I recently went to WhirlyBall for a corporate event. I had never heard of WhirlyBall but the premise is bumper cars combined with lacrosse. The bumper cars go a maximum of 3 mph, but you still can get hurt. They have you sign a release before going into the facility. I asked the corporate planner how much he paid for the event. It was $500.00 for one hour of WhirlyBall and drinks for 12 people. Seems like a lot to me. It was fun, but mostly just for the novelty factor. What a fun, amazing venue space! WhirlyBall is quite literally the most unique game ever made. Think bumper cars and lacrosse mixed - that's WhirlyBall! But don't be fooled, they also have bowling and laser tag ;) This Naperville location is HUGE with its 2 stories and many WhirlyBall courts and event space. They even do weddings (!!!!) at their beautiful upstairs space that has a large balcony. Perfect view of the sunset! The staff here is literally the best staff I've ever experienced. The bartenders and servers were so hard working, fast, funny, personable - you name it. Overall such a great crew! The food - WOW. It pleasantly surprised me! Their chopped salad is something I would come back to WhirlyBall solely for. The caprese sliders, salmon, and lemon chicken were all to-die-for. I got their strawberry coconut mojito and it was SOOOO DANG GOOD! Sweet, but not too sweet, and very refreshing. I downed it pretty fast *whoops*. Came here for the first time with my bf and had a blast. The parking was great, they have a parking lot right out in front. All the workers there were super nice and friendly. It was spacious inside and great vibe. I actually didn't know what to expect, driving plus lacrosse? Sounds pretty intimidating, but this was fun! It was fun bumping into people and being semi competitive while racing to pick up the ball and throwing it to your target basket. It was quite hard to maneuver the car with a stick and not a wheel, but you will get a hang of it after a few minutes. Go Team Red! This is definitely a place for friends and family! Have a birthday party here and not only will they cater your food, you get to play whirlyball, bowling and laser tag. I only got to play whirlyball and bowling, but need to try out the laser tag next time. The food was good, they had salad, chicken, salmon, mini sliders, potatoes, and pizza. The dessert was great - a variety of cookies and bite-sized cheesecakes. They served basic cocktails and a selection of beers at the bar. It was quite funny when they ran out of certain beers, but it was ok, there were others to choose from. Overall, great place to have some fun! Very fun and food was delicious. Pretzels with cheese dip, salad, pizza, Sliders, charcuterie of meat, cheese, and fruit. The staff didn't replenish out more plates or glasses for the water and seemed to all dissappear close to the end. At least we did have a referee for the whirlyball game. The bowling equipment isn't the same as regular bowling alleys. You can't use your own bowling ball. Their bowling balls has sensors that works with their equipment. As the pins are attached to strings and might read the pins incorrect and give you a different score. But overall it was fun. read more

I had my first whirlyball experience thanks to Yelp Elite , and I had a blast !! Ive never played whirlyball before and I was pretty bad at it but it was a fun experience anyway . There's other games on site like laser tag and bowling . It's definitely a place you want to visit with a few friends to take advantage of all the things you can do here . A week after the event I went back to bowl , my friend and I really liked that there's more than one bowling game you can play here , perfect for amateurs like us . One thing I noticed both times I've been there is that this location seems to be understaffed . You can easily get drinks from the bar , but ordering food can be complicated since waiters are nowhere to be found . My second time there we got there around 7 and by the time we found a server it was 8:30 , the waitress told us the kitchen closes at 8 but she was able to get us a quesadilla which by the way it was fantastic and HUGE! I've tried other things from the menu during the Yelp event and everything was pretty good. read more

