I had a chimney leak on the top metal cap. I also had 5 companies come out to review and provide estimates. Most of the companies did not have a contractor license or insurance. Be careful with who you chose. Matt was one of the few that was honest and had the license and insurance. He was a pleasure to work with, and did an outstanding job at a reasonable price. read more

Solid business, solid dude. His office communicated the expected window of arrival two weeks out with a 30 min out text update (I work from home so appreciated this). Matt cleaned out our non-working gas fireplace and put it all back together - it looks AWESOME. he explained the logistics of how to use it and health/safety considerations. He was polite, thorough, and totally transparent about cost at every step. 10/10 experience, highly recommend. read more

Whip's Chimney Service - Chimney Sweeps Near Me - Livermore, California

As a follow up, we sought a follow on cleaning and inspection from a different contractor that found no issues with our chimney vis-a-vis Whips, provided both video and photographic evidence to back it up in writing, and cross referenced it to applicable sections of CA building code for chimney and spark arrestors - none of which was Whips willing to provide. Caveat Emptor. read more

Matt is awesome! Super friendly, polite, personable, knows what he is doing, honest, very clean with his work inside my house..., the list goes on. Not sure where my husband found him, but Matt has been back three times now (initial fireplace inspection, repair/replace the flute, repair cracks to the inside of the chimney and seal the outside bricks). Each time, I have been very happy with his work and will highly recommend him to anyone. read more

My husband and I have used Whip's Chimney Service for about 10 years. They currently clean the chimney in our home in Fremont and have done repairs on this chimney. The service has been excellent and communicated very well. They also handled cleaning repairs and inspection of a home we sold in Livermore. That experience was also excellent and prompted us to use them in Fremont. I highly recommend Whip's for any of your chimney needs. His knowledge of chimney systems is impressive, and he takes the time to explain what needs to be done and why, without trying to upsell unnecessary services. You can tell he takes pride in his work and genuinely cares about the safety and satisfaction of his clients. read more

Great guy, quick and reliable service Came on time, cleaned up our chimney in preparation for fireplace insert. Thx read more

We requested an inspection of a fireplace, which was supposed to take 60-90 min at $230. They arrived and spent at max 15 minutes, pointing out a minor problem but not fixing it, and leaving. So if I want it fixed, it's another $230 + $50 to fix the problem. I tried to contact them afterwards and it took me almost 3 weeks to get a response (it was over the holidays, but I would still at least expect a 'we got your message' response from a mom and pop shop? I had planned to to use my fireplace over the holidays for heating but could not because of this, which sucks! ) This is my first time using a chimney service and maybe this is just what to expect, but it felt like a giant waste of money. read more

Woof!! These guys get a 5 bark rating! Remember the atmospheric river in February? We weren't allowed in the family room because it was leaking down the chimney, walls, onto the carpet...my masters were growling mad! My master called 6 chimney people, only Laura called back that morning. I think 4 called back within a week! Grrrr....not good They couldn't fix it in the storm, but they sent a really nice guy named Matt out, climbed into the attic to check where it was leaking, climbed up top.and then he wrapped and covered it until better weather came. Matt came back today, cleaned, sealed, painted, drilled...all while we were at the park! Woof! My master said...great customer service, communication, and reasonable. Would not call anyone else! 5 high paws & woofs! read more

We used Whips for the inspection, cleaning and some minor repair when we bought our home several years ago, they were recommended by our realtor. We just had them back out for cleaning and inspection (we waited way too long, don't do what we did) and again they are just fantastic. Matt did our work both times and was incredibly friendly, took his time explaining everything and his work was so thorough and clean. You can tell this is a person and business who care about doing things right, we will have them back again next year and hopefully for many more. Thanks Matt and Whips! read more

6 stars...We called Whip's for our outdoor fireplace. Outstanding value. Matt was super friendly. Knew his stuff. Right on time. Very clean and organized. Took time to explain what he was doing and what his future recommendations were. I would refer him to every homeowner who needs chimney or fireplace work. read more

Matt was out at our house a year or so ago, conducting an inspection as part of our home buying process. He was great then, and my kids loved him. Anyway, we put off having some of the issues addressed for a bit, but recently had Matt come back out to handle some of the called-for repairs. He was once again awesome. Friendly, knowledgeable, not pushy. I'm thrilled with the service and expect I will call them again in the future for various fireplace/chimney needs. read more

Couldn't be happier with the professionalism that Matt had from the very start. We have used them multiple times and will definitely be returning customers, along with highly recommending them to others. Very important to clean once a year, minimum! See you next year, Matt! And thanks again for taking the time to show our son the "how and why" of chimney cleaning and working hard. read more

