Horrible service....paid for a section and bottles, didn't receive half of what I paid for and was charged double for bottles as well just to be kicked out for vaping. If I remember right this is a bar not a daycare. Yall should reform management, dude clearly is lost. YEEHAW! BULL RIDING, LINE DANCING, AND MORE!!! 03/03/24 I recently celebrated my friend's birthday here at this establishment. It was my first time visiting a country club and I must say I had the most fabulous time ever! There was country music and line dancing galore! The overall ambiance and vibe of the club was raging with excitement and pure energy. It's absolutely enormous inside and there's more than one bar available at this establishment. With all the many dancers crowding the dance floor, it's a good thing this place is humongous. However, the ironic thing about all that space is that there's extremely limited seating availability provided; that is if you have not reserved a table for a birthday party. It seemed like every table was reserved for a party because my daughter and I walked every inch of that club and could not find an available table to sit at because they were all reserved for a party. However, there were plenty of seats around the dance floor, but they were taken as well. So, my advice would be to reserve a table in advance even if you are not celebrating a birthday party. This will at least ensure that you have somewhere to sit and rest your feet after leaving the dance floor. My friend, the birthday girl, did not reserve a table for her party thinking that there would be abandoned tables in the building. Big huge mistake. Furthermore, we ordered drinks all night because the prices were inexpensive. Be prepared to leave tips for the bartender if they truly deserve the tip. As I mentioned previously, there is more than one bar in this establishment. At the bar located to the immediate right as you first enter the entrance doors, there was a blonde haired female bartender and a Latino male bartender working that particular area. Both of them were unfriendly and unwelcoming. I could literally feel the ice-cold energy flowing through their veins. My daughter and I were asking them if they had any good suggestions for us since we really didn't know what we wanted to drink. We tried placing our order with the male bartender first who would not speak up for us to understand him. We asked him what drinks were on the menu for the night and he kept repeating something that we could not understand and he kept a monotone vibe as if he didn't care for us ordering at his bar. As a result, my daughter and I turned to the female bartender in hopes that she would be a little friendlier. She wasn't any better. She acted as if she did not know what to suggest from their own drink menu. She asked us what we wanted to drink and I responded to her, "Ma'am we are asking you and the gentleman for any suggestions because we are indecisive at the moment." She kept acting like a "dumb blonde" as if she did not know what to suggest so we just asked for a lemon drop which was okay. It wasn't strong at all and watery. I left her a tip and moved along. I was not pleased at all with the way they treated us. As a result of the lackadaisical bartenders at the first bar, my daughter and I decided to move to the back of the building and visit the other bar. This bartender was on and popping! He was very entertaining, friendly, and welcoming. He also had a mini chalkboard on display that listed the featured drinks of the night. Now this is what I was asking the other two unfriendly and unwelcoming bartenders about their featured drinks on the menu because they did not have a menu on display, or even offer a menu, or even suggest that we scan a QR code to see the drinks menu. Keep in mind this was my first time and my daughter's first time visiting this place so we were kind of lost. However, the other bartender is located directly in the back. When you first enter the doors you can see him working hard mixing and shaking drinks and serving the crowd like a professional mixologist. He was down-to-earth friendly and relatable. I spent all my dollars and tip money at his bar for the rest of the night and I purchased plenty of drinks all night. If I ever return to this establishment I will never patronize the other two bartenders. They need to stay at home because they do not know how to entertain their guests properly. Overall, Whiskey River is an exciting and fun place to be on a Friday or Saturday night if you want to dance or even ride the bull. Bull riding was fun but impossible to stay on during the whole ride. You will get thrown off no matter what. From the looks of the bull, it seems as if it's designed for you not to be able to stay on. Everyone gets thrown off no matter how hard you try to stay on, but it was so much fun! The dance floor is a nice size but can get overcrowded. The food is absolutely delicious, especially the beef quesadillas. Be prepared to show your ID before entering the building. There's a bouncer at the door asking the guests to show identification before being admitted. Would have given 5 stars if it hadn't been for the two rude bartenders' sore attitudes. read more

