Went here a month ago for the first time. First thing I asked for when we were seated was a bourbon menu since the restaurant is called WHISKEY Prime. The server left to find it but didn't return. Instead another server came over inquiring if I was the one who asked for a bourbon menu. Almost felt like I was in trouble? Weird, but anyways, I said yes and was told they didn't have one but that I was more than welcome to get up and walk over to the bar to look at the bottles they did have (I was seated at a table with my wife). The food was decent albeit a little bland and a bit pricey but decent not necessarily worth the price point in my opinion. I do think the service left a bit to be desired. After being seated and waiting for about 10 mins I had to ask for the menus. There were specials available but I was not told about them. I had to inquire about them after overhearing a different party being informed about the specials. One of the items I ordered was not prepared properly so it had to be sent back. I was left unattended for long periods of time, the restaurant wasn't busy at all. There was a Total of 5 patrons in the restaurant to include myself for most of my duration there so the inattentiveness seemed odd especially since the other patrons were receiving ample interaction. I honestly won't be back since the price point seemed a bit unjustifiably high and the service was lacking. This was our second time at Whiskey Prime and both times were on a Saturday. The food is decent but should be considering the cost. Our problem is with the service. The waitress on both occasions took our order relying on her memory instead of writing the order down and both times the orders were wrong. It's frustrating that a supposed higher-end restaurant can't get an order straight because they refuse to write down what was ordered. After we ate our meal we ordered dessert then closed out our tab. Once the tab was closed, all service was stopped. No refills on water or drinks at all. We started off with crab cakes which was so full of crab the sauce was amazing. We got a 8oz filet cooked perfect and so tender. My husband order lamb chops was delicate, seasoned perfect and the sauce took it to a whole other level of goodness. Sara was amazing, she made it relaxing and not rushing us at all. As residents of the small, charming coastal community where this restaurant is located, this is a difficult but long-overdue review. Having owned and operated restaurants -- and as the current owner of a small business that provides fine dining experiences in private homes for charitable events -- I hope this review is received by those who care as constructive criticism. Over the past year or two, having spent more than $2,600 at this establishment, I have witnessed its slow decline since the departure of its executive chef. However, it was what my wife and I, and about 25 other guests experienced on the evening of September 28, while there to enjoy the musical talents of another local resident, that finally prompted me to write this review. On that evening, the manager shouted as loudly as she could for everyone present to be seated at a table and to be paying customers. I have never witnessed such inappropriate behavior in a restaurant in my life -- much less from a manager. Describing her as rude would be generous. Our group of friends, all local residents, often make up the majority of guests in the restaurant on Sundays, spending our own money to support local artists and the business. On other occasions, I have seen this same manager throw a chair to the floor at a high-top table just to clear a path between the bar and the dining area, and on several occasions berate employees on the line or out on the dining room floor all in ear shot of customers. Because it is usually just the two of us, my wife and I typically sit at the bar. On one occasion, we listened as the manager described the evening's special, a whole Branzino, to a visiting couple seated next to us as "weird and creepy" because, in her words, "the eyes stare back at you." She knew absolutely nothing about how the fish was prepared, only that she found it "weird." I could not believe what I heard, and the general manager, who was present at the time, did absolutely nothing. If you visit our beautiful community, there are many fantastic restaurants to choose from. As for me, my wife, and our group of loyal supporters of local musicians -- we will not be returning. Had the Mac and cheese as a side and was honestly outback quality, so under seasoned and I barely ate half. Drinks were good but took so long I only got two. Also service was very slow. I almost went to the bar to grab a drink because our waitress took our order then never came back to us. So would not come back. Whiskey Prime is one of the best restaurants on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and the best restaurant in Pass Christian. One of the problems with the MS Gulf Coast is that it seems difficult for a fine dining restaurant to be successful unless it's in a Casino. There are some exceptions, but there I have seen several places come and go in the past few years. I don't see the allure of the casinos which means I almost never visit their restaurants. Lately I've found myself mostly cooking in, but every once in a while, I want a nice meal out. I've been to Whiskey Prime twice so far. Both experiences were exceptional. Located on the ground floor of the boutique style Hotel Whiskey, this restaurant is primarily a high end steakhouse. It is small so reservations are recommended. I called ahead both times, but only once was it what I would consider busy. The menu is A la carte, but reasonable when compared to other high end steakhouses. That is not to say that it is cheap, because it is not. But spending almost $50 for a sizable prime steak is less than you would spend at Ruth's or comparable casino steakhouse. Here are the items I have had, and strongly recommend: Lamb Lollipops - $13 - I cannot accurately describe to you how delicious these were. Despite being in a nice restaurant, I actually gnawed on the bones to try and get every last piece of lamb. I later had a dream about these lamb chops. Yes. They are that good. Prime Ribeye and Strip - $44-$48- I love both of these steaks, but I would get the strip over the ribeye if I went back. Both were cooked perfectly, served sizzling, and had that beautiful beef flavor that melted in your mouth. I prefer the rich flavor of a strip, but if you like ribeyes better, both are a solid choice. Sides - $7 I've had the truffle fries, mac n cheese, and mashed potatoes. All were good, but none stood out like the lamb or beef did to me. Kid's Menu - They don't have one. That caused a near riot when my kids read the menu. It all worked out since the staff were very accommodating and offered to make more kid friendly dishes. The kids ended up sticking with sides, salads and apps, but if you have kids you want to bring, don't be scared off. Like the food, service was exceptional both times I dined here. There wasn't a single thing I could find fault with. If you find yourself on the Gulf Coast and want a great meal, I think you'll like Whiskey Prime. read more

We live in The Pass. Have been to WP twice in the last 2 weeks. Spent a lot of money here w out of town friends. The food is fantastic! The service is terrible! Simple as that. It is really a shame that the "absentee" owners don't seem to care. The place is getting a bad reputation amongst the locals for this exact reason. If I could go -5 stars they'd get it. We called ahead and made a reservation. When we showed up we were seated the table was ok but the lighting was awful to see the menu. We were ready to order and I ordered the steak tip salad. The response was they were out of lettuce. How do you run out of lettuce? It's a regular item in the menu. I decided on a burger and a glass of wine. My wine came and the glass had lipstick and lipstick residue on it. I didn't even take a sip. While waiting for our burgers to come, nobody came to check on us or give us an update on why our food was taking so long. We watched wait staff come and go around the place and congregate at the coffee station. One server dropped a spoon on the floor and 3 servers walked by it. Two of them walked by it twice each. I didn't even take a sip of my wine we sat there for over 30 minutes just waiting for our food, how long should it take for a burger? I can tell you not that long. So we got up and spoke with one of the servers to let them know we were leaving and that we were not paying for the wine since I didn't drink it and it was served in a dirty glass. My intention was to get a new one when the burger arrived and let it slide. But when we were ignored that made it clear that we would not be giving it a second chance. When we told the server she told maybe the manager woman who also spent a bit of time behind the bar and at the tables and she came over to us and said she would check the ticket time. Like ticket time matters anymore to us. They checked and we said no we are leaving. The response was do you want it to go. No we wanted food at a reasonable amount of time after ordering and attentive waitstaff. It was not that busy as far as patrons go. It was busy if you count the party at the coffee station however. Too bad because we get our mail right up the street and it could have been a regular stop for us but this place is a one and done for me. Oh and the ticket time ended up being 38 minutes I believe she said. 38 minutes to get 2 burgers I wonder how long it would have taken to get a steak tip salad like I wanted but couldn't because there was no lettuce?