I came here for an event with a huge group of people--- maybe 75 or so? This place is filled with fun! Neither I, nor my boyfriend, had ever played WhirlyBall before and we both had a blast. Who wouldn't enjoy bumper cars crossed with a ball game?!?! If that were the only thing this facility offered we would be back, but they offer so much more! They have bowling lanes both upstairs and down, as well as laser tag. After WhirlyBall our teams went up and competed in laser tag. It took a while for the system to get set up properly. At first all our vests were red so we didn't know who was on the opposing team which caused for a great deal of friendly fire. Then the system wasn't keeping track of our points. Then firing on the enemy base wasn't scoring. Haha. It was a bunch of chaos, but we still had an amazing time. Finally, we bowled downstairs when a lane freed up. We were given bowling shoes- with velcro!! Yes! So much easier to deal with than lace up shoes! Anywho, we bowled for about 30 minutes before our time was up. We didn't get to finish the game, but that wasn't the point. The point was to have fun and that we did! The facility also has an event space upstairs, a bar with a great selection of beers (I had the only sour on the menu which was berry vanilla- delicious! Sour head note, berry mid, and vanilla finish. My boyfriend had the ace pineapple cider which I've had in the past and know is scrumptious), and food. For our event, they had mini burgers (with cheese, meat, bun), mini caprese, salad, roasted potatoes, broccolini, chicken, salmon, pizzas, cookies, and mini cheesecakes. Truly a huge buffet spread! I really loved my beer, the salad with crumbled blue cheese, and the broccolini!!! The chicken was flavored well, but a bit dry- I find that's common with chicken breasts which is why I usually opt for dark meat. The mini burgers were cooked well done; I eat my meat rare-medium rare. I wish I tried the caprese; I bet I would have loved it. I also didn't try the salmon. I tried the cheese pizza and at no fault of the facility, by the time I ate mine it was cold. But the flavor of the sauce and cheese was good. Of the cookies that were left by the time my group was done playing laser tag, most were unfortunately dark, as if they were slightly burnt. I sadly missed the mini cheesecakes- but I saw some on other peoples plates and they looked great. I would definitely want to try the food again because I'm sure if I ate it fresh, rather than buffet style, it would be juicier and hotter. Overall, this place is awesome! Such a great place to come with around 10 people so you can have a full team for Whirly ball and a good amount of people for laser tag. It's also a good group # to split into two lanes to bowl. Final head count is a total scam. I booked a birthday party for 11 people. The booking was for 30 mins of laser tag, 45 mins of bowling (2 lanes). We had to purchase food to make this reservation, so we brought the 3 crafted pizzas and a salad (it was a combo). The day before the event Edyta the party planner reached out to see if I had any additional questions and made sure to tell me if I has more than 11 to let her know because they will need to charge more and I was only allowed a 2-5% increase. But I inquired about what would happen if less people attend. She never replied back and I automatic message saying she was Out of the Office and she will return tomorrow (day of my event). I get there I get introduce by other staff members but where is Edyta? There were young people around that introduced themselves and I'm guessing the middle aged woman was Edyta. She was wearing a face mask. I was asked for my card. The lady at the front desk, was telling me about my reservations and here comes Edyta hovering over the front desk lady (FDL) looking at the screen. And I asked: If I have less than people attending does that effect my final payment. FDL go uhm *looks up at Edyta and repeated what I said as a reconfirming questions* and Edyta gives a straight face NO. I was, of course, upset by her tone and she didn't even look me when she said it, thats when I knew it was Edyta. The FDL says we have to go by the number in the contract (oh so now you know the rules). I said "I was asking because I sent and e-mail asking about it and heard nothing." Dead silence. It was my husband's birthday so I just let it go and paid. But I find it ridiculous that I have to pay for 3 people for laser tag and bowling shoes if they weren't there. The food I was willing to pay as the minimum was 10 people. I also had to have the WHOLE party there 15 mins before the reservations. I suggest they allow a number count adjustment for final payment. Tell Edyta to be a little bit more welcoming, I've been exchanging e-mails with her trying to confirm payments and such for her to just wash her hands with my reservations. Other than that rant, lane 1 kept skipping participates turns: they would bowl once and when they went to bowl again it would go to the next person. Laser tag was really fun but that good experience was sandwiched. Bad experience/Good experience/Bad experience The pizza was not great. I asked if I can take the pizza (that I paid for home) and our server said she had to ask her manager. She comes back and explains to me that if it was out for an hour I wouldn't have been able to take it home but because it was out for 45 mins she can boxed it up, I just had to take it out of the building before the 45 mins were up. I did get an attitude when she was explain the 1 hour and said "I can't take the food that I paid for home? Why?" She explained I could and I asked "If it was past and hour I wouldn't be able to? Why?" She said something about the food could developed some type of bacteria for being out for so long. I paid over $600+ for the event. read more