Disappointed with the Music Selection at a Country Venue: I want to start by acknowledging Mike from Business Customer Service for his response--it was appreciated, though not quite what I was hoping for. My girls and I enjoy a wide range of music and frequently visit hip hop, salsa, and country clubs. However, on this particular night, we intentionally chose a country club/saloon because we were in the mood to listen and dance to country music--not hip hop. If we had been looking for hip hop, there are plenty of other venues that cater to that. What was disappointing was that the music did not align with the country theme that the club advertises. From my experience and from reading other reviews, I'm clearly not the only customer who feels this way. I've visited country clubs in both California and Austin, and they stay true to their brand by playing country music exclusively. If diversification is the goal, it might be worth reconsidering how the venue is marketed because branding as a country club sets a specific expectation. A few weeks ago, a group of us visited from Austin on a Saturday and left disappointed for the same reason. We're giving it another try this Friday, hopeful that the experience will better reflect the country vibe we're looking for. If it does, I'll be more than happy to update this review with a well-deserved 5 stars. read more

I used to love going to Whiskey River. I run a social club and last night our group decided to go after seeing a movie down the street. One of our members was unable to get in because he was wearing sandals - despite having on a nice button down shirt and shorts. Meanwhile women in our group were allowed in with sandals. There were also women/men in extremely tacky shorts and outfits allowed in. At one point I was able to provide my friend with an extra pair of shoes to get inside. Once in, he put his sandals back on given that it was extremely hot. He was quickly removed. Another member of my social club offered him a pair of boots in his car. When he came back with the boots he was told "Because he violated the rules changing back into his sandals he wasn't allowed in with the boots." Just overall an 0/10 experience, ruined about an hour of our night with this petty dress code situation. This is a trashy country dance bar and it blows my mind they would want a group of nice patrons buying drinks and sitting way in the back removed. Felt like high school or something all over again. read more

My friends and I enjoy coming here on the weekends to dance! Drinks are reasonably priced, bartenders are friendly, and they do a good job of keeping the place clean. My only wish is that they played more line dancing songs as that's when the dance floor is the fullest! read more

The guy bartender on the outside lobby next to the doors last night needs to be trained or doesn't deserve his position. I stood right in front of him on the bar mat to be served next and I got skipped more than three times, I leaned over to mention I was next and he ignored me. As a bartender it is important to at least give a signal or make eye contact to say "you're going next" or "I'll be right with you." That guy needs to be checked asap by management or hire another person that wants to serve with a purpose. I came here for a girls night and had so much fun. Being from Dallas I'm very picky on my dance halls and this one is my favorite one in Houston thus far. The bouncers really look out for the girls, drinks are fairly cheep, a good mix of people (different ages/races/genders/heights/ whatever you're into lol). My only 3 complaints are that it is EXTREMELY loud, like I'm not trying to go deaf by the time I reach 30. Then the dance floor could always be bigger, but I mean there's no changing that at this point. The seats, are very awkwardly placed, not enough of them, and when people take them they hog them. They will dance for hours with their stuff on the chairs when there are so many people that could have taken a break from dancing. Overall, I'd recommend for a good boot scootin. read more

Don't ever come to this place! Everybody who works here is shady and I didn't even get through the doors. The valet said it was $20, but then I talked to another person and he said it was $10. Then I threw away a to-go cup which had seltzer water in it, but the guy said it had alcohol so he wouldn't let us in. Really big dance floor and good music. Has two dance floors one inside and one outside. Majority of the country music was played outside though. Which during Texas summer heat with its crazy humidity is not ideal. Wished they played more line dances inside where the AC is. But non the less I had a very fun time. My only complaint is that they skim their mixed drinks MAJORLY. Watched the bartender pour the drinks and it was less than a shot of alcohol. Not worth the price! Ended up just buying shots for the rest of the night instead of any mixed drink. read more