Whip's Chimney Service performed a cleaning and inspection and the service was exceptional. Matt was the technician who came out to the house. He was professional, courteous, polite, and easy going. He kept the fireplace area exceptionally clean and left it looking immaculate. The inspection was thorough and he alerted me to some possible issues, but did not pressure me to make any decisions at the time, which was refreshing. He even advised that I get a second opinion. The office staff at Whip's was also great, as they kept me in the loop regarding Matt's schedule that morning (if he was running late, early, etc.), which was very considerate of my time. read more

Thanks for Charlie Dunn's hard work. Charlie helped me inspect the squirrel holes on the top of exterior chimney. He inspected both of interior and exterior chimney and also roof.He took pictures and made notes. Then he explained everything in very details. After that he gave me suggestions and solutions. The part he can't do , he helped me contact the other handyman to do it. I don't need to talk to explain anything to that handyman. Charlie helped communicate with that person. I am so lucky to have Charlie help me. Before Charlie, I also asked the other companies to do the inspection. All of them didn't help a lot. Charlie was polite, helpful, professional and reliable. He also gave me very good price for inspections, lower than the other companies but his work was the best one. So I would like to recommend Charlie Dunn to help you if you need chimney services. I believe you will have a good experience with his work. Thank you Charlie, really appreciate everything that you did for me. read more

I am in real estate and have been using Whip's Chimney for over 20 years and Allan is the BEST Inspector out there, he has saved my clients thousand of dollars in repairs. I remember when I was just in real estate for a couple of years, my clients had a person knock on their door and told them he would do an inspection for free and give them a report. They called me in a panic as there was thousands of dollars of work needed, I called Allan in a panic and he was there in record time and calmed all down and there were just minor repairs needed. So do not hesitate to call Whip's Chimney. Lois Cox, Prudential California Realty. read more

Very professional and knowledgeable all around. I am relieved I had them come out when they did because we were in the middle of replacing our floors; their tech showed me how far out non flammable surface needed to go. We would have otherwise not done that and would have had to fix it later. And the chimney looked brand new when he was done! Highly recommend Whip's Chimney Service! read more

The story: Due to the competitive Real Estate market our buyer(s) backs were against the wall due to a short investigation period and a home inspector who called out a chimney for further investigation. The company that we typically use on all our chimney needs was booked out 2 weeks in advanced and could not set an appointment. The seller(s) of the home had a strong back up offer in hand and were ready to give the buyer(s) a 48 hour notice to perform... What did we do??? We called and used Allyn DeGraw from Whip's Chimney Service to conduct the Chimney Inspection. Allyn was extremely prompt in returning the call and setting the inspection appointment. Even thou booked, Allyn was able to conduct the chimney inspection the following day to help the buyer(s) stay within the allotted investigation period. Being in the Real Estate business since 2003 and working with many different chimney companies, and contractor, it was evident that Allyn Degraw, wanted and earned our business. I am definitely impressed with the professionalism and knowledge that Allyn exhibited. We will now continue to use and recommend Whip's Chimney Service for all our sales and management clients needs! Whips is our seasonal friend - always efficient, always well priced - good bang for your buck.

I recently used Whip's Chimney Service for a chimney cleaning. Their work and customer service are outstanding! Highly recommended.

Matt is one of the nicest and most knowledgable professionals I've come across. We recently purchased a new home and after getting the chimney inspection had him out to address the punch list of items and eventually retrofit our wood burning fireplace to install a set of Real Fyre gas logs. Matt walked us through each step of what he had to do- explained to us what he was doing and why it needed to be done. He worked several hours in the dark on our chimney- equipped with only a head lamp as he was trying to get our repairs done as quickly as possible. Matt (along with Laura in the office) are excellent communicators as well- always letting us know if there would be the slightest delay in his arrival. Can't say enough good things about Matt and the team at Whip's. read more

I am so glad that my realtor used Whip's to inspect the house. He (Matt Frost) did a thorough inspection to all 3 chimneys. He walked through with me after he was finished with the inspections and answered any questions I had and he made it easy to understand as far as what was wrong or what needed to be done. He was even willing to look into a part for me that one of the three chimneys need. Matt is a great guy and very knowledgeable. Glad to see a company who is very thorough and detailed as these guys are. read more

Matt provided excellent service. We couldn't sleep at night when it rained because of a loud dripping noise from the area of our chimney/fireplace. Matt gave an informed opinion of the possible causes and proceeded to seal possible leaks at the chimney. It rained today and no noise! I did have to wait 3 weeks for an appointment, but they were worth the wait. Thank you to Matt and Whips Chimney Service. read more