I was unable to participate in the games, due time healing an injury, but everything was well organized and my coworkers had a blast bowling and playing WhirlyBall. They have laser tag upstairs as well. I had a burger which was quite good and cooked perfectly to medium. I had a great time at my first Whirlyball Experience! It is not easy, but so much fun! Whirlyball is basically bumbercars with lacrosse. You play on teams of 5 and need to pass a ball with your racket to try and shoot at boards hanging from the ceiling. The games last 10 minutes. This would be so much fun for a family outting. I am not sure what the age limit or height requirements are. Besides Whirlyball, they have laser tag and bowling too! My friends and I played a round of bowling. There are different themes which make it more fun on the screen too. We did the disco theme. Upstairs is laser tag and a private venue space that you can rent out for parties that has 4 bowling lanes as well. The food was outstanding! I enjoyed the caprese sliders, lemon chicken, chili glazed salmon, and the pizzas! We had a great time! The only bad part was the bathrooms were rather messy. Toilet paper all over the floor, only 1 soap container. As long as the friendly staff keeps up with bathrooms a little bit better, I think this place is awesome for parties or a night out with a group of friends! There is a big parking lot and Top Golf is next door as well. I will definitely be back with family/friends. read more

We had a good time, but I think there's room for improvement given the price. For $250, that's $25/person/hour if you have a full group of 10, so it's not cheap, especially if you have a group with less people. Some things that would make it a 5 star experience: - The cars were not in great condition. We had 1 car that consistently stalled out. We had 1 car where the seatbelt was broken so one member of our group had to crawl under it. Finally, we had 1 car where the seatbelt was attached to a carabiner but it wasn't hooked in so we had to have our referee attach to the car - losing a solid 5 minutes of play. - The scoring was really inconsistent. I'm not sure if it was exclusively scored by our referee or the backboards were automatically scoring, but it was not consistent. Sometimes a shot would get 1 point and other times it would get 2, but it didn't adhere to the rules the referee initially set-out. If it was scored by the referee, perhaps she was distracted or didn't have proper visibility and thus was scoring incorrectly. If it was scored by the boards themselves, perhaps they need to be re-calibrated. - There was also inconsistent feedback from the boards. The black board randomly would light-up and make noise, and the red one never did. This behavior also didn't consistently correspond to the points. All of this made it super confusing and we had multiple games where we didn't fully trust the score board. - Driving was a bit difficult, but honestly that made the game fun. This wasn't a big issue, but it would be nice if the cars had a reverse pedal and a steering wheel. - It'd be great if unused cars were removed from the space. They were a pain to have to drive around. Again for the price we're paying, it'd be awesome to see that level of attention to detail and to creating an incredible experience. Again, all in all we had an enjoyable time despite the hiccups. I see a lot of potential in this activity, but in its current state I think it needs a little more attention to detail to be worth it! read more

My family and I love WhirlyBall, whenever we have visitors that visit Chicago we usually take them here because they never heard of it before. Not only the games are fun but the food is good, specifically their chopped salad with crispy chickpeas in it. I've been to this location twice and to the wicker park location. Both good service and staff. Everyone is super friendly. I will say this though, they did waste a few mins explaining how the game works so I suggest to go early so you don't waste the hour you have, especially if you have a big group. I also love the Naperville location because their bumper cars are still fairly new looking and Top Golf is right next to it so when your times up you can go there. read more

