We highly recommend Jose and his team for fireplace inspection and cleaning. We had Jose come inspect and clean a gas fireplace and a wood burning stove. We have not used either since moving into the house and wanted to learn how to use the fireplaces. For the gas fireplace Jose and his partner showed us how it works (how to turn on the gas) and gave us great advice on options on how to start a fire and how we could insert a gas fireplace there. Jose and his partner also took care of the wood-burning stove and advised on how we should use it as well as thoroughly cleaned it as it had been used before and not cleaned before we moved in. Jose got on the roof and inspected both chimneys and cleaned out the woodstove. The woodstove was so clean afterwards it looked like new. Both Jose and his partner were knowledgeable and all things chimney and I would hire them again after we try out the fireplaces. Jose charged a fair price for the work but the real value add is his knowledge and experience making us feel comfortable to use these fireplaces in a safe manner. Our chimney cap blew off in a wind storm, and Jose reattached with sealant. He was very fast to reply, responsive, came on time, and was professional and friendly in his service. I have a moto that I live by and that is, never use someone who doesn't love what they do. Example: Never use a lawyer who doesn't like being a lawyer, they cause more harm then good most of the time. Which brings me to Jose. This guy rocks it, and you can tell. He loves what he does. He showed up with his son in tow, which I liked to see. I greeted him at the door and he know what was wrong with my fire place before he even stepped into the house. He pointed to my neighbors chimney and he says, "can you throw his screen on the top of his chimney?" Yes. "Now look at yours." Couldn't see anything but black on mine. We burn a fire almost every night here once the temps drop into the low fifty's, so there was a ton of build up. He and his son came in prepped out the family room so nothing got ashes in it and were in and out within an hour. He's priced extremely reasonable compared to all the other quotes I got. Like everyone else, when you need help, Yelp is where you find people. I got a small leak from the fireplace and also hear birds fighting at times. Expert Fireplaces popped up from the listings and Jose the owner was very responsive, detailed and fairly priced. He took before and after pictures of the fire place and what he found is not just birds, it's an owl and laid eggs. He carefully removed the eggs and installed wires to prevent them from coming back(hopefully). As for the eggs, wildlife center advice to find someone to incubate them which I did. read more

I called Jose, AFTER sending videos of the two gas insert fireplaces that needed routine cleaning and minor cosmetic maintenance (scratched paint on exterior face). Jose responded promptly and we scheduled work. Cleaning of the first fireplace took about 3 hours so Jose did not have time to address the second one. During this time, I showed him the second fireplace and pointed out my areas of concern. I advised that I did not mind paying more for him to treat the scratched areas, I just wanted the job to be done correctly. He affirmed he could do the job. In trying to set up a second appointment, Jose advised he could not schedule a date when it was raining. Even though all of the planned work was inside, we waited for a dry day --10 days later! After Jose left, I inspected the fireplace that he had cleaned. The log set was arranged so that it AND the flames were drastically "off center." Also, I saw small globs of wool (shaped like cotton balls) all around the floor of the fireplace. I called and asked him about this. Jose said the globs would ignite and produce a glowing effect. I explained that would have been nice, but for the fact that very few of them were near enough to the fire to ignite. Instead, they were unsightly and looked like fire hazards. When Jose returned I had him re-arrange the log set and remove wool globs. He recognized that I needed more lava rock at the bottom, but didn't bring any with him. He suggested I order some from Amazon ...... He then went down to work on the second fireplace. After studying it a few moments, Jose said he was not familiar with this type of fireplace and could not take care of it. I pointed out that I sent him a video BEFORE he agreed to the work AND he had looked at the fireplace during his earlier visit. He offered to recommend someone who, supposedly, was familiar with second gas insert fireplace. I declined. Needless to say, I was disappointed in the service I received. I gave him 2 stars because he was courteous and polite and his price was reasonable for the time spent on the first fireplace. However, I seriously question his expertise. read more

Jose came and cleaned my fireplace and dryer duct. So glad he came! He was on time and very clean - even put on shoe covers going in and out. He put the dryer on fabric sliders to not scratch the floor. The dryer duct was extremely full, he showed me how backed up it was. My place is very clean after he left. He needed a part and went all the way to Ace for it, even though Home Depot is closer, since Ace has a better part. He was here a while and I think could have charged more but did not. read more

Our chimney was leaking through the winter and Jose was able to show us that there were cracks where the chimney meets the roof for the fireplace and the ventilation chimney as well. He sealed the cracks and put chimney caps on both. He also cleaned the chimney/fireplace. He even cleaned out the rain gutters on the chimney side of the house, as this was related to the amount of water leaking into the chimney.