Great fun place to go country dancing. Drinks are generous pours, ambience is tons of fun, and they didn't charge my brother-in-law and I the cover charge because we're military veterans. She had a party booth with drinks and it was a lot of fun too! There wasn't a lot of people that night and the music was good. This place is okay, no real complaints except for what happened last night. Our city is going through a cold front. Supposed to snow in two days and temperatures are in the 20s or so and dropping at night. So I get there with my friend, meet some new people, have a good time and what not. At the end of the night though when they're closing, I call an Uber. YES I know it's my fault for ordering one last minute. Thought they'd be faster but were like 50 minutes. So I'm outside freezing in the cold weather and the staff is coming in and out closing up and even acknowledge me because I'm by the entrance. No one offered for me to come inside and wait a bit. Took them like 30 minutes to fully close and could've stayed warmer longer than I actually did. I get they were closing but it was just me and I could've waited by the front door in the corner. Stayed out of everyone's way. Maybe it's just me but don't think that's a good way to treat a paying customer and temperatures are abnormally low. The first time my friends and I visited is the last time we will visit. Upon walking in, we were soon groped by men in the crowd and staff did nothing about it. When some of us visited the restroom, there was a fight going on and a lot of the parties involved were on the phone trying to organize another fight away from the venue and police. Another friend went into the restroom later and said two women inside the stall were getting their frisky on and walked out with no shame. We were disgusted by the crowd this place draws in. It is not the vibe we like or want to be around. The staff here also has a superiority complex that rivals the abrahamic god, they got on peoples cases for minor things like having a cup of water on the dance floor or other minute things yet did nothing to help women who were groped. Ladies beware, this place does not care for your safety or the safety of others. We will be filing a complaint formally with the county. read more

I love this place! First of all I am a regular and go about every other week with my girlfriends. They always have something going on in order for ladies to get in for free or anyone for that matter. One of the bartenders always makes my whiskey sours just right with three cherries, not to mention their drinks are reasonably priced compared to other places. We had a ball here. I've never been to a country bar and I'm not a country music listener. I had a friend who decided to throw her party here, so I came out to celebrate with. We met up at the front door, ids checked and walked in to a large bar area to my right with the dance floor immediately to my left. We were walked to out table that had Balloons and other things there. Waitresses with sparklers arrived shortly. Fun! After a couple drinks we rode the bull. Even more fun (signed a waiver). Whiskey River was a really fun place to go for country line dancing and two-stepping the other night without being quite as gimicky or rah-rah as The Wild West. I found their bouncers to be much friendlier and a greater presence than at Wild West. Meanwhile, the bartenders are hit and miss. I had one girl who looked less than thrilled to suggest a drink. On that note, I had a Three Olives + Apple something or other which tasted completely medicinal. I can't say much for the Coke & Rum either. I'm not sure that they are carrying anything top shelf, but do you really need that to dance? Maybe some of you do... They had a good mix of pop and country. As always, it's fun to see the mix of ages and dancing. I will come back when I don't have homework and when there is a group to go with... Went there for the first time last night 7/3/22 and was dancing with my friend and this waiter comes up and tell us someone wants to buy our drinks but wouldn't tell us who. Then I found myself being eyed down and stalked but this older man. Possibly 70 years old. I was being nice when he asked me to dance but made me feel very uncomfortable by grabbing my arm too tight and saying weird things too me like "shake it baby and move those hips" I left to go to the restroom in the middle of the song where he followed me and waiting for me. I grabbed a random person to help me find my friend and this old man was still following me around. From one side of the place to the other. Legit stalking me. I couldn't enjoy my night at all without feeling very uncomfortable as he watch other women and me. Very disappointed in the waiting staff who allowed this to happen and then had the audacity to ask me if I was having a good night after knowing this old man preys on women. I have been here twice a couple years back. Each time, they would not let me in because of dress policy. The inappropriate clothes? A sports team jacket, but they let many others with jackets and sweaters that were that same material and type. The second time was because they saw tattoos on my fingers, yet they let many other patrons in with tattoos on their arms and neck. You have to be a certain mold to get into this bar. I hope this establishment changed for the good. But I will not be back because the owners are prejudice behind closed door. Mechanical bull in the corner and a big dance floor with plenty of boots and cowboy hats! It's close to Willowbrook Mall, valet available. Country music is good - the 80s set they play is old school, think Ice Ice Baby. It's shoulder to shoulder on Sat evenings. Cover $15 for two wide variety of ages. Skimpy clothes on the bartenders/waitresses. We'll try it out again. read more