What a great modern business! The last time I played WhirlyBall was probably 15 years ago at the old Lombard location that was very out of date and pretty run down. This place has many options besides WhirlyBall, they offer laser tag upstairs and they have a bowling alley on each floor. The food is an awesome variety, vegetarian,and vegan options , which is nice. The pizza is average, nothing to brag about. The cheese and veggie sandwich was on fire! The drink options are plentiful, a wide variety for this kind of genre. Wine, beer in a bottle, mixed drinks. I had a run and coke and it was decently strong! The equipment is very new and in good working condition. Plenty of seating for a group of guests. They do offer weddings here, as well as any type of event. The only downside is that I don't agree with the 10 mins going towards your time for safety training. This was not a part of the time line from what I remember previously. I booked the WhirlyBall court and 3 bowling lanes on Saturday for a 3 hr event for my daughter's birthday with her friends and family. I've actually booked the Chicago location for a few of our work events but this is the first time booking in Naperville and also the first time booking a smaller personal event. I was able to speak to Danielle and we had some back and forth through email but the communication was very efficient and clear. I changed the reservation a few times on the food, number of people and the timing and she was very accommodating. When we got there, we had about 25 people. All the staff wore masks and most of us in our group wore masks but not everyone. But I know everyone in our group besides one 12 year old was vaccinated. Anyways I had everyone fill out their wavers online so we could start promptly. We were able to start pretty close to our scheduled start time. My daughters friends were all new to WhirlyBall so their first game was very timid but by the 2nd game, they got into it more and it was fun to see. The more adult group was a lot more aggressive and made for more lively games. After an hour, we had our ordered food come out and it was very tasty. My favorite was the pretzel bites with cheese, just enough salt and softness. We also had chicken quesadillas, nachos, salad, caprese sliders, fruits, cheese and sausage pizza and veggie pizza as part of the food package. For drinks, I ordered pitchers of different sodas and lemonade from the bar. Then after an hour of eating, we played bowling. Danielle was nice enough to give us one extra lane for free so we had 4 lanes for about 16 of us who bowled which was good because each of us were able to get about 2 games in for the hour that we rented. The bowling lanes are so nice. The lane controller was very easy to use, the bowling lanes had neon lights and was well decorated, the bowling balls were newer, and best of all their bowling shoes felt and looked clean and were very easy to put on with Velcro straps. Then we hung out a little once bowling was done. All in all we were there for about 4 hours of fun. The cost was reasonable and I gave the recommended 18% tip so it was about $1400, well worth the memories of my daughter having a good time with friends and family. read more

Sister in law tried booking a party online. She entered 4/16; but unbeknownst to her, you can't book more than 3 days out, so the website SWITCHED the date to the day she was making the reservation. They gleefully charged her card and she never got the services (ie. the party) because she believed she had booked for the 16th. Upon realizing the error, she tried calling to correct the situation. However; the phone number provided on the website sends you to the CHICAGO location phone. They told her to call Naperville and hung up on her. She called back and informed them, that the Naperville number doesn't work, it sends you to the Chicago location. She asked to be connected to the Naperville location and they discovered no one answers the phone at that location. They then promised "Someone will contact you within two hours"; that was A WEEK AGO, and STILL NO RESPONSE!!!! I'm one of twelve children, have over 60 nieces and nephews, plus plenty of in laws and cousins. Will spread the word NOT to do business with this establishment. Terrible experience. Reading through Google reviews, notice a lot of complaints over shady business practices (charging more than quoted price, bad service, broken equipment etc). Please DO NOT plan an event here. I would give zero stars if I could. The managers are completely unreasonable and unhelpful. We also NEVER heard back from the General Manager as promised by the Sales Manager. They were giving us the run around and lacked professional communication. We had planned a work event here but had to cancel due to our coworkers getting extremely sick from COVID. When we informed the Sales Manager about the dilemma, she was quick to respond and let us know they refuse to refund the $125 deposit. Considering the circumstances and the unforeseeable changes caused by COVID, I would think companies would be more flexible. The Sales Manager told us we would hear from the General Manager, but we never heard from them again. I guess they rather have people who have tested positive show up than practice safety. read more

I just came here for a joint birthday with my girlfriend. We had 10 people that showed up and played whirly Ball for an hour. I felt like it was a very good time but I do have a few complaints. First, the sensors on the backboard of the whirly ball do not seem as accurate as Lombard when it was still open. Only about half the time the ball hit the board the light went off. we asked the referee to count scores when the light didn't go off, but he said we are only able to score points if the light goes off. Second, multiple cars did not stop, they kept moving until you ran into someone or a wall. Then once they stopped, you would have to have someone bump into you for the car to keep moving. All in all it was a very fun experience, but for $250 I feel like they would have more of the kinks worked out. read more

We did Whirly ball for an hour, went to go up and play laser tag and they didn't have anyone to ref so they wouldn't allow us to play. We asked the manager Joe if he could ref.
