I have known Josh for years. Once he was kneeling in front of my elder landlord where I thought they were related, but I suppose it was just out of a deep bond of respect. He was so saddened to hear landlord passed away. On a professional note, Josh came to look at my tub within hours after I called him! I want to thank Alex from Star Rooter and Plumbing. Here is the scene. Its mother's Day around 10 a.m. and I get the idea of trying to fix a leaky fixture on my washing machine. I get the old fixture off and realize that I'm overmatched with putting the new fixture in place. The water to the entire house has to remain off until this is fixed. Let's be honest -- no one wants to call a plumber. It usually means something has already gone very wrong... and that was definitely the case for me. I had a nasty clog backing things up and what turned out to be a small leak in one of my pipes. After a mild panic session, I called Star Rooter in Hayward. From the start, they were friendly and easy to talk to, which honestly helped calm me down. They came out, assessed everything, and let me know my line needed to be snaked. They explained what they were doing, didn't make me feel clueless, and got straight to work. The clog was cleared, and they were also able to fix the leak in my pipes the same visit. Huge relief. Now, plumbing work is not cheap -- and nobody is excited to pay for it -- but they got the job done efficiently and professionally. I'd rather pay once and have it handled correctly than deal with repeat issues. They mentioned there's a 10% discount if you say you found them on Yelp. I'm not 100% sure if it was applied to my final bill, but it's worth asking about when you call. Overall, solid experience. We had Alex from Star Rooter & Plumbing come out and give us a free estimate. He and his team are the ONLY ones that had someone go all the way into the crawlspace and inspect the drain and pipes completely. And that was the FREE estimate. (We've had a few other companies out and most didn't even peek into the crawlspace.) He also offered to send a camera down our clay pipe for free to assess any damage from our house all the way to the street. The inspection for our estimate was very thorough and included all of the issues I brought to his attention. Alex was patient and listened as I described the issues in my laymen's terms. And was able to educate and suggest respectfully and in a way I understood. He gave us wonderful advice for our older home, wasn't pushy about his plan but truly listened to our needs and hopes. I just brought my mother home from the hospital after having a stroke. All of a sudden, the water pipe in the kitchen broke and went everywhere. Star plumbing was the first place I called and they back to me within 20 minutes. Josh let me know be there in an hour and within 20 minutes he was here. After an inspection, he gave me two options, My pipe had broke from corrosion. A few pipes were corroded. He got my water running that day in only a couple hours and then he came back the next day, which was not planned and started the job and came back Wednesday and finished the job.
