which was very disappointing, we didn't even have a chance to try it out.
